"Her name is Alaina, my dear. Now please join us for dinner you must be famished and the food would run cold." Julia spoke smiling to her son and gave Alaina a look before looking back down to her plate.
That look was undecipherable, especially when Alaina could not fathom why she would narrow her eyes as if she wasn't happy that Alaina snuffed out her celebrated son's pathetic attempts on her. She had a boyfriend! Probably the Mayor didn't tell his wife of the little action he had with Alaina's boyfriend at the funeral.
"You are right, Mom. We shouldn't let food wait for us." He began taking his chair out and for a second everyone looked at him while he was looking at his chair.
It was a given that when Julia offered her son to take a seat at the dinner table, it was meant that he was supposed to go to his mother's side and take the seat next to her.
