Chapter 7 - 7 | The Big Reveal (Part Two)

Courtney watched Nolan leave and inhaled sharply, shutting her eyes. The second he was gone, she sat down in a chair and covered her face.

Astrid took a second and looked over at Courtney, raising an eyebrow. "...having trouble?" She laughed a little.

Courtney looked up at Astrid and narrowed her eyes slightly, then walked out again.

Chase looked over, watching their interaction. He bit the inside of his lip and then looked back down at Phoenix's hoof, finishing what he was doing. "I think that everyone would do well with some sleep." He said softly.

Phoenix nodded noticing the tension.

Astrid's eyes widened and she turned to look at her husband. "...wow. I think that's a new record for making people mad?"

Chase stood back up, taking a deep breath. He looked over at Astrid and laughed a bit. "I don't believe you made her mad sweetheart. I think that maybe. . . Courtney just simply didn't want to speak about it." He shrugged a little.

Chase then looked back down at Phoenix. "You're more than welcome to stay here, but I would suggest you get a lot of rest." He said, folding his arms as he shifted his weight.

Phoenix nodded. "I should report back to the other satyrs that Theo got her alive, I'll be light on the hoof" She said.

"Welcome back again." Chase smiled. He then walked to a different part of the infirmary, cleaning up a bit.

Phoenix nodded in thanks and stood up lightly. "I'm gonna head back now, I'll see you guys around!" Phoenix smiled walking out to report back and rest back in the forest.

Watching them go, she turned back to chase, then started spinning again. "Did you know Thomas Jefferson invented the spinny chair?"

Chase looked over at her and chuckled. "Is that so? I wish that I could thank him for it. Spinning chairs are amazing."

She looked at him and laughed a little. "Yeah! He also made Mac and cheese, but he was really shit at cooking."

"Sounds about right." He laughed, leaning up against a counter as he crossed his arms, keeping his eyes on her. "You have any other interesting facts?"

She looked at him and thought for a second. "...my brain is entirely interesting facts."

Chase nodded. "Which is one of the many things I adore about you. Whenever I need a fact, boom, you have one. And I love it." He smiled.

Astrid smiled brightly and scrunched her face up, giggling a bit. "Well, you gotta keep room in your brain for all the other stuff."

He shrugged and chuckled softly. "There is always room for whatever you have to say goof." Chase said. Chase then turned back to the counter, continuing to organize some things.

Astrid smiled a little and stood up, walking over to him. She wrapped her arms around him and buried her face in his back.

Chase smiled softly, looking down at her hands. He turned himself around and wrapped his arms around her, taking a deep breath. "What's up?" He asked, his tone going gentle and quiet.

She shrugged. "Nothin... just, wanted a hug."

He kissed her head and chuckled. "I wouldn't mind a good hug." Chase said, wrapping his arms around her a little tighter.

Astrid scrunched her nose up a bit and gripped the back of his shirt. She loved this whole entire manz.

Chase seemed to relax as they hugged, resting the side of his head on hers. He closed his eyes, taking a deep breath, relaxing even more in her embrace.

She looked up and him and carefully took his face in her hands. "You look like you're about to pass out." She teased, scrunching her nose up and squishing his cheeks lightly.

He placed his hands over hers gently, smiling a little as he opened his eyes to look at her. "I trust that if I were to, you would catch me." Chase moved one of his hands down and poked her on the tummy.

Astrid looked down and then back up at him, giggling gently. "Unfortunately, I would. If I didn't you could hit the ground and die, and that would be unfortunate for our kid."

Chase's expression immediately turned serious.

'kid.'

"Our... our what?" He asked, blinking a few times.

She purses her lips together and shrugged a bit. "I mean, if you really do wanna pass out, be my guest, Mr. Coma."

"No... no no no back up a bit." Chase shook his head a little, taking a step back from Astrid. He looked her up and down in confusion, looking back to her eyes. "Are you serious?" He asked, a small smile tugged at the corner of his mouth.

She bit her lip and a small smile pulled at the corner of her mouth. Then she carefully nodded.

His eyes widened and his smile grew bigger. "Oh my gods... really?!" Chase took a hold of her hands and squeezed them gently. He was bouncing slightly in excitement."I just... wow... really?.." He asked again, his voice almost in awe.

She laughed a little and a couple tears formed in her eyes as she nodded a bit more. "Yeah!"

Chase searched her eyes as his filled with tears as well. Not really sure what to do with himself he kinda just... pulled her into a hug. "That's so amazing Astrid." He said happily, but still slightly confused emotionally in his brain.

Astrid hugged him back tightly and giggled a bit more, shutting her eyes tightly. "I found out this morning."

He pulled back, gently taking her face in his slightly shaking hands from all that adrenaline. "I love you... and I promise to do everything I can to make this whole thing as easy for you as possible."

She sniffled and laughed a little, placing her hands on top of his. "I love you too." Astrid giggles a bit more, then kissed him.

Chase kissed her back gently.

"I just...-" he searched her face after pulling back a little. "-I can't believe it... wow..." Chase just looked at Astrid in awe, he was speechless, shaking his head a little.

She took a deep breath and laughed a little. "I mean, the first thing you did was poke them, sooooo... I think I already have brownie points." She winked, then snickered a bit.

"In my defense, I had no clue." Chase laughed. "But sure, you have brownie points." He smiled.

"Well you should have known with your magic brain files, sir." She poked his forehead.

Chase shrugged. "I'm just saying Astrid, I don't have a baby detector up here-" he pointed to his head with a small chuckle.

He looked at Astrid for a bit, his expression softening as his eyes teared up again. Chase took a deep breath and tucked some hair behind her ear to get it out of her face. "If you ever need anything you let me know... okay? Anything at all." He said, his tone going soft.

Astrid nodded and took his hands, smiling brightly. "Yeah. I will."

He squeezed her hands gently and smiled a little. "Thank you." Chase said, then leaned down, giving her a small kiss on her forehead. "I've got a few more things I've got to get done around here and then I'm free if you want to do anything later? Unless you are busy... then that's totally fine too." He smiled.

Astrid smiled a bit more and nodded a bit. "I mean, I never have anything to do, and now I really only have.., lots of preparing to do." She laughed a little.

"We can prepare together if you'd like." Chase said with a small shrug. "I'll be right back or I can meet you in a bit." He continued, this time he leaned down and gave Astrid a gentle kiss before letting go of her hands, heading towards the back.

Astrid smiled gently, then sat down on one of the beds. She bit her lip and hugged her stomach. Her face h u r t. From sm I l I n g.
