Aurora's POV
The past two months have been pretty the same to me. It was plain and boring due to the fact that after unlocking my fire element and my encounter with that mysterious boy nothing happened and to top it all of Azur hasn't been present for the last three weeks.
But the upside to it all is I have gotten better at controlling my powers. I walked down the hall after alchemy class to get lunch. When I entered the cafeteria the students seemed to be excited about something. I order my lunch and went to farthest table from the popular students. But from my table I could pick up what the excitement was about.
"Did you hear about the ball?" one student asked another student sitting beside her.
"What ball?" the friend asked.
"The Grand Duchess is throwing a ball to give an important announcement and everyone is invited" she said to her friend in an excited tone.
Hearing that my interest in ball piqued. I haven't been a fan of parties or balls or social events but if I'm required to attend I always do.
Now the main reason for me getting excited is because I get to see my aunt after Three months.
The rest of the day went like a blur. After class I went to the library to do more research concerning my powers.
Still no luck for me in my research giving I rushed down to the hall to have dinner and back to my room to get some sleep before heading out to the woods to train.
The day after my encounter with Daniel, I went to the woods to train in high hopes to meet him again but it was he disappeared from the face of the earth.
After training she subtly went back to her room and slept in because it was the weekend and because of the upcoming ball the following week was considered to be free for all students. Having nowhere to go she was one of the few people who stayed back in the school.
My siblings had to go back to the capital for the ball and because of the secrets I had to keep it was the reason I couldn't go to the capital with them.
The ball came sooner than expected and thankfully my sisters sent me a dress or I wouldn't have had the chance to go at all.
Racing past everyone and everything I came across I raced to the banquet hall for the ball. Judging from my past experience with events like this it's like I had the knack/ habit of running late to important events.
I entered the hall and all pair of eyes were on me and the event stopped and after few moments the ball was continued in full swing.
I walked myself to the bar and fixed myself a drink and walked around till I got bored. The sound of the palace fanfare was what brought me back to reality after been lost in my thoughts. The royal family of Oryn and Pendilor were being announced which would make sense since it was the three kingdoms which are in the central region of the realm.
The royal family of the werewolves (Oryn) was announced first and the king Adrian and Kathryn Lancaster walked in alongside with their daughter whom should be of the same age as the twins. The walked to their seats and one seat was empty. Looks like someone was too busy to attend the ball. After the royal family of Pendilor was announced, the host of the ball were announced.
"Grand duchess Taylor Chandler" the person announced.
My aunt walked into the hall looking more elegant than I last saw her. She wore a red, strapless flowing gown and a crown on her head.
Next Jacob was called then followed by the twins.
After some performances in honor of the guests present it was time for the special announcement.
"Good evening people of Asterin" She greeted everyone and in response the replied with cheers and bows.
"Now, I know this kingdom has been under the ruling of the prince since the queen's death and her daughter's disappearance and I know most of you thought I was dead since after the war well take a guess" she said and some of us laughed at her little joke before she continued.
"My ruling is only going to be temporary because of one main reason" she said smirking scanning through the crowds looking for a pair of brown eyes she knew.
"Which is?" Someone out of the crowd shouted.
"The One true queen is back" she said as she the owner of the eyes she was looking for.
After her speech murmurs were heard through the crowds. While some couldn't grasp around what was going on others did.
While listening to people's take on the big news a huge pain shot up my body and I was consumed by it.
I ran outside and took off into the woods not wanting to be seen. I knew what was happening and let's just say I had mixed feelings about it. While going through one of the books I came across a section which explained a tiny part about my powers.
It said during the week of my birthday I will undergo another transformation which will unlock my powers.
I was happy that I was finally going to unlock my powers but the brute pain that came alongside the transformation gave me mixed feelings.
After two hours of grunting and shifting continuously the pain went down a bit. Thinking it was over I stood up straight to walk out of the forest when the real pain came.
It felt like a part of me was being separated and a thousand needles were prickling me at the same time.
After two hours of pain my body couldn't take it anymore that I fainted. I woke after six hours feeling a lot about only to find a huge horse about 8 ft. tall.
Standing to check the animal well I saw the glistening scales on its back and my thoughts were confirmed. 'It was a Dragon' but the only weird thing was who was it rider.
"Me anima" I was greeted by a voiced I haven't heard in months.
"Azur is that you?" I asked her my voice a bit frail.
"Yes"
"Where were you all this while" I asked her feeling a bit suspicious.
"I'm sorry me anima but I was undergoing some changes"
"What changes?" I asked her.
"Look in front of you"
I was soon face by the same dragon I saw earlier. It puffed smoked and Shifted it mouth to make look like as if it was almost smirking.
I had a feeling the dragon was Azur but still couldn't confirm it yet. The dragon in front of me had silver scales with gold trimmings on it feathers. And the last time I saw Azur the color of her scales were blue.
"Is this you?" I asked to be sure.
"Yes"
"So this is what you meant by 'changes'?" I asked her.
"Yes"
"Why?" I ask still baffled.
"Well for one we are eighteen. And two we met our mate." She said with a huge grin.
Out of what she said all I could pick out was us being eighteen the rest was like nonsense as she said.
"So does this mean I finally get to ride you?" I asked her feeling excited.
"Only one way to find out" She said while smirking.
