Leon Norton
The night travels slow as the dim lights of the bar gives off a depressing glow. This is the usual feel of Sunday afternoons, soft and light yet sad.
To Leon it was a nice change of pace though. He could relax with a good drink and enjoy the silence or have mindless talks with Adri, who was for some reason always scheduled on Sundays.
Adriano abruptly puts a glass down after wiping it clean causing Leon to glance over at him. "Yes..?"
Adri blinks a couple times before shaking his head. "Oh sorry, just thinking too much."
Leon furrows his eyebrows, leaning forward in the barstool. "About.."
"You know, Nevaeh and stuff." Adriano moves on to another glass and begins cleaning. "These past couple of months have really been something."
Leon raises a brow. "In what way?"
"Well, I was kinda surprised that she wanted to know about us and our past but I guess it was only fair since we pried so much into her personal life." He stops, beginning to stare off into space. "And then it was weird actually opening up to her, Kahlil, and even you about my family situation."
Leon nods. "I get that, it was weird for me too. I mean, not as weird since you and Nevaeh knew a little about the situation but actually going through my tragic story and telling it from start to end was... a lot." Leon blinks back from the dark place he was about the head toward. "But I'm glad we did it because it made me realize that we aren't that different from each other."
"Yeah."
They both become silent, the day drinkers quiet slurping becoming more distinct.
Leon watches the ice as it slowly moves around the liquid in his cup. The ice seems to get smaller and smaller as he watches it melt into nothing. His thoughts wonder as he watches his drink ever so carefully.
The stories of Adri and Nevy's Dads coming to light. Their poor quality of playing fathers and lack of care for their family made him so heated. The thought of up and leaving his family or even laying a finger on his kids simply repulsed him.
And yet they still love them, I know they do.
He could tell, even when they try to hide it with disgust or anger, the amount of love they have for their Dads.
It absolutely pissed him out. Here they were treating their families like trash while Leon couldn't even fill up the bag.
His family ripped away from him in the most cruelest way.
Leon shakes his head from the dark thoughts, taking a small sip of his drink.
"Hey, Leon."
"What?"
"You think Golden boy has come out to Nevaeh yet?" Adriano gives a quick smirk.
Leon chuckles softly. "Well, I-"
His phone lights up, displaying Nevaeh's name. Leon furrows his brows, him and Adri exchange glances before he answers the call. Adriano gets closer so he's able to hear the conversation. Leon rolls his eyes at that. "Yes,-"
"Oh my gosh! Leon, did you know Kai's fucked a guy before!?"
Leon and Adriano freeze before breaking out in laughter, Leon almost falling out of his stool.
"What! Did I say something weird? And is that Adriano with you? Why don't you guys sound surprise? Did you already know!? Guys! Stop laughing!"
The boys laughter rang through the whole building as Nevaeh stopped to get some words out of them.
And as Leon held his stomach and laughing his ass off with Adri he realised that his or or any of their pasts or family tragedies didn't matter because they have each other to lean on now and that was all they needed.
