Chapter 39.
For the past week, I've been making homemade pet food for Nero. I just found it enjoyable to know that the food I made is what Nero is eating.
As I was pouring his food in his bowl, I felt a sharp kick in my abdomen and I clutched my stomach.
I felt a dull ache in my lower back and it felt like I was having menstrual cramps. Fuck! I knew that my baby was most likely to be born prematurely because I was premature but I wasn't ready.
I felt a wet gush escape from my legs so I quickly finished pouring Nero his food and I climbed upstairs to change into a dress because I wasn't about to go to the hospital in wet leggings.
Once I was dressed, another contraction hit me and I rushed down the stairs quickly but carefully and got my bag from near the door, and called an ambulance because I definitely would not drive in my state.
As I was waiting for the ambulance to arrive, I called Liam and told him to meet me at the hospital.

I screamed loudly and squeezed my mum's hand tightly. Liam wasn't here yet, and neither was my baby.
"I can't mum. It hurts too much." I sobbed.
"Baby, just think about it honey, a few hours of pain for a lifetime of happiness."
I let my mum's words sink in and I bit my lip harshly to stop another scream ripping through me.
As I looked up, I saw Liam's disheveled form running into my room and he had tears in his eyes. He greeted my mum by giving her a kiss on the cheek and he took her position by holding my hand.
"I'll be outside honey, this is your moment." She gave me a big smile and left Liam and I alone.
"What have the doctors said, baby?" Liam's face was slightly turning red because I was gripping his hand like my life depended on it.
"That I'm 8cm dilated and when I'm 10cm, I must push."
A doctor came in and checked if I was okay to push and she gave me a big smile and nodded and I took that as my queue to push.
"Are you ready to meet your baby? If so, then just give me a push Kehlani."
I pushed as hard as I could and once I was tired, I let a few tears out.
"I can't. I'm not strong enough."
"No baby, don't say that. You are the strongest woman I know and if anyone can do this Kehlani, it's you." Liam gave me a kiss on the cheek and I gave another push.
"A few more pushes Kehlani! I can see the head." The doctor said, and she gave a thumbs up.
Those words fueled me up with motivation, and I kept pushing until I heard a shrill cry.
"It's a bouncing baby girl!"
I closed my eyes and sighed and I reached my arms out for my baby. I felt Liam kiss me on my forehead and I felt my arms weigh down slightly.
I opened my eyes and I couldn't help the tears that came out of my eyes. This was my baby. I was now the mother of a baby girl. I knew what I wanted to name her as soon as she slightly opened her eyes.
I looked up at Liam and I saw him staring at us with many emotions flashing through his eyes and his eyes filled with unshed tears.
"Do you have a name for your baby?"
I looked up at Liam, and he gave me a nod.
"Her name is Robyn Navaeh Smith."
