Chapter 6
"Kehlani? How come you're back?" He questioned flabbergasted.
"None of your business!" I tried to get past him but he grabbed my arm and his grip was tight so I couldn't just drag him with me and leave.
"Get that STD infested hand off me right now you mofo!" I growled.
"First, I haven't got STDs Kehlani. Second, we need to talk." My patience was running thin now.
I ripped my arm out of his tight grip and stormed out of the gym. Instead of heading home I go straight to my grandma's and saw everyone sat down waiting for me to get there.
"Sorry I'm late." I sheepishly said and sat down next to Kaiden.
"Go ahead Leo" My grandma smiled, and we joined hands and closed our eyes.
"Dear Lord Jesus, be our guest while at this table we are blessed. Amen." As soon as he finished, he grabbed a spoon and served himself some jollof rice.
During dinner, all I kept thinking about was why Noah hadn't informed Liam that I was back home.
Once dinner had finished, nearly everyone had piled into the living room while Kaiden and I sat outside.
"He saw me."
"Who saw you?" He asked absentmindedly.
"Liam. We saw each other at the gym." I confided in Kaiden because I knew no matter what happened he'd never judge me.
"I'm gonna kill that son of a woman. I don't wanna say bitch because his mum is nice." Kaiden smiled towards the end of his sentence.
Kaiden and I talked about everything for a while before a touchy subject popped up.
"I hope we never go back to Max's."
When Kaiden said this my eyes teared up instantly. I could hear the pain in his voice and I wished I could take that pain away.
"We aren't ever going to go back to Max's." My mum appeared at the door with tears rolling down her cheeks.
"Back there with Max I felt powerless, I will never feel that way ever again." Mum sobbed.
"You're right mum. You're never gonna feel powerless again. Not if I have something to do with it." By the look on Kaiden's face, I knew that his determination to keep mum safe from Max would be successful and that he would try to protect my mother from any harm, and for that, I knew that no matter what happened, Kaiden would always be the rock in our family.
"Don't worry though you will see Grace again. She's your sister and she always will be no matter what anyone says." With this mum wiped her tear-streaked face and left me and Kaiden outside.
Kaiden and I looked at each other simultaneously, and we smiled at each other.
I loved my family so much and nothing could ever change that.
