Chapter 3 - Chapter Three

''They started dating in our junior year of high school, ''says Abby. ''So they were high school sweethearts, did they date through college? asks Hazel, curious about these two. Since they seem to be the talk of the town, very involved in their community of this small Christmas town.''Those two were inseparable all high school were prom king and queen, and both attended Castleton University together ''says Abby smiling even though she always liked Liam. Still, she never did anything about it because of her friendship with Zoey. He did mention how he never left Vermont''says Hazel. Realizing that she talks about him, she realizes he is a great guy who lost his long-time best friend. Of course, he isn't going to wanna talk about it since today is the anniversary of him losing the best thing that happened to him.''Usually, Liam doesn't open up to anyone he just met. The only person he ever did was ''says Abby.

'''Zoey''says Hazel finishing the last part of her sentence.''Yeah, they got married a year after they graduated from Castleton''says Abby.''Wow, did anyone tell them that they were rushing into marriage?'' asks Hazel curiously, seeing she is twenty-six and still hasn't found the one.''Not at all this whole town, all took part in helping plan their wedding, and everyone was thrilled when he proposed, especially both of their parents only because of how long. They were together all through most of their years in high school together then college and, it's not like they got married right away; he proposed their senior year of college, and then they tied the knot and were married eleven years. Almost twelve in June''says Abby, ''that's amazing, and they never broke up or wanted to see other people?'' asks Hazel wondering how they were together from the time they were seventeen before she died in the car crash.

Maybe once when they first started dating, in the beginning, but it was only for a few days and ever since then. They were together as probably the cutest couple in both high school and college ''says Abby. Well, all I can say is they got lucky by finding the one; most people don't get that lucky so very young and end up tying the knot, ''says Hazel.''I always knew that they would, I have known both Liam and Zoey since we were in Kindergarten, but I met Zoey first; she was still nice to everyone around her. Also, all the girls in school were jealous that Zoey was with Liam. He was amazingly handsome back then, and he still is today ''says Abby.

''They mean a lot to you, don't they?'' asks Hazel. When her waffles are put in front of her,'' here you go. Very much yes, since everyone in this town looks out for one another, so in a way. They are family to me. Although enough Liam and Zoey, who we haven't stopped talking about. Tell me a little about you?'' asks Abby. Why me? I'm just a stranger who is just passing through town and only here. While waiting for the roads to be cleared, ''says Hazel. Not knowing how to tell her boss that she definitely won't be in the office by tomorrow morning, that's for sure. In this town, it doesn't matter to us whether you live here or are just passing through, and since you are here now right so in a way you are part of this town for the time being ''says Abby.

''These waffles are amazing, and yeah, I guess you are right; my name is Hazel; I was born and raised in San Francisco. I attended Kindergarten through twelfth, and then I stayed close to home when I studied at the Academy of Arts Univeristy''says Hazel''. I know, right? We sell so many of those a day it' crazy we can never keep up. Also, that's a beautiful name, and I have always wanted to travel to San Francisco''says Abby.''Thank you, what else would you like to know?'' asks Hazel. Oh gosh, um, what was your major? Also, how long have you been in New York? What part of the city? Do you live in, and what is it like there? I have always wanted to go there?'' asks Abby, having so many questions spilling out of her brain on meeting an outsider of Peppermint.''I was a fashion design major. I have lived there for the past four years now, I live in Brooklyn, and most streets crowded on the way to work. Everyone getting into cabs, ''says Hazel.''Have you ever been to Coney Island, Brooklyn Bridge Park, The Prospect Park, and The New York Aquarium''says Abby?

''I have to admit. Unfortunately, I have not been to any of those things even though I have lived in Brooklyn for longer than a year. Between work and traveling, it keeps me busy to where I never get a chance. To do anything of those things every time, I have tried to explore. Something with work comes up or a business trip. Just like this one I was just on in Maine''says Hazel. Feeling almost glad that she ended up here since she has been trying to plan a vacation for quite some time now. Even if it is just until her car gets fixed, it's better than nothing.

''Okay, now I have another question: What kind of work do you do?'' asks Abby curiously since Hazel had mentioned studying fashion design in college. Does she have a clothing line?''I am an editor for Top Magazine''says Hazel taking a sip of her coffee.'' No wonder haven't seen most of the city; wow, that's amazing; I thought you would say that you owned a clothing line, but that is incredible ''says Abby.''Yeah, I tried making clothes in college; it didn't turn out that well, and I was also on the paper in college as well, so that's what got me into writing, so I combined the two and became a magazine editor, ''says Hazel.

''Do you like what you do?'' asks Abby, curiously living through Hazel and getting to know her more. She also feels that she is gaining another friend. At least she hopes that she is.''Yeah, I love what I do. I mean, sure, it can be long hours most of the time. Although it seemed worth it''says Hazel smiling every day, she has a great career, lives in a penthouse, drives a fantastic car. However, there something missing in her life to finish the puzzle.
