A few minutes later the man was unconscious and K2 sat next to him, breathing hard.
Suddenly he remembered about Krystle. He turned around and saw blood on her forehead while her eyes were closed and she laid still. He quickly got up and knelt beside her.
"Krystle? Krystle!" He shouted as touched her cheek to wake her up. But she was long gone in unconsciousness.
Chapter V
K2
She was unconscious. Her side of head was bleeding along with her lip.
Her dark hair was spread around her like a shadow. Her eyes closed and lips slightly parted. She was wearing pyjamas and t-shirt. The t-shirt's neckline was bloodied and few streaks were going down too.
I bent down and slowly snaked my arms under her knees and around her shoulder before gently picking her up. She weighed nothing. I adjusted her so that her head was resting on my shoulder and her arms, dangling.
I couldn't go out through the front door, again. I cursed silently before moving towards the broken window. There were broken glass pieces sticking out from the window frame. I just couldn't exit with her in my arms. I had to wake her up.
I gently placed her against the wall beside the window before going to the kitchen to get get a glass of water ,which was beside with the living room. The kitchen was clean except the broken glass pieces on the floor with blood on it.
It was Krystle's blood because the man couldn't possibly get hurt as he was wearing shoes so it had to be her. I made myself sure to check her feet.
But before going into the kitchen, I went inside her bedroom. It was a simple, lavender themed room with a bed, dressing, study table and cupboard.
I had to pack her things because it could be dangerous for her to go out and shop while there are men chasing after her for God knows what. I opened her cupboard and looked through it to see what to pack.
I don't know what to pack. I have never packed for a girl.
Not knowing what to pack, I took out a duffel bag from the up most shelf and unzipped it. I knew this was violation of privacy but I had to do it and had no other choice. I grabbed the first clothes I saw and stuffed them inside the bag. The next was her undergarments.
It was awkward, very awkward.
I opened the drawer and breathed out.
You have to do this buddy.
Exhaling, I closed my eyes and grabbed whatever touched my hands from the two drawers and threw them into the bag without even looking at what I grabbed was okay to wear or not.
But it's her belonging anyway. She will have to wear them. No choice is there.
I closed the drawers and cupboard after getting everything I thought was needed. Next, I bent down to take some foot wear from the foot wear drawer and took out one pair of shoes and one pair of flats before putting them in the bag's side pockets.
Clothes done
Footwear done
Phone?
Where is her phone?
I looked around her room and saw her phone getting charged on the bedside table. I went to the bed side table and unplugged the charger from the phone, before keeping it inside the bag with her phone and wallet, which I found on the bed, and zipped the bag up.. I slung the bag over my shoulder and walked out of the room.
That was uncomfortable.
Leaving the thoughts aside, I went inside the kitchen and looked for a glass. After turning 360 degree, I found one in the sink. I washed it a little before filling it with water. I switched off the light before going out to Krystle's side. She was still unconscious.
No doubt as the wound on her temple looked quite painful. It was then when I noticed her feet. They were bleeding and looked bad, with small glass pieces poking out from her skin. Sighing, I knelt down on her side and placed the bag down. I sprinkled some water on her face and waited for her to respond. She groaned as her eyes fluttered but they didn't open fully.
"Krystle, we have to get out of the house now!" I made sure to put extra attention on 'now' so that she could hear the urgency in both my words and voice. Her eyes opened and she looked at me. I was sure she couldn't make out my features but she could see me and something is better than nothing. "Come on." I spoke, looking into her eyes. She slowly nodded and I mentally thanked God.
I stood up and picked the bag before helped her to get up. We stood in front of the broken window and she struggled to stand straight. I turned towards her. Blood had stopped flowing from the wound now but it still didn't look good.
"I will get out first and then you need to follow." I ordered her more or less, looking into her eyes. They were hazy and I'm sure she is having a hard time focusing. "Got it?" I asked again when she didn't reply. I cannot do anything if she goes outside first and get hurt because I won't be there to catch her. So, it would be better if I go first.
"Y-yes ." She answered while nodding her head which was not a good move as she instantly placed a hand on her head to stop the dizziness.
I sighed.
Been there. Done that.
I looked at her, into her eyes for a few more seconds before nodding and turning around. I pushed the few still standing glass pieces with my shoe, clearing the window of glass completely. Throwing the bag out, I held the window frame tightly before placing my feet on the it. Huffing out air, I jumped down from the window and landed on the ground, successfully exiting the house. I didn't waste time and got up quickly. Picking the bag up and slinging it onto my shoulder, I turned around to look at Krystle, who was looking at me like deer caught in light.
"Now, it's your turn." I stated. She looked at me, fear evident in her eyes. I extend my hand, telling her that I'm here and nodded.
She slowly came in front of the window before putting her feet on the window frame one by one, with the help of her tight grip of hands on the frame. She looked at my extended hand and slowly let go of one of her hands and grabbed mine before jumping from the window, landing on me, her body extremely close to me as she kept her hands on my shoulders with my hands on her waist. I could faintly hear her heartbeat.
It was thumping fast and loudly.
Can she hear mine?
I didn't even know why my heart is beating so fast. I have done this a hundred times.
"I- I.." Krystle looked up at me and I knew that she was going to faint, seeing her unfocused gaze. And in a second her head fell on my shoulder and her arms by her side, as her body went limp.
Taking a deep breath, I picked her up and walked to the front of house, cautiously looking around for any presence. I thanked God as no one was here. It was pretty late actually so it wasn't much of a surprise but still I couldn't let down my guard. I stopped by my bike which was parked under the shadow of tree. I leaned Krystle on the bike while still keeping a hand on her as I wore the straps of bag over both my shoulders. Laying her head on my shoulder with my hand supporting it, I made her straddle the bike with her back facing the front of the bike. I, then, swung my leg over my beast as I sat, straddling it too.
Automatically, Krystle's head was rested on my shoulder as I placed her hands on my waist and pushed my legs under her legs so that hers were on top. It was an intimate position with her front touching my front but I couldn't let her sit at the back. It was risky
Exhaling loudly, I started the bike and revved it a few times before leaving the quite society. I got a whiff of her scent and shampoo mixed with the scent of wet soil and rain. It was a fruity fragnance. Like her hair strands tickling and teasing me was not enough to distract me.
Focus!
A few minutes later into the ride, I felt something hot on my neck. It was Krystle's hot breath as she was snuggling into my neck, unknowingly
God!
I shuddered and forced myself to calm down.
I have to make sure that we both get to my house safely.
Other than these distracting problems, there was no other problem .It was a good thing that it was night time and the way to my house was mostly from the outskirts of the city or else how could I explain this to the police?
After a long journey, we finally made it to my apartment.
