Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: How the tides have turned

I  get up and  look around. Completle darkness.  My hands on the soaked  sheets. I move my legs abit. I get the cold tingly  sensation again. I move away from my bed. And put my legs on the floor. But as my feet descend I feel the cold  rush  into my body. There is water. I get off my bed and feel the water upto my thighs.

"I need a way to navigate myself." I think to myself.

I walk  straight with my hands extended. I feel a cool surface underneath my palm. I put my hands on the wall and walk.

"Fuck ! ", I yell as one of my cold feet steps on something. And i slightly  brush whatever was under the water with my foot. I keep on moving and stop As I feel change in texture and examine it with my hands. Door.

I slide my hands on it till I find the handle. I twist it and pull it. It doesnt budge.

"I have to find another way ", I say to myself. But first I need to have vision.

I put my hands on the wall and keep walking in the darkness. I  move away from  the door  with my hands on the wall. I find the switch for the lights in my room and turn it on.

I see my room half submerged in water. I can't  stay  here for long. I try working  on the door  again.  All I could do was twist  the handle but not pull it open. I go to the drawer and take out my wrist illuminator. I put it on my wrist and turn it on. It is operational. I need my Maxphone  as well.

After all the development of smart phones and enhancing it, Maxwell corps developed a new series of Maxphone which put samsung and apple out of business. Trust me, It was worth it. I turn on the hologram beads from maxphone and toss it in the water. I activate it and it lights up  revealing  everything under the water. I pick up my boots and my bagpack. It's soaked. I keep them in my bag pack. I  open the window and step out. Its dark. Even the streetlights aren't working. I turn on the light  and point it out. There is water all over the streets...still flowing. I see other people on their house rooves as well, clutching onto each other. Some are crying. I look at my maxphone ,I got a missed call from  Oliver. I call him back hoping he would respond. He does.

"You okay ?" He asks.

"Yes, Just exhausted ", I respond.

"You had me worried for  a while. I thought  the waves got you."

"Waves? I thought  it was  a flood."

" It is a flood here. But the waves hit all the way from Massachusetts to New Hampshire. We are lucky the waves did not hit all up to the way till Vermont. "

"But that's  impossible...." It is shocking.

Massachusetts  is away from Vermont. I do not know how to even react to this.

"How do you think  this happened?" I continue asking.

"I  don't  know. ", He replies.

"Just stay safe and save battery", I say.

"What do we do tomorrow? "

"U stay there  I will come and get you."

"Okay."

I end the call. I look around people are still struggling. I  want to help them but I am in the same condition. I cover my hands with my hands as i yawn. I still haven't  got enough  rest. I go to the flat side of the  roof and lay down. Not so comfortable but there are no other options. I turn off my wrist illuminator and shut my eyes. I doze off.

I  open my eyes as the night ends and the morning light  starts pouring in. I still  feel lethargic.

I get up from the cold bed of tiles and take the clothes out of my bagpack and scatter it on the roof for it to dry. I i take out my boots and flip it. Water spills out. I wear it and tighten the laces. I put the wrist illuminator on my arm and fasten it.

I stand up and start stretching. I feel mice running in my stomach. I need to find some food. I strap the bagpack to me and descend the roof. I switch on the max phone  to start ul holographic beads. Nothing happens. Then I recall I may havr kept it on the whole night. I open the drawer, I have only 3 more holographic  beads. I keep it in my bagpack. I put the solar torch too. I open another drawer and I find  a granola  bar stick. I open it and munch on it. I find some papers , safety pins, charger and a knife. I pick up the knife and keep it in my bag....and also the safety pins.

I then leave my room and go out  to the roof again.

"This much supplies will do no good.", I say to myself. I have to scavenge for supplies. There are  food and supplies downstairs but there is no way I can go down  with all the water.

"Derek's  room. He has to have something useful." I say to myself.

I climb my up to the roof and then move on the other side of the room. I descend and my left foot misses a step and I almost  slip off but I find another foothold and clinge on the wall. I reach his roof window and try to move the window. It wont budge. It's  latched. I take raise my leg and pin my bag pack on the wall and take out the knife.

My right hand still  on clinging on the wall and my feet keeping me away from falling. I hold the knife in the position to hit the window by the handle. I bang the knife on the glass. It does not break . I hit it again. It cracks abit. I keep on banging till it opens.

"Yes!", I exclaim as I finally break the glass. But my short joy turns to be shorter than I thought it would be.

I hear some people shouting and screaming. I am confused. I  hear burble and  I look towards the direction  the sound is coming from.

Brown muddy water roaring and sweeping away objects  and people and it is coming  towards  my house. It wouldn't  have been much of a problem  if I was on the roof. Talk about the perfect timing  to be on the wrong spot.
