*Hey If you are reading this thank you*
There I was sitting at the camera monitors when I could hear someone running down the hallway. Jeremy came bursting through the door panicking. I couldn't understand what he was saying. His words conjoining together without any purpose. I was finally able to calm him down and then sat him on the bench right next to me.
"There is an emergency in the bedrooms we need to go!" He said once he had finally gotten control of his breath. We both began running back to the bedrooms at full speed. I got a decent way down the hallway before looking and realizing Jeremy wasn't behind me. I didn't think anything of it until I got to the bedrooms.
Once I ran into the doorway I came face to face with clear fucking tape. The guys had stranded tape across the door to prank me I guess. Now I did not find it very funny, but I came around and it was pretty um well you know still not funny but it is what it is. Rob was behind it all and he said:
"We have to have a little bit of fun every once and awhile and you're one of the most gullible people we know."
You don't say! I replied.
Everything was good, no hard feelings and it was kind of dumb. I felt a slight bit of normality back in my life. I asked Rob if he sent Jeremy to scare me and get me to run down here. He said that he did do just that. I went back to the control room where Jeremy was sitting behind the monitor. I told him he could go back, but he wanted to take a shift and wanted me to have a break for a little while.
"You're right, I am going to go take a nap and may grab a granola bar. "Don't have too much fun," I said.
"Trust me, I won't," Jeremy muttered as he leaned back in the chair with his arms crossed and head leaned back. I give him five minutes before he passes out in that chair. I walked out of the room and down the hall and into the breakroom to check on Aaron before taking a nap. Aaron was making sure we were stocked up with medical supplies. He said that we need some more gauze. Which was odd because we had a whole stockpile in the basement but what do I know.
"We only have enough for maybe one more injury and that's pushing it," he said, very concerned.
I reassured him that we are making a run tomorrow to a couple of different places for other distinct items. Jeremy, Rob, and I are leaving tomorrow morning at around nine a.m. and won't be back for a little while. We are also going to have a meeting tonight to try and find out where exactly we are going. In the meantime try and get some rest because that is where I am headed right this very moment.
I walked into the room next to the bedrooms where we keep our food and grabbed myself a granola bar. I then walked out and into the bedrooms, I went to. I did a leap of faith right onto the bed and closed my eyes. So many things were running through my head. Are we going to survive this? Am I even going to return tomorrow from our trip? I am sure Jeremy and Rob are thinking the same things.
I woke up about 3 hours later to the faint sound of some kind of music. I got up and my arm was still asleep. It took a minute before I finally regained feeling in my arm. I then made my way out of the room and began walking very slowly and quietly down the hallway. I got past the storage room, breakroom, and janitor's closet when I arrived at the main security room. I went through the door where Jeremy was passed out at the camera monitor as I guessed by the way.
I walked past him and went through the next big ass security door and I was right outside the cafeteria. I peeped in through the small window on the door and saw something astonishing. Aaron had found some crutches for Jim. Jim was up and walking again and even sort of running if you want to call it that. I walked in and Aaron tried apologizing. I told him that this was great and he got my friend up and going again.
"I am sorry for the loud music, I just thought Jim might do better with some music playing," Aaron said.
"No worries, we are inside a building with concrete walls multiple feet thick, and they are pretty much soundproof," I told him.
We could throw the party of the year and still not hear a damn thing from the outside. I looked over at Jim and asked him how he was feeling. He told me he was ready to get back out there.
"You aren't quite there yet, give it some more time," I said with my hand on his shoulder. He had an attitude and demeanor.
I then walked out to go and get Rob and wake up Jeremy. First had to get to the control room and get Jeremy out of the chair and into the conference room. It took me a fat minute to find Rob. He was in the storage room going through everything and taking inventory. After getting all three of us together, we sat down and discussed where we are going.
First, we should hit the veterinary clinic. It is located just right off the square and no more than a ten-minute walk. We are not walking though, we are driving because I hope to bring back some supplies. That's when Jeremy said why don't we just go to the hospital. I told him that we are not prepared for that quite yet considering the mass amounts of ceps that are probably going to be there. We need better weapons before we even begin thinking about going there.
