Once we were in the room, I could feel Jason staring at me. I turned around so I was facing him,
"What?"
He lifted an eyebrow and cocked his head to the side, "who are you and what have you done with my Isabelle?!" He said with a smirk.
I couldn't help but laugh, "I am so tired of everyone around me babying me. I have learned a lot in the last few weeks and have started to get stronger. I can feel it. I want him to know, I don't need to stand behind you to be heard. I can speak on my own and I will be listened to."
His adorable face went back to normal, "ahh. I see. Well, don't let me stand in your way love. I don't want to be barbecued." He chucked at the end of his sentence.
I rolled my eyes in response.
He walked over to me and embraced me. "I will always have your back my love. I will always be here no matter what. We can do anything."
His smell, his hold on me, was just.. so comforting to me. It was home. He was my home and I wouldn't want it any other way. No matter how we got here, I'm so happy we did. I couldn't do anything or even live without him.
I squeezed him and looked up into his beautiful eyes.
"I love you." I whispered.
"I love you too." He whispered back and kissed me softly.
"Let's get some sleep. Big day tomorrow Princess. You'll need all the rest you can get." He said as he grabbed my hand and walked me to the closet.
"You're crazy if you think I can sleep with that man in our home. He has my mother somewhere. He is lucky I'm not marching in that room and making HIM into Barbecue." I said under my breath.
Jason laughed and rolled his eyes. "No no no, then we really won't find her. I will stay up so you can sleep. I won't leave your side but I'll have an ear out for anything okay? Please you need rest. Your powers won't be any use to you if you don't."
He had a point, the more I use my power the more tired I get. It drains me and it takes awhile to recover. I really can't have that happen in the middle of finding my mother. This is the closest I've been to finding her in weeks. I have to be on my toes and not let anything slip by.
I changed into this silky set, tank top and shorts that were a navy blue. I went back into the bedroom and Jason was at the door.
He shut the door and turned to me," there will be extra guards and Knights surrounding his window and door okay? So please rest. Please my love."
I know he means well, it just isn't as easy as he says.
"Easier said than done my dear." I said sighing and laying down on the bed.
He cupped my face in his hands, "I know." He pulled me in and kissed my forehead so lightly.
Things have gone so astray lately, I just hope nothing happens as we get my mother back. I really need to figure out my powers. That way, if and when I need them… I'll be ready.
We climbed into the bed and I could not sleep. Shocker! Right? All I could think about was my mother. Will she be okay? Is she… hurt? It is so hard to base these facts off someone who was dishonest and withholding information the entire time I've known them. It makes it very unnerving to even be in the same building as him. What if he is planning something right now?
He could be choking the Knights! Or trying to distract them!
I have to check. Just… one glimpse and then I'll just come to bed.
I looked over Jason, who was sleeping so lightly, and slowly got out of his arms and slipped my robe on.
I tip-toed to the door and kept checking to see if he was still asleep.
I got to the door and opened it without making any creaking noises! (That's never happened before)
"Where do you think you're going?" Jason's voice shivered down my spine.
"I was... getting a drink. I am thirsty." I said to him, knowing he can see right through the lie, which is why I did not look at him when I said it.
"Uh huh... and does that require being extra quiet while you tip toe out of bed, trying not to wake me? Because you are... thirsty?"
