Chapter 5 - Chapter 4: The Mother

TW: incest

Her eyes, pairs of gleaming hazel orbs that seem to turn aureate whenever she was full of life. Her impossibly long blond hair cascading down her slim figure without blemish. Her pale appearance and seemingly fragile disposition, a true physical embodiment of this society's noble lady. However, she was not 'noble' enough. Not just because she is a bastard daughter of the previous king but also because she acted as if she had the birthright to live frivolously. She was a selfish and unreasonable person, always demanding, always wanting.

She was a vicious woman, capable of nasty schemes, so unintelligent and so reckless. She was once only a daughter of a minor noble living outside the outskirts, almost at the border to the East. She was hid under the orders of the previous king but once she found out about this, she stormed off towards the capital of Havan, disillusioned that she was going to be met with a warm welcome. She was family after all. Instead, the uninviting court, the cunning of nobles and the cold shoulder she received from the King himself turned her into the woman she is.

She won the favor of the previous king because she was his weakness, not in a sappy sense but in a political sense. If the greedy nobles gained the right to marry into the royal family even if she is a bastard, they would have certainly gained something out of the king, possibly even the right to be the consort of the ruler. That was because of a lack of possible heirs. The king only had one son, the crown prince at the time and he was out there on the battlefields fighting the Ereldian Empire. His fatality was a possibility.

The previous king tried to appease the bastard daughter with everything she wanted as long as he was the one to make the decision of who she was marrying. She was literally a bargaining chip for the king. She was always the topic of high society, always at the forefront of the rumors. She lived in the spotlight, basked in everyone's attention. It didn't matter if it was a negative, what matters was that she was the one who made everyone turn their attention on to her.

In the end, she was to be married to the duke of Sylvion, where the family has stayed neutral for over generations thus breaking this tradition and was now formally known as a loyalist to the throne after agreeing to take in the princess.

On the night before their wedding, the troops that were sent to the borders returned home victorious after defeating the Ereldian empire's advances. There was a festive and joyous atmosphere everywhere after hearing that the Crown Prince arrived unhurt and with only a few minor injuries. This made the selfish princess furious. She was mad because it is her wedding that must be on everyone's minds right now. She tried to get out of her chambers to hear about the ruckus but stumbled upon a man in a suit of armor, the man apologizes for not having seen the lady as he was inebriated and takes off his helm.

It seemed out of a fairytale. He had a glittering pair of purple eyes, his nose was handsomely pointed and his dark blond hair was so messy but so alluring at the same time. She was so caught up in the features of this unknown man, it was like she was on a trance. The unknown man on the other hand was curious who she was. The woman invited her inside her room and offered him a drink. The princess shared her agony, complaining about her trivial misfortunes but as the night grew deep, she had told the unknown man her deepest thoughts. The man shared his own sufferings, how he despise the people trying to gain his favor because of his position. They both opened their hearts and hidden emotions without revealing who they truly were. Almost immediately, the growing atmosphere grips both of their reason. He was stunned because the woman approached her and their lips touched.

It was a night of curiosity and whispers of want. It was the night the Crown Prince fathered a daughter.

His daughter and niece, Elysia, the villainess.
