The road kept winding into darkness and the moments I had wanted to turn back, the roads had disappeared, which left me with one option: keep going forward. The trees faded and I came to a highway. It was one I knew and dreaded what was to happen.
A black car drove by and I could recognise it. It had belonged to Martha. I couldn't tell if I was breathing or had died again where I stood. I heard Martha's laugh even though I stood few feet away from the moving vehicle. The crinkle framing her eyes. I fell to my knees hearing my own voice: "Martha! Move away!"
A car sped next to us and the moment Martha swerved, and in moments, the car had lifted up in the air, tumbling until it hit a tree stump, all of us upside down.
I could smell blood. I could hear cries. Martha had moved and even when I tried calling her, no sound.
"Martha!" I screamed from where I stood, falling down to my knees. "Martha! Wake up!"
