Chapter 14 - [13] Spirited Away

I wanted to give the Incinerator Spell a five star review. It was fucking amazing.

It was literally perfect for me, a Beginner Mage that was probably going to specialize in Close-Combat and Stealth.

Why wouldn't I, when I had the handy dandy Lich Transformation Skill to use at my leisure?

Anyway, Incinerator became my new favorite Spell after I blew up Suzui's Golems. All I had to do was touch where I wanted, and BAM! A thin spike of concentrated flame shot through that area.

If I wanted to be an Assassin I could. Wasn't sure how to feel about that, but I suppose I had an excuse to kill off Humans now.

Maybe it would get less annoying if nobody triggered the Floor Bloss in Anded. Speaking of Dungeons...

I needed money, and Dungeons were the best way for me.

None of the Undead Spawns would attack me, so Owari's Dungeons were basically free dollar signs.

If I cleared Shindiru for now, it hopefully wouldn't be too suspicious because it was Beginner Level. Plus I was sure I couldn't clear the others yet.

The only problem was, I couldn't join a Party. Nevermind, that wasn't a problem, that was a bonus.

This Lich was gonna go leeching!

"Hey Suzui, I'm going to Shindiru, k?" My sis looked me up and down. I was probably a hot mess, Human gore and sweat of two and a half days built up on me. I did not care.

I wasn't wasting a second now that I didn't need to sleep. Thank you passive Skill!

Suzui yelled something at me, probably questioning my sanity, but I figured she had enough trouble questioning her own.

"Sorry Zu, be back soon!"

I swung out the door and sprinted for the teleportation platforms.

There were two ways to get to the Dungeons. One: find the manual entrance and walk there yourself. Two: use the teleportation platform to warp directly to the First Floor.

There were only three teleportation platforms in each city, so if you didn't use them you were an idiot because the Dungeons were super hard to find on your own unless you already knew the location.

I only knew the way to Anded because I'd been required to leave manually since I didn't teleport into it via platform.

Shrugging all my extra thoughts away, I dove into Shindiru.

Of course it was dark and creepy, just as an Undead Dungeon should be.

I reminded myself that the Undead were my family, weird as that was to think, and submerged myself in darkness.

Right away, I came across a First Floor Spawn. It was a Spectral, totally harmless, the Slimes of the nether world.

This one eyed me for two seconds before diving forward and falling right through my body. I shivered.

"Gross, lay off my dude." The Spectral was just the First Floor Spawn of a Beginner Dungeon so it was as dull as a rock.

"Ooooo." It crooned. I wondered if it had read up on stereotypes: dimly lit Dungeons, suspenseful music, owl noises.

I decided to kill it for the experiance. I'd never get better if I just let Spawns be Spawns.

I slashed it right through the chest with my Dagger, curving it a bit at the end for the added damaged. Poof!

The thing was gone just like that. I felt guilty for a second, then I felt as if I'd just wasted an opportunity to chomp a mortal soul. Actually, did Spectrals count?

Only one way to find out. I dashed down the next corridor, and instead of stabbing it to death, I went all-out Lich.

Huh, didn't work. Guess Undead were well, not alive. That meant no souls.

That also meant no food.

I'd have to finish this Dungeon quickly then. I was pretty sure it took forty-eight hours, otherwise known as two days, for me to get hungry last time. That meant I had about forty-six hours to clear a Dungeon.

I suppose my Running would pay off.

With a time-limit set, and a few goals in mind, I set about finding the way to the Second Floor. I spammed Dagger slashes and a few Incinerators while using my Lich Sight to guide me to the pathways with the most Spawns.

I figured they'd naturally concentrate by the entrances, and I was right. There was a whole glob of Spectrals just chilling by the Second Floor hallway.

I sighed, and with no time for grace, annihilated them in one go with a Blue Fireball.

A couple of minutes later and I was knee deep in mud. Ugh, I knew what this was, Puppets. They were nature-made bodies possessed by Ghosts and they just loved to annoy people.

They'd slow people down if that person liked being fast, generate a chill if that person liked warmth, steal all your food if that person was a chef. I absolutely hated them.

So I had no problem overusing Blue Fireballs to purify the feeling of their disgusting muddy hands trying to drown me.

It was harder to find the entrance to the Third Floor, as every direction looked the same and seemed to have the same concentration of Puppets.

They were the only type of Undead that had attacked me so far, and of course they just had to be the only ones. Their sole purpose was to annoy, and annoy they did.

Until, that was, they were eradicated by firey disgust.

I spent a wise half hour burning the Puppet residue from my armor.
