A small child runs in a field of flowers. Soft laughter can be overheard. Her caramel skin bathed within the sun. As she turns around, her black silk hair blows in the wind. "Hey where are you?" she shouts. She runs off into the distance. "minster, where are you?" a soft voice speaks out. Peaking her head out between flowers. Amelia turns around and spotted a tree. She debuted with herself to think if this person is hiding there. Amelia nibbles on her lips. She was gently pulled. As she stares at the tree.
"Mister, are you behind the tree?" she asked.
A tall, gentleman peeks out from behind the tree. Wearing a red suit as he stands out of place.. He grins at the young girl before him.
"oh, dear. I guess I lose." He said. As he shrugs his shoulder. He leans against the tree.
"Mister, are you going to keep your promise?" She stares up at him.
He silenced, stared at the young girl before him. His lips curve behind his mask. "but, dear. If you see my face. You would have to marry me."
She looks at him, confused. "what marry?"
He stared at her for a moment as he squatted downturns her. "well it marriage. It's between a boy and a girl when they grow up as adults"
She started at him for a moment. "well, that doesn't sound bad. I don't mind marrying you. Please show me your face."
He laughs as he places his hand onto his mask. "Do member your promise. Even if my face scares you."
She tilts her small head to the side. "scared? How can your face be scarier?"
He stays silent. He removed his mask.
Darkness descended upon the meadow. She felt chills against her skin. Her eyes widen in shock. Unable to scream. She turns and runs. Tears drip down her cheeks as unimaginable pain aches her arm.
He stands in silent watches as she runs "Wait for me.. Amelia" disappearing with the breeze.
Shot up in bed in cold sweats. Staring at her surrounding couldn't help but scream and cried.
Footsteps can be heard echoing within the home.
Gray hair woman opens the door. Rushing as fast as her body can move. She wraps her arms around the young child tightly "Amelia.." she whispers "it's just a dream. None of it was real."
She watches as the small child shakes within her arms. The tears rolling down her cheeks.
The fear that she felt overcomes her. Unable to stop herself from crying. Her words tremble out her mouth "Grandma… Save me.."
The old woman wraps her arms tightly around Amelia. Gentle whispering a few words within her ears.
Amelia's body goes soft. The old woman stares at her granddaughter in silence and heat ache.
She beings to tuck the young girl back into bed. Sighing to herself. She moves Amelia farther into her bed as wraps her arms around her. Watches as she sleeps. She sings a song. Easing the tense within the room.
____________________________________ Next Day_________________________________________
Awaking from her sleep. Feeling the light of the sun against her face. Scratching her head. Trying to remember what happened last night. She looks around the room. Nobody was there.
Amelia climbs out from under the covers. Then looks within her sheets. She wonders where could it be. Scratches her head again. "where could it be?"
She sighs to herself. She marches out of her room. "Grandma!" she yells "Grandma!" ran down the corridors. Her long silks black hair trails behind her. Mumbles to herself, "where can this grandma be?" tilting her little head. Her small body walks around the corridors calling out to her grandma. She bites on her lips. "oh, no.. grandma where are you hiding"
She hears a creak of a door opening behind her. Amelia turns around to stare in the hallway. "grandma are you in there?" She ran to turn the door and push it open. As she enters the room. It was empty. Amelia touches her cheeks. She walks farther in as a hand reaches out within the closets. She tips her head to the side. Amelia looks at the closet, wondering what is hidden within the closet. She thought to herself, is grandma hiding in there. She rushes turns the closet and opens it.
Standing before her was a shadow. A figure of a man. It waves at her. Amelia jumps in fear and confusion. Her body trembled uncontrollably. The shadows beckon hers turns it. She steps back "no… it's too scary," she says. The shadow only smiles innocently at her as it continues to beckon her turns it. Amelia took a deep breath in as she grabs on to her clothes. She stepping turns the shadows as she goes deeper into the closet.
She felt her name was being called out turns her from behind her. Lost in a trance, she continues to walk farther within the closet. She felt her arms burning. She never felt this type of pain before yet all she felt deep-rooted pain. Yet this pain felt so familiar turns her. Her face turns pales as the mark on her arms burns bright. The shadow froze. Sadness appears on its face. It tries to reach out, turns her. Wanting to soothe her pain. Stopping its action. Amelia's pain begins, fades away.
She grips her clothes. Staring at the shadow's sad face. Feeling a sharp pain within her heart. She tried to reach out, turn the shadow when she felt an arm around her. Pulling her out of the closet.
"Amelia! What are you doing in this closet" a soft voice yelled at her? Amelia's eyes bright at the sight of her grandma "Grandma, I found you!" the old woman was taken back. "Why would you think I was hiding?" Amelia stares into her grandma's eyes. Into those dark gray eyes. which matches her gray curly hair. She reaches her small hands out her grandma's cheeks "because grandma likes to hide from little Amelia" pouting her lips "it no fun, couldn't find grandma at all."
The old woman stares at the small child in her arms. laughs at her silly remarks. Her laugh soon ends when she notices the phoenix mark on Amelia's arm was burning bright. Her caramel skin slowly drains of its color. "Amelia? Did you meet a new friend today?" Amelia turns her head as she looks at the closet. "I meet a shadow today." Puffing up her cheeks. "he scared me… don't like being scared." The old woman was shocked. Fear sips into her soul. She pulls Amelia tightly to her chest.
"Amelia, what do you want for your Birthday?"
the old woman asks Amelia as she carries her out of the room makes her way down the stairs. Taking a deep breath, hold back her tears.
"I only, want friends… It getting lonely all by myself." She stares up at her grandmother. Watch the tears stream down her cheeks. "Amelia, I hope you can make friends. Good friends that look out for you." Feels deep pain within her heart. She couldn't dare tell her granddaughter the truth. She too young. It wasn't fair.
The old woman places Amelia down on the ground. "Tonight we are celebrating your birthday. Stay down here. So I can you." Amelia nods her head and ran into the living room to watch tv. Silent walks into the Kitchen crying out her heart. For the terrible faith, her granddaughter must face.
