Z I O N
"Zion buy me vanilla ice cream when you come back home. Diana ate most my share."
I laugh to myself, "Alright."
I shut the door behind me before I fixed my helmet over my head and walked to my motorbike. I turned on the engine and started driving away from the beach house as I head my way to Merry's hotel. As soon as I arrived in front of the hotel she is staying, I pulled my phone out and tried dialling her number. It was ringing for a while before she finally caved in.
"Hey Merry." I greeted.
"Zion?" Her voice sounded confused that I called her. "Why did you call?"
"I'm kind of outside your hotel right now."
"What? Why?"
"You want to go somewhere and eat something?"
I shoot my shot.
"Umm…" Her voice sounded hesitant. "Are you with the others?" By others I knew she wanted to know if Harry was with me. She is subtly avoiding him too but why in hell are these two not talking?
"No." I answered reassuringly. "I'm just by myself."
She took a pause, "Alright. I will be there in a sec."
"Okay." I hang up and waited for her outside the hotel.
It took her five minutes to get to where I am and she looked surprised to see me here. She rushed to my side looking confused but still smiling. "Hiya." I greeted with a smile.
"Hey." She greets softly. "Why are you asking me out to go somewhere with you all of a sudden?" She asks, sounded panting and I think she ran when she was heading here.
"I wanted to eat but no one is available in the beach house. Olivia is asleep in her hotel. Diana went home to rest." That was a lie. "Harry is surfing. Neal is busy with his guitar." Another lie. "And Georgie is also sleeping. I got no one to go out with me." I answered calmly but mostly with lies.
Merry was just looking at me silently so I smiled, "Will it be okay with you to go with me?"
She nods with a sweet smile, "Of course. I wanted to go somewhere else too."
I took off my helmet and handed it to her. "Perfect."
She gets on my motorbike as she sits behind me before I speed off to a nearby cafe which also serves some really fresh fruit bowls and really great fruit shakes freshly picked from their fruit garden located on the back of their shop. I parked my motorbike as I entered the cafe called OFF SHORE with Merry walking next to me. We sat on a table for two and ordered fruit bowls and cold fruit shakes. She ordered Berry Bowl which was mostly composed of different kind of berries and a few legume under the strawberry flavor yogurt with a chocolate and banana fruit shake while I ordered Super Bowl which mostly composed of different kinds of fruits with yogurt in it and my favourite mango shake.
"These look so great." Merry commented as she took a few photos of it. "They look so colourful."
I smile at her, "They're really good. This is my favourite cafe in the entire island because of their fruit bowls and fruit shakes that are freshly picked and harvested from their garden."
"I can't wait to taste them." She said happily.
We began to eat.
"Are you enjoying the island so far?" I asked, trying to make a conversation.
She nods at me, "Yeah. I mean, I know there is so much more to see and I really wish I can see it all before I go back home next week."
I take a sip from my fruit shake. "You should stay longer on the island. Maybe two more weeks."
Merry shakes her head sideways, "I don't think I can stay longer in here."
"Why not? Your boss only gave you two weeks off?"
"No." She answers before shoving her spoon into her mouth. "I am on indefinite leave, my boss was kind enough to give me some time off and I don't really want to take advantage of it."
I smile at her, "Then why don't you spend more time here? If you are looking for a place to stay, there's a vacant room in the beach house or you can stay with Diana. She's really fond of you."
She smiles shyly, "I really appreciate the offer but I don't think—"
"Think about it first." I cut her off while she looks at me with softened eyes. "Two weeks is not really enough to find yourself in this island. LUAHU has still so much to offer and you're going to miss it if you will stay here only for two weeks."
Merry smiles tight-lipped, "I'll think about it then."
"You should reconsider." I nod at her as we continued eating, "By the way, I know I am not in the position to ask but I just wondered what happened to you and Harry before we left Pacific Beach?"
Her eyes quickly avoiding my gaze as she kept her head down a little bit low and I instantly confirmed it that something happened that no one of us knew. "I kind of think… that it was my fault?" She says softly in an interrogative way. She chuckles, "I think it was my fault." Her words makes me confused with what she said because she was unsure too if it was her fault or not but I doubt it's her fault. Harry is sometimes moody as fuck when being asked about his life before LUAHU.
"What do you mean it's your fault?" I asked.
She stops from eating as she slowly pulled her head back towards me, "He got pissed at me last night when I complimented him again about his talent. I mean, he made a song out of the blue and sang it to me." Her words surprises me. Harry sings and it makes me curious if that's even true.
"Harry sang again for you?" I asked.
She nods at me, "I told him he was a natural genius when it comes to music but then he told me to drop the topic, walked out and left me. The next day he didn't talk to me so I didn't push my luck."
I sigh heavily when I remembered how Diana and Harry fought a few weeks ago when Diana kept insisting to know about Harry's past. He said some hurtful words to her because she also said a few things to him. She apologized though because she knew she went too far but Harry didn't until we all had to do something to patch up their fuelled fight.
"Harry's not really the type to know when he is sorry." I tell her.
"I can see that." She answers.
