Chapter 28 - CHAPTER 28: Found A Different Lady

"You hate being followed and being looked into," she answered back.

He raised an eyebrow.

With the way he was releasing his aura, most were already scared enough to not look him in the eye.

But this woman was still staring at him, straight in the eyes.

She wasn't simply acting tough but her eyes were clear.

"Then why still pushed through with it? You didn't even bother hiding any of your tracks," he remained serious.

She smiled and crossed her arms over her chest, "And because I found out more about you I knew you aren't the one you are trying to portray."

His frown deepened.

But he couldn't feel the repulsion he always feel towards the other women who tried looking into him.

Instead he felt something else, a curiosity of why this woman didn't make him feel that way.

At the same time, it was the first time he had encountered such a person, someone who didn't back down from his glare.

He stood up no longer wanting to speak with her.

"Do as you please, but watch your actions. I don't have that much of a patience."

Carmilla watched him leave and this talk made her want to know him even more.

The days followed with the speculations being circulated but nothing was confirmed as the two of them didn't spoke a word about that meeting.

Instead, Archie had lesser and lesser women in his arms and his face turned grave every single day.

This reaction caused people to talk about him being rejected vehemently and now he was feeling the brunt of being a playboy, causing him a heartbreak.

The truth was that he was simply being pestered by her constant appearance on places where he was.

Some who noticed this, thought he was the one following her and not the other way around.

One day, a letter arrived to Carmilla Blackbourne from him.

'I am focused on my duties and family, I have no desire to play your games. I wish that miss Blackbourne would stop whatever it is that she was trying to do.'

That was its only content but instead of being dejected, Carmilla was actually happy.

It was known that despite being a playboy, Archie Fiamma never sent letters of love or whatnot to other ladies, no matter how long he had them as a fling.

Which means, she was the first one who actually received a hand written letter from him.

She also found out that he was never this gentle when it comes to rejecting ladies who wants to marry him or be his lover.

He was harsh with words that they were left with tears.

Of course, this news never came out because it would be a disgrace to those ladies if people were to find out that they tried clinging more to the famous playboy.

"You are treating me quite differently sir Archie," she muttered while keeping the letter in a box.

On the other hand.

"That's new, you aren't sending her away harshly," Archie's father, Asherton Fiamma, asked.

Asherton Fiamma was the current head of the family.

The heads of the family didn't need to attend the meetings and all but they do have their private meeting with the Emperor.

Especially when it is about the darkness that keeps coming back no matter how much they try to eradicate it.

It was their eternal enemy.

Archie sighed but didn't answer making Asherton raise an eyebrow towards him.

"It seems you found a different lady," he commented.

"You knew she had been checking on me, yet you didn't tell me anything," he begrudgingly asked his father.

"You should be able to know that if you are part of the Seven families."

Asherton even shrugged as he spoke of this making Archie frown.

Archie could tell, Asherton found Carmilla to be something unique.

"She was the first who did it this way, checking on you and not simply confronting you and declaring her love," Asherton added.

"Father, you do understand that darkness is still lingering around. I can't be distracted by such right now," he answered.

"That and this are two different things. You are no longer getting younger, it is not everyday you will meet someone who didn't want your power but instead who you are."

Archie sighed, most women who approached him were after his family line.

It was after all a family line that was known all through the world.

"Think about it more, son. I think she isn't a bad choice," Asherton placed a hand on his shoulder and said before leaving him on his own.

And that is the beginning of the two of them exchanging letters with one another.

Carmilla replied to his first letter and he just ended up answering back.

This slowly allowed the two of them to understand one another deeper.

They never talk outside of these letters.

Not even interacting during the events and balls.

It was simply through letters that the two of them connected.

Archie who was already having lesser and lesser ladies in his arms, slowly turned the numbers to zero.

"Just as I thought that lady is different," Asherton commented after coming home.

The gossip about his son was the current hot topic of the kingdom.

About how he started changing after being rejected by Carmilla Blackbourne and now he was a new man.

"Father," Archie started.

Asherton laughed, "I know that you had been sending letters to one another. And don't bother hiding the smiles you sometimes have whenever you read her letters."

Archie wanted to rebuke but he couldn't because that was the truth.

"Though, if you are serious about her..."

Archie looked at his father when Asherton's voice became serious.

"Then you should really make your move now, I heard from the Emperor that another Empire sent a letter asking her hand for marriage."

Archie was really shock by this news.

"The crown prince saw her in one of his visits and fell in love with her, that's what the Emperor said."

Archie was shock with the news but frowned because he heard something amiss about the news that his father had just told him.
