𝐍𝐘𝐗 𝐋𝐎𝐎𝐊𝐄𝐃 𝐀𝐓 Zion with a hint of fear in her eyes. She wasn't scared to tell him the truth since she knew that he might have figured it out from the interviews she had given today. What she was terrified of was finding his reaction to them.

"Lessie?" Zion asked again, breaking her from her thoughts. She had not anticipated this discussion to be held between them right now, much less in the middle of a ball. But she cannot lie to him anymore.

"She is the second daughter of the Knight clan. The result of my father's extra-marital affair and someone I do not wish to think about. I am sorry for not telling you about her earlier but seriously, I don't even give much importance to her. She is no one to me," she replies, with a calm voice.

Zion doesn't say anything and simply nods. He wasn't hurt by it since it wasn't a big issue. He could get why she wanted to stray away from the topic of Astrid but he had to admit, she wasn't at all like Zion had thought of her before he met her.

Lessie didn't talk much about her except when she was angry at her family. That's when she lashed out and revealed all the ugly truths hidden behind the facade the Knight family put on. He was her shoulder to cry on and he never judged her. How could he - ever inch of her was lovable.

"That's why you were looking at her like you wanted her to be buried six feet under the ground. You should have given me a heads up, though," Zion replied.

"Yeah, I should have. But what's done is done. I will understand if you are mad at me..." she said but Zion cut her off.

"Who said I was mad at you? This is not at all the matter to be mad about. Now, let's just enjoy the ball," he replied.

They smiled at each other and drifted their attention back to the ball.

Many came to talk to Nyx and Zion, mostly they were there for Nyx though. Zion didn't mind because all of his attention was on the delicious food that was being served. Nyx chuckled as she watched Zion inhale all those dim sums, spring rolls, and whatnot, like a hungry animal. She couldn't blame him though - he was a grown man.

There were business offers put on her table with multiple modeling deals. She listened to every single one of them since she knew that even though she was quite comfortable in her life, money is something that will vanish with the snap of your fingers if you don't make an effort to earn and save it.

Moreover, with her own company in the plans, she needed as much investment as possible. People didn't invest in the company, they invested in Nyx.

So, she had to maintain her popularity with these modeling gigs.

As the arms of the clock moved fast but the night still remained young, Nyx and Zion found themselves surrounded by the tiresome Pattison family. Nyx was very much aware that they were there to bad mouth her because the news about the Pattison daughter's infidelity and abortion had spread like a wild fire in the elite community.

"Celeste," Mr. Pattison greeted her. There was no warmth in his voice - just hate for the person who tried to ruin his reputation. He was aware that his daughter was a failure but he had spent thousands to ensure that she didn't put a dent in his well-built reputation. But, it seemed that some secrets are too difficult to hide - especially from someone like Nyx who lives on the information.

She rules the city because she knows too much.

Knowledge is in fact dangerous.

"Mr. Pattison! I would say that it is nice to meet you, but we both know that would be a sweet lie," she greets them back.

Zion's face turned into a frown as his eyes landed on Clara. He still remembered the words she had said because they had opened the wounds that were still healing. They hurt more than before, now. Even though Celeste's words reassured him, doubts still fogged his mind. Was he good enough?

"Still as blunt and malice as ever, I see. What would have your mother thought about your dreadful behavior?" Mrs. Pattison says.

Nyx had previously thought to go easy on them. Now, she had thrown away this idiotic idea down the drain.

If they want a fight, she will bring them a fucking war.

"Well, she isn't here right now to tell me that. So, I can do what my mind tells me to. Also, as far as I remember, my dear mother was the one who bought up the fact that you were cheating on your husband. I have to say, Mrs. Pattison, like mother like daughter," she replied.

Nyx smirked as she watched the Pattisons turn red with anger. The family seriously looked like a bunch of idiots dressed up in expensive clothes. If Mr. Pattison wasn't so smart then they would be drowning in debt.

But then, they were.

Nyx was very much aware of why the Singapore deal was so important to Mr. Pattison. On the revelation of his wife's slutty ways, he had surrendered himself to alcohol and betting. He has lost millions over the years and even though he was a good businessman, his addiction outsmarted him every time. His position in the company was now hanging by a thin thread and that deal was the only thing that could help strengthen it.

"Mr. Pattison, I heard the Singapore deal didn't go so well. I am so sorry," she said with a cunning smile.

Zion watched Nyx as she slowly burnt the Pattison family down. He was aware where she was getting at and damn, it felt good seeing her so powerful. He didn't dare interrupt it since her Queen face was a major turn on for him.

Moreover, he wanted to see the fall of the Pattisons.

All the attention was on them, now. Zion knew that in a matter of time Mr. Knight will find his way to them. But Celeste didn't look like she cared, so neither did he.

"What are you talking about? The negotiations are still...." Mr. Pattison says but one look at Nyx face and he knows something is on. He checks his phone instantly and his frown deepens as he reads through his messages.

Nyx had done it again.
