Chapter 9 - Piers meets Santa

"Do you even have to ask such a question?" Piers asked, with a really bright look on his face.

Seeing this expression from Piers, Jimmy couldn't help but tease him a little. "I mean, yeah I understand why you don't wanna see him. He's really annoying…" He shrugged as if he couldn't help it.

"I wanna see him, okay?" Piers pouted.

Jimmy sighed. "Fine. Old man, I know you're listening. Come out." Jimmy spoke.

[System alert:

The creator wants to establish communication with you.

Will you accept?

Yes/No?}

"Hmm, he's a bit formal with this, huh?" He mumbled as he pressed yes. Once he did so, the alert screen widened to the big television screen size. "Piers, can you see that?" Jimmy asked.

"Yea." Piers replied, as he looked towards the screen in awe.

"Hello.." Santa spoke in a very low tone and slowly waved his hand. Although he did expect Jimmy's annoyed expression, he did not expect Piers' expression. The kid literally cried once he saw him on the screen. Piers was having a hard time controlling his emotions. "Why are you crying, kid?" Santa asked, desperately trying to console Piers through the screen.

Piers, who saw this effort, tried his hardest to wipe away his tears. "Ha… I always believed in you. I always knew you listened to me. Your gifts back then really helped me, you know? So, for me to finally see you…. Thank you, Santa… Thank you." Piers continued to cry a river.

"Damn, looks like he really loves you." Jimmy whispered to Santa as he saw the scenes before him.

"Yea." Santa nodded his head at that.

"Judging by the level of respect and love that he has for you, you could've given him a power at least." Jimmy sighed.

"Well, he got one, didn't he?" Santa asked.

"Yea, a power to be my helper. Could've done better man…" Jimmy replied.

"Don't judge a book by it's cover. Santa's little helper isn't that bad. You'll actually be surprised about it, if you were to check it." Santa spoke with pride filled in his voice.

"Hmm, Piers… Did you check the system?" Jimmy asked.

"Uh? Not yet." Piers replied as he completely wiped out the tears for the final time.

"Then check it. Just yell status." Jimmy spoke.

"Also, share the status screen with us. I wanna show Jimmy how good your system is." Santa requested.

"Oh, okay.... But, how to do that though?" Piers asked.

"Ah, just yell share screen after you open the status screen." Santa replied to which Piers nodded his head.

"Hey, how come I didn't have to do that when I shared my screen with him?" Jimmy asked.

"Well, your system is special. You can share the screen if you're willing to do so. You don't have to actually command." Santa explained.

"Status. Wow!!" Piers stared at his status screen in awe for the longest time before he noticed Jimmy staring at him. "Oh, sorry. Share screen!" He yelled and with that, Jimmy could see the screen as well.

"Hmm…" Jimmy stared at Piers' status screen. It was more or less the same for the most part if you don't consider the enchanted gear stat increase and his enormous Karma stat… So, yea… Totally different, now that he thought about it. But then he noticed something even more strange about it. "He can… level up?" Jimmy asked.

"Of course. You can too, right? What's up with the surprised tone?" Santa asked.

"Oh, yea… I forgot about that." Jimmy sighed. Since Piers could level easier than him, that would mean that by the time he reaches level two, Piers could possibly be a hundred or two hundred levels more than him, depending upon his skills of leveling up. At that point, there's no way that he could catch up to him. As he was sulking thinking about this point, he noticed one important thing that's different from his system as well. "What's up with the restriction section?" He asked, pointing at the particular term on Piers' screen.

"Well, he has a couple of restrictions since he's the helper… He's supposed to help Santa, you know? I implemented this because of the possibility that you might make someone unwilling your subordinate. In that case, they could just make use of the system while totally straying off from you. So that they won't have that sort of an unfair advantage, I made the restriction section for them." Santa explained his ideology behind it.

"Hmm, that kinda makes sense. So, let's see what it says." Jimmy spoke as he focused on the restrictions section.

[RESTRICTIONS:

1.Due to its nature as the helper system, the player has to share fifty percent of Stat points and EXP to the main system.

2.Since the owner of the main system borrowed Stat points from the system, as a form of compensation, the player has to share seventy five percent of Stat points instead of fifty.]

"Holy hell!" Jimmy gasped upon seeing the restriction section.

"You know, I don't like your curse words. No hell is holy. So, please refrain from using such language." Santa scolded Jimmy, but he didn't seem to be listening to the old man's rant.

"What the hell is this? Half of his EXP is gonna go to me and his stat points! Seventy five percent? That's some crazy shit because of the trick you pulled, you crazy bastard!" Jimmy cursed at Santa.

"Meh, he's still gonna level up faster than you anyway!" Santa chuckled,as if trying to push Jimmy's limit further.

Jimmy sighed, since he kinda understood that talking to Santa is of no use. So, he turned his attention towards Piers. "Hey, don't you think this is a travesty? Most of your efforts are just gonna be snatched by my system. Are you sure, you still wanna keep this damn system of yours? It's highly disadvantageous. You can opt out if you want, you know? Or at least I think you can. Anyway, the Satan community is looking for hiring guys to give them power as well. So, you could get a cooler power…"

"No." Piers replied bluntly.

"Huh?"

"I've seen people misusing their power and I often wondered why God offered them powers and not me… I was one jealous kid. Now that I know of the truth that it's Satan who gave that sort of people their powers, I somehow am relieved. If it was God giving out those powers, I might have ended up despising them... Anyway, you really think that I would like to get to the evil side just because I need a cool power?" Piers asked.

"Wait a minute. It's not JUST a cool power, it could be one hell of a power. And if you have to stay this side, you'll have to kind of work under me, spending all your energy on a guy like me. You still have a choice to go to the other side, you know? Unlike me, who's basically chained to it." Jimmy replied.

"Well, what's wrong with serving under you, the one who saved me? I'm happy to do so, you know?" Piers smiled, to which Jimmy could do nothing else but sigh. He knew talking to Piers about this wouldn't do him any good.

"Fine… Do whatever you want. Just gonna say this to you already. I'm not gonna be of any help." He spoke.

"I'm fine with that as well." Piers replied.

"Oh, yea. You!" Jimmy pointed at Santa.

"Yea?" Santa looked confused and tried thinking of the mishaps he did in the past few minutes.

"You did good this time." Jimmy spoke.

"Huh?" Santa looked even more confused upon hearing this. He couldn't think of a thing that could've possibly satisfied Jimmy.

"If you could please jog my memory, what exactly did I do good on?" Santa asked.

"Well, you sent out an alert before you wanted to communicate this time. That's really cool, unlike barging in without an alert, which basically breaks the illusion of having a system." Jimmy explained.

"Oh, did you like it? I'll continue doing so then." Santa replied.

"Okay, that would be great." Jimmy gave out a thumbs up.

After this, Santa familiarized a bit with Piers while Jimmy quietly stared at them having a perfectly nice chat. Since Piers gave him his food, he had something to do while they had their conversation about Gods and Christmas and hope and stuff. Although he wasn't a teenage edge lord, he didn't like how cheerful both of them were; it was as if they were meant for each other and he was some annoying third wheel in their conversation.

He was extremely irked about what was going on around him, however Piers seemed happy, so he didn't interrupt the flow. However, at some point, he got so annoyed by their sweetness that he thought that it was time to pull out the big guns.

"Hey, you!" Jimmy pointed towards Santa.

"Yea?"

"Now that all of your sweet talk and stuff are done, shall we talk about serious shite now? How the hell did you borrow all those points from the system?" Jimmy asked with a serious stare on his face.
