Later that night Kathleen's mother walked into Kathleen's room and sat on her bed, "Ngozika," she called softly as she tapped her to wake her up.
"Mummy? Is something wrong? Why are you still awake?" Kathleen asked without opening her eyes. She knew it was late at night because she had been with Pete until almost midnight before returning inside and it had taken her some time before she finally dozed off.
"Everything is okay. I just want to talk to you since I will be leaving in the morning," her mother said, making Kathleen wonder what else she had to say that she hadn't said in all the time she had been in the house.
"What is it?" She asked as she reluctantly sat up and rubbed her eyes sleepily before picking up her phone to check the time. It was just some minutes past 2 in the morning.
