Ingrid leaned on railings closer to the bench and looked at the classes at the far end of the building. Snow had begun falling again and the ground below was colored in white whenever it made contact. The classes were silent and only the voices of the teachers could be heard. She shivered as she felt the cold and looked over at Freya. She had dug her face in her hands which were rested on her laps and were zoned out, thinking of her own things. She looked pretty while she did that. Freya noticed Ingrid looking at her from the corner of her eyes and she looked back at her and noticed that Ingrid was shaking from the cold. Ingrid dared not look away as she wasn't feeling anything for her so as to blush away or anything. Dressed in a maroon blazer over her uniform, Freya got up and walked over to her, took out the blazer, and put it around Ingrid, who looked on as she did so. Hannah laughed out from the bench and the two looked at her.
"What?" Freya asked her smiling. She was Hannah's friend and could relate to each other very well. Her voice was warm, and her accent– so rich in a beautiful voice.
"Nothing?" She answered shaking her head. Freya began moving toward Hannah but Ingrid caught her hand. She turned around and looked at her. She smiled.
"What?" Freya asked.
"Thank you."
Freya nodded and Ingrid let her out of her grasp. She went over to Hannah and sat back on the bench with her. "What's funny?" She asked. Hannah flicked her eyebrows at her while constantly looking at Ingrid.
"Oh, shut up." Freya cried out while looking at Ingrid. She however smiled when her eyes danced around Ingrid's face. "She's pretty, isn't she?" She told Hannah softly. Ingrid managed to hear them but ignored their talk. She kept staring at the classes at the end of the building. There were four, three-story buildings used as classes in the academic block, and they were all shaped as letters H. They stood opposite and adjacent to each other, enclosing themselves in a square. Inside the large gap were lots of benches and trees and flowers. Ingrid and her latter were currently in the bridge, which stretched for eight meters, of one of the buildings. And they were nothing but classes from the 9th grade to the 12th grade. The sunlight was poor today and more so on the bridge. She stopped shaking as the warm blazer trapped in more of her heat. She stared at her surroundings longingly and lonely until when Freya decided to join her again. She rested herself on the railings too. Ingrid did not bother to look at her this time.
"It's pretty cold, huh?" Freya asked.
"You have no idea," Ingrid stressed. "You don't feel the cold?"
"I do, but you... I can say it's taking a toll on you so I shared it with you. Hope you're feeling warmer now." She said, still avoiding eye contact.
Ingrid grabbed Freya's arm and turned her around so that they could lock eyes. "Why are you doing this? Why are you being good to me, and don't tell me it's because you're in love with me!"
Freya looked at her longingly now, her cat lilac eyes dancing as she scored Ingrid's face. "Okay." She then turned back and looked at the classes. Ingrid chuckled a bit.
"Okay? Okay what?" She asked her.
"You don't want me to tell you the reason why, so... okay."
"Oh my god, Freya! Don't do that with me. You have a girlfriend who likes you very much, and you know I have a boyfriend. I'm not a same-sex girl kinda thingy too you know? So don't start that with me before we get any further, it'll break your heart, very badly."
"Stop being so amazing, then I'll stop." Freya told her. "Why do you think I usually hang with Maddie?" She shrugged.
Ingrid gulped. "Freya, what you did to her in front of the students wasn't a good thing you know?" She turned the focus away from herself.
"It's not my fault you know." She shrugged. "I had already told her on separate occasions that I wanted out... she didn't want to listen so I stopped hearing what she told me. And when finally I saw you in the cafeteria, so brave while you kicked Hannah's ass..." Freya turned to Hannah, "No offense girl!" She blurted out. Hannah rose her middle finger at her, smiling. Freya laughed and turned to Ingrid, "...when I saw you there, a beautiful, badass, kickass girl fighting for her family, and how you did it with courage... girl I couldn't wait any longer."
"So you had to kiss me in front of her? Really? Do you know how much that hurt her?"
"Did you prefer me doing it in secrecy?"
"Not what I meant..."
"Exactly! She wasn't getting the memo so I had to show her that I and her were never happening again."
"What did she do to you? To deserve such humiliation?" Ingrid asked.
"She cheated on me, that's all. And she won't accept it."
"Are you sure?"
"Yes. I accept that maybe she was horny enough and got on some guy... but then she lies to me? I didn't like that so I ended the relationship, there and then."
"Really? I asked her. She denied." Ingrid started again. "When was this?"
"December, last year during Christmas... that was when it happened. I however learned about it a month ago. She had all the time to tell me but she still denied it. I don't forgive such lies."
"But Freya that was like last year! You should totally forget about it." Ingrid squeaked.
"The north remembers!" She muttered pointing to her head. Ingrid laughed out as she understood the joke to its core finest.
"You also watch Game of Thrones?" Ingrid asked her, her laughter dying. The joke had come from her favorite show. Freya nodded. Ingrid wiped off her own happy tears. She then took a long look at Freya and cleared her throat. "Okay Freya, I don't know what happened between you and Maddie and I don't know who is telling the truth. You two need to settle down and clear your issues and don't get me involved whatsoever. You two are adorable together and you shouldn't let no simple cheating mistake tear you guys apart." She then cocked her head and brushed her hair. "But I want you to know this..." Her voice had changed to a cold-like dagger that cut across the still wind, "I don't love you. I don't like you. I am not like you. I have a boyfriend who loves me very much, and I'm p..." She stopped immediately. She stared at Freya for a while. "Uh... I'm preparing for a life with him when I'm done with my studies. So don't get your hopes about me whatsoever. It will end badly for both of us. I like you as a friend and I love what we have Freya... so don't fuck that up."
"Ingrid..."Freya began. "I lo-"
"How many times will I tell you that I don't want you? I don't need you!" Ingrid cut her short snarling at her bitterly, with her eyebrows furrowed in anger. She took off the blazer and shoved it at Freya! "Get your stupid freaking coat back!" She then walked further away from her and leaned on the railings as the cold began to bite again. Freya walked back to the bench slowly and threw the blazer on it and sat by its side as Hannah watched. She dug herself back into her arms and zoned out again. Ingrid never looked at her.
