Ingrid was seating on her chair, head balanced on her hand on top of a desk, dressed in school uniforms as she tried her best to pay attention to the teacher by the board teaching a lot of Biology stuff that seemed to pass her, never catching her attention whatsoever. It was midday and the class was about to end. Everyone seemed friendly more so Madison. They weren't shaming her in relation to the Ethan debacle seeming to be a school of civilized girls. Talk about St. Luis Girls' Washington. The teacher walked around explaining this and that about the human ear. "The cochlea contains nerves for hearing," the young mister said. "The cock dear can serve pain from inner." That is what Ingrid heard. Her mind was away from the class as she plundered into thoughts about the secret baby inside her and her boyfriend. Building castles in the air, she pictured herself with him on a beach as they rested on the sand and their little child running about in happiness. She smiled at the thought, feeling to be at peace with how life was fairing on. 'If it's a boy, I'll name him after my brother... Little Ethan.' She remembered when she told Ayden back in Ethan's house two days ago. "...isn't that right Ingrid?" was what brought her back to class.
Her eyes opened in shock and rounded as wide to absorb the incognito call. "What?" She asked. The class full of only but girls burst into laughter as the male teacher walked towards her laughing too.
"I was saying that there are people out there who need ears like yours so that they could concentrate in my class... isn't that right, Ingrid?"
"Um... uh," she muttered.
RRRRRIIIIIIIING! The bell saved her ass. She gave out a sigh.
"Don't forget to do the assignment ladies." He grinned at them. "Take care of yourselves too." He added on top. "Ingrid next time... please leave the boy back at home. You're needed here alone." Mr. Grant finished as he walked out and left the whole close bursting into laughter. Ingrid shook her head and blushed away. She took her books and put them back in her bag and walked outside among some girls for lunch.
"Hey, Madison..." Ingrid called out to her female best friend as she approached her in the hallway. They were dressed in dark red sweaters which had a badge embedded on them figuratively showing a boat in the ocean with the school name and motto crisped around the badge itself. Red checkered skirts of varying sizes hang below their waists and white shirts below their sweaters and red ties were on the other way up. On top of that, they wore black leathered shoes. Ingrid added white stockings that went up past her knees. The cold...
"Hey, Ingrid... what's up? Where've you been all weekend? Do your parents still have your phone?" Madison asked blurting out questions at the little girl. She had black hair that had been tied to a ponytail and she plaited two rows that hang on either side of her face. She was taller than Ingrid by an inch or two.
"Nothing interesting, home, yeah... I kinda miss talking to you guys so that you can fill me over the adventures that you experience during the weekend." Ingrid muttered as they found their way to their lockers in the hallway.
"There's nothing happening for us boarders here in school that I can compare to be as fun as what you do during the weekends."
"It seems like you have already forgotten what I told you about our home, Madison. Home is boring like hell!"
"I know that your brother is not there anymore... but what about that boy, Ayden. Did anything good happen between you two this weekend?"
"Oh yeah." She answered as she opened her locker and put the books back in. "He fingered me on Saturday..."
"Oh...." Madison rubbed her hands together as she leaned forward to listen to her. "Tell me how it was."
"Same old, same old... nothing interesting. Okay... it was interesting but wasn't something new." She tilted her head and saw another girl of mixed race, shorter than her heading towards a locker near them. "How about you tell me about Freya." Madison turned around and saw the girl opening her locker and put in some books from her bag. She was a mix of Latin American and American, with a cute little nose and cat-like lilac eyes. Her eyes were so pretty you wouldn't stop looking at them. Her brows were so sleek, decorating her face to perfection. She also had black hair that was stylized the same way as Madison's.
"Hey Freya..." Madison called out to her. The girl took out some books and placed them in her bag. She turned to the two silently. "How are—"
"Don't talk to me!" She cut Madison's greetings as she put on her bag. She then walked away without uttering another word. Madison turned back to Ingrid and shrugged.
"That's all she does nowadays," Madison spoke with a lot of hurt in her voice. "She's been ignoring me for two weeks now. She doesn't even share my bed anymore."
"Sorry, girlfriend. That's so tough to hear." Ingrid told her as she slammed her locker shut. "I wish I could help..."
"She wanted to leave our cubicle for another one." Madison continued her talk. "I don't know what happened between us but she just stopped talking to me."
They started walking down the hallway as they headed to the cafeteria. Ingrid couldn't help but get down to the truth of the matter. "Did you perhaps cheat on her and she found out?"
"No... I didn't." Madison shook her head. "I mean Ingrid, you've seen her. You've been around her. You know her well pretty much as I do. She is hot! How can I settle for any girl without her qualities? She's wild and fun and pretty and a good partner you know. She's just unique."
Ingrid spent a lot of time with Madison and Freya was never away from her. They talked, played, hang around together all the time. They also shared some classes with the girl and in the process, she kind of understood who Freya was and who she was to Madison.
"Then what nonsense has she bugged herself in that is making her react to you... so oddly?"
"I don't know... could you talk to her for me, please. And see what's wrong with her. I know she'll listen to you."
"Girl, whoa. I'm not her girlfriend. You should look for ways in which you can ask her personally and have a heart-to-heart conversation and see what's wrong with her. Trust me, I have enough issues on my plate to handle."
"Like what?"
"It doesn't matter... I just have issues." Ingrid answered her boldly, clearly hiding the truth from her. Only four people knew of the pregnancy. Her brother, Elena, Ayden, and her herself. When a secret gets to be known by too many people it no longer becomes a secret becomes a piece of information. She couldn't tell anyone else... not yet.
"That's what you always say. For some friend, you sure keep a lot of secrets nowadays." Madison gave out a fake smile with eyebrows raised. Ingrid caught Madison on her arm and made her stop walking.
"Okay, what do you want me to say? I'm busy preparing for my staying at this school as a boarder. It requires a lot of procedures and..."
"Oh spare me the excuse. It doesn't take that long. Tell your parents you want to come to stay here and come over to my cubicle, we have two empty beds there. What I want you to do now however is go and talk to that girl over there." She pointed at Freya who had already sat down and was eating her lunch with some girls.
Ingrid sighed out. "Where am I going to start?"
"Where I failed..."
"You so owe me for this Maddie," she crossed her eyebrows. She breathed out again, put her bag on the floor beside Madison, turned and headed over to the table where the girl was. There were four seats at the table and all occupied by Freya and her friends.
