"No! No! Nobody said anything about killing anybody!" Lance mumbled.
"Then what do you have in mind?" Asked Myles.
"Oh, you'll see." He said, closing with a smirk. This guy though?
"I heard that he has been organizing a farewell party that is to be held two weeks from now at his home," Mike mumbled as he watched a girl he once shared a course with.
"And we're not invited?" Myles inquired.
"Family blood is strong people. I'll talk to him. He'll let us come. I know Elena is going to be there and I wouldn't miss such an event for the world." Lance blurted out of the blues.
"Guys, you seeing that chick over there?" Asked Mike.
"Yeah, the preacher's daughter?" Asked the other M. She was standing by herself probably texting someone on her phone, just a few meters away from them. She had tied her hair in a ponytail.
"Well, this disciple is going to catch himself a fish." He finished with a slight grin on his face.
"There is no way you can get that girl to date you!" Myles quivered.
"Really? Watch me!"
All they saw was Mike head out to the girl, stretched out his hands to greet her. After about thirty seconds a slap came over to Mike's sweet cheeks that were well exposed. On the other end, the two broke into laughter. He, however, shook his head in laughter.
Meanwhile, Ethan had just caught up with his parents after talking to some of his buds; Mark and Rafael for the past thirty minutes. Some goodbyes had been said too to some of his colleagues and pictures and jokes had been shared. They went ahead to wish each other good fortune. Sure enough, it seemed like a new chapter of his life was unveiling itself today.
"Ethan, have you seen your sister?" His father asked.
"No, I thought she was with you."
"She was but I haven't seen her for the past three hours."
"Maybe she got bored and left."
"My god, that child!" Layla hissed.
"Have you tried reaching out to her phone?"
"No." Answered Layla reaching for her purse and quickly fished out her phone and called her. Ingrid answered the call.
"Where are you?"
"Um... mom, I wasn't feeling good so I came back home. I'm sorry that I didn't inform you." Layla heard her struggling speech.
"What's wrong?" she asked. Her temper suddenly had changed. She was calmer. "Is it the dis–"
"No, no. It's something unrelated. I don't know if it's my period pains or something else." She answered. That was enough to throw off any speculations that they had of her.
"It's okay baby. We will be home soon. Rest well for now."
"Okay... bye.'' She then hung up.
Ethan and his father had been listening to the conversation. They pretty understood that that matter was not for them to get involved in. It was legit and that's all they needed to know. Young Mr. Purcell saw Elena talking to some of her colleagues. He decided to go talk to her... well it was saying goodbye in fact.
"Um, could I steal you for a moment?" He budged into their conversation. He knew that Shallon, the preacher's daughter, and Chanel had been great friends with her since they started studying at the University. Elena signaled them to walk away. They winked at her while making tongue-out poses. They chuckled as they walked away. She blushed. Ethan read the cues. He smiled a bit.
"So... what's up?" She asked as she turned to face him fully.
"I just came to say goodbye." He said as he headed to take her hands.
"Hmm... how cute is this?" She asked as she brushed her hair back her ear, clearly denying him her hands. Ethan stopped in his movement. Elena Stenfield sure made it hard for him.
"You looked beautiful today. Down there. On the stage." He said looking straight at her. Her dark pupil caught his attention like a fish to a hook. She was about to reply when Lance and his trio bumped on Ethan from behind.
"Umph!" He whined.
"So Ethan. I've heard that you will be hosting a farewell party a few weeks from now. And I'm not invited." Said Lance standing there, face dead, straight eyes staring at his nemesis. Ethan looked at Elena. She was still there watching the unraveling drama take place. It was still a surprise that she was still there! Whenever these two confronted each other in her presence she would always excuse herself. He drew his eyes back to Lance.
"So all this fuss is about a party? All the weird gazes you have been giving me the whole event was because you were not on a list of attendance to the damn party?" Ethan inquired scuffing a little laughter between his sentences. Lance's brows drew closer, his heart throbbing menacingly in his chest. His hands turned to a fist. He felt ashamed. Of course, he did. Ethan had just shamed him in front of his trio and Elena.
"Well, you're welcomed." He finally finished. "Bring your squad if you like too. See, I really don't hate you, Lance. You should have already figured that out by now. Bring the fun, bring the fire. But don't try anything stupid. I know how cheeky you can get so fast and I wish the rest of the world knew you the way I do."
"Don't worry mate. See you in a fortnight." Said Lance as he patted Ethan on his shoulder. He walked away but after he ensured he had bumped his shoulder against Ethan. He didn't even say anything to Elena this time. His chance to spend the day with her had been ruined after all. No need to save the sunken ship. He would get another opportunity in the future, that... he didn't mind. That guy though! Ethan looked on as they walked away and mumbled how he would one day kill him.
"Hey stop those evil thoughts!" Intervened Elena. She had been watching the whole incidence quiet as a church mouse.
"Hmm, I wish you knew what that dude has put me through these past two years." He scoffed.
"Hey enough about him!" She cried out. "Come on! All you ever think of is Lance! Lance! Lance! Get a grip, Ethan! You're far better than this!" What was she still doing here anyway?
He kept quiet, not seeming sure of what to say now with Elena's sudden temper.
"So I've been thinking... I'll be attending your party." She finally said seeming to have cooled so fast, so sudden.
"Wow! Great! Awesome!" He exclaimed, paused for a moment then asked," Wait. Are you coming because he is coming?" She rolled her eyes.
"What have I just told you about including Lance in your thoughts every now and then?"
"I'm sorry…" A slight chuckle escaped him.
"I am coming because you asked me to. I am coming to you. Because I like you!" She gave him a quick and sudden peck on his cheek and walked away immediately to join her parents, leaving him in deep thoughts.
He felt this sudden spark in his heart. It had been ignited for just a second but its effect was going to last the rest of the day. He let out a soft sigh, seeming to be at peace now. He was at the edge of his universe! Good grades! Rich family! Perfect mom and dad to guide him through the next stage of his life! And a pregnant sister by his side!
Wait, wait!
He didn't know that? He did not know that! Ingrid didn't know that! None of them knew that!
So yeah... good grades, rich family, loving mom and dad to guide him through the next stage of his life, a caring sister by his side, and a perfect relationship with the girl of his dreams upon the rise! What more could he want?
