Chapter 1 - Playing tag with a fairy

Clara was enjoying the view as she strolled through a forest while listening to the sound of birds singing.

She tried to gaze around the area in search of her target wondering if she would be able to finish her job early in the hopes of returning home in time to make dinner for her five younger siblings.

If she arrived late, the little brats would use that as an excuse to order twelve boxes of pizza again, and her wallet could not afford to take another hit like that.

'Anything?' asked a voice coming from the communicator in her left ear.

"Aside from a wonderful view, no traces of the little runaway fairy yet..." she replied.

'He must be somewhere around the place... Try to search for dark caves or deep holes... These things tend to enjoy hiding from the sunlight.'

"Why...? Are they weak to the sun like vampires?"

'What? No, they just like to sleep a lot... These guys go out every night so they spend the whole day snoring like trucks...'

"I see..."

'Which is why this is the perfect time to strike one of them! Don't waste this chance!'

"Aye, aye, cap!" Clara replied while walking and saluting with her hand.

She continued to look around the woods and finally began to hear a strange sound coming from somewhere close.

The young woman with blond hair tied up and wearing a black outfit started to sneak around the bushes to avoid getting spotted by the prey.

She arrived at a large cave that continued to emit the sound of a large beast breathing while being in a deep sleep.

"I think I found its home..." she commented to her partner.

'Nice! You remember what I said about its weakness and how to take it down?'

"Sure I do! ... ... ... But just in case..."

'Come on, Clara...' the voice commented while sighing.

"Sorry! Sorry!! I promise I'll pay more attention next time!!"

'Ugh...'

"Are you with me, partner?"

'Not like I have a choice...'

"That's the spirit!!"

'...'

Clara took out her twin daggers that she was keeping in her back and started to charge them with energy.

The blades filled the cave with light from their glow as the young lady entered the lair of the beast.

The sound of its snoring continued to grow as Clara advanced through the cave, making the girl have no trouble navigating towards its source. She did, however, began to worry about how she would do to get out of there later once she finished her job.

The sound of the creature finally became loud enough that served as an indicator that Clara had reached its destination. She entered a deeper area of the cave and stared at the being.

From a distance, it looked like some kind of purple mountain covered in white sand.

Upon a closer look, she managed to see that the sand was actually a massive pile of teeth and that the mountain was an extremely fat monster sleeping with its belly aimed at the ceiling. While his body was huge, its arms were surprisingly thin compared to the rest of it. Its face, however, was disturbingly ugly to look at, to the point that it looked like one of the terrible drawings that Clara's younger brother would often make.

Clara felt like she was going to throw up as she continued to come closer and began to smell his horrible, horrible breath.

"Oh, my God!! I'm gonna have to take twenty baths once I get home..." Clara commented.

'Did you find him?'

"Either that or I stumbled upon one of the kids from that chocolate factory movie..."

'Good! Now, move on with the protocol!'

"Ugh..." Clara groaned, "Do I have to...?? He's sleeping!! I could just end this right now!"

'You know the rules!'

"Fine..." Clara replied, followed by taking a deep breath and shouting with everything she had, "HEY, FATSO!!! WAKE UP!!!!"

The creature opened its eyes and began to shake its huge body, showering the girl with teeth.

"Ew, ew, ew!!!" Clara complained while trying to take the small objects from her hair.

"What...?? Wha... Who's there!!??" the monster asked.

"Hey, what's up?" Clara replied.

"Mmmm?? Who dares disturb my slumber!!!??"

"Santa Clauss..."

"What!?? What does that old fart wants with me?? Is this about our last poker game?? Because I told him that I wasn't hiding any cards!!" the monster stated while gazing at the cave trying to find Clara, but she was so small compared to him that it took a while to finally spot her.

"Wait... Santa is real? Ugh... Never mind... Are you the tooth fairy that has been terrorizing the city of Machasaster for the last two months?"

"Who wants to know??" he asked, still not being able to find Clara.

"Name is Clara! I'm a member of the Anti-Mythos organization! You have been accused of stealing the teeth from seventy-five children while they were sleeping."

"I'm a tooth fairy!! Getting their teeth is my job!!"

"Yeah, but you took all of their teeth, not just the baby ones!!"

"Details, details..."

Clara glared at the fat giant purple monster while wondering how in the world this guy managed to sneak into people's houses without being found out.

"Regardless..." she continued, "You are under arrest... Please come with me quietly or I will have to use brute force to bring you in."

The being finally saw Clara with her arms crossed staring at him and lowered his head to take a closer look at her.

"Oh, wow... You're tiny..." he commented.

"Oh, wow... You're ugly..." she replied, "Can we go now? I need to make dinner for five brats or they will murder my wallet..."

The tooth fairy grinned, "Yeah, no..."

He then raised his hand and attempted to squash Clara under its heavy palm.

The girl saw the attack coming and leaped away to get out of its trajectory.

"I thought I was in trouble for a moment, but you are barely worth worrying about... Now piss off and let me sleep..."

"I'm not a fly, mister... Er..."

"Chocobaculatacu! You better remember my name and respect me! Even among my kin, I'm quite famous!" he boasted.

"... I'm sorry... What's your name?"

"Chocobaculatacu!"

Clara just stared at him for a couple of seconds, "Yeah, I'm not gonna remember that even if my life depended on it... I'm just gonna call you Steven..."

"What...?"

"Ok, Steven... If you are not coming with me..." she commented while pulling out her daggers, "I'm gonna have to show you my ugly side!"

The creature raised its hands and tried to capture Clara one more time.

"Partner, how's the energy output?" she asked while analyzing the energy of her weapons.

'Power at full capacity! Go for it, Clara!!'

"Oh, so NOW I'm allowed to fight!" she mumbled.

Clara saw the purple hands coming at her and threw one of her daggers to the ceiling where it got stuck on a spike.

The creature tried to squash Clara again but once it moved his hand, he saw that there was nothing under it.

"What in the world...?" he wondered while gazing around the cave.

His eyes noticed that a strong glow was coming from above his head and when he moved his gaze, he spotted Clara on the ceiling grabbing the dagger that stabbed the spike.

"How did you get up there so fast?"

"I don't know... How did you get into people's houses with that gigantic belly? Some things are better off not thinking about it..." she joked.

The creature tried to stand up from the pile of teeth and revealed that, unlike its thin arms, it had quite the muscular pair of legs.

"Oh, boy..." Clara gasped as she saw the fairy jumping up to try and catch her.

She threw her dagger at the ground and in a matter of seconds, her whole body had vanished and reappeared where her weapon had been aimed at, successfully dodging Chocobaculatacu's attempt at catching her.

The girl used this chance to try and slash his legs, but the blades ended up being repelled by its thick skin. He tried to step on her, but she managed to dodge it by throwing her dagger into a stalactite and moving her body to it.

"Partner! What are his weaknesses?? My blades are not working!" she asked the voice in her communicator.

'Tooth fairies get stronger with the more teeth they possess... You have to destroy every single one of them!'

The giant continued to chase Clara around, but any time he would get closer to her, she would just throw her dagger away and teleport herself to a safe place following the blade's path.

"Aaaaghhh!! Stay still so I can crush you!!" the giant complained.

Clara continued to throw her weapons all over the cave and move everywhere they went like a yellow flash of light zig-zagging around, "Lovely offer, but I do enjoy my daily dose of being alive, so I'm gonna have to pass on that suggestion..."

The monster finally got tired of playing and raised its arms, aimed at the girl. His fingers then suddenly began to stretch like rubber and followed her with absurd speed while she continued to bounce from place to place.

'Oh! So that's how he entered the houses without being discovered...'

"Focus!!" Clara shouted.

'Sorry!!'

She tried to escape but the fingers of the fairy were much faster than she expected. Even with her teleportation blades, she felt she wouldn't be able to dodge them forever.

Her gaze moved to the monster's treasure, the pile of teeth.

"Hey, Steven!! You mind if I take some of these home with me??" she yelled as she rushed to the pile.

"Stay away from there, you brat!!"

Chocobaculatacu's fingers began to ignite themselves on fire as they dashed after Clara.

The girl continued her run as she turned around and watched the flames approaching.

"Gotcha!!" the fairy stated.

"And for my next trick..." she stated as she launched her blade at the giant's face.

The purple fairy didn't care as it knew his skin would never be harmed by these tiny blades, but right after he thought about that, he noticed Clara appearing right in front of him holding her dagger above his head.

The monster was so startled that he didn't even notice that his flames that were following her were now about to strike his beloved treasure.

"...I'm gonna make a pile of teeth disappear!!"

"Aaaaghhh!!!" he screamed as he spotted the pile being blown to bits by his own hands.

As the teeth turned into ashes, the creature's size began to shrink until it was about the size of a dollhouse.

"You little pest!!!" he screamed, "What have you done!!!??"

Clara united her two daggers into one and the blade began to grow twice in size as she continued to send her energy to it, and with one horizontal swing of her weapon, she sliced the fairy in two.

"Guaaaahhhh!!!" Chocobaculatacu shrieked as his body was split in half and perished while being burned by the energy of the daggers.

Clara landed on the ground and turned off her weapons while gazing at the former giant perishing.

"Told you you should have come quietly..." she commented, "Job complete, partner!"

'Good job, Clara!'
