Maria prayed to anything and everything that was seeing or hearing her. Her heart pounded in her chest and her pulse ran like in a marathon and it could be felt in her temple, throbbing loudly.
With each footstep getting closer to her hiding place, her breathing increased, her hold on the door got tighter.
A sudden harsh tug at the door made her realise that her time was up.
She put all her weight back to keep the door closed.
" She's in here. " She heard loud and clear just beyond the door before it started to get pulled.
She put her last ounce of strength in keeping it steady but it was proving to be futile, since she was losing her grip on it.
Just before she was ouled forward, a loud shout made her perk up with a hope.
" POLICE!! " The voice said, one of her kidnappers and then running sounds of people made her release the breath she was holding.
She sighed and sagged against the door.
