*Adam waves his hand, and an array of floating screens appear before me, each displaying different aspects of Aearth.*
"These screens represent the various facets of Aearth, and you can interact with them to observe and influence events directly."
Oh, whoa. Cool. Can I touch the screens or no?
"Go ahead. It's set to view mode now, so nothing you touch will affect anything. For now, that is."
Nice.
*I flick the screen with a map, and the images move.*
Ah, this one moves like a GPS screen, except it's for the whole world.
"Hmm. Interesting concept."
Wait what? You don't know how this thing works?
"These screens are of your imagination. I merely brought them to life. How each administrator manages their world is unique to their own."
Huh. So, what, all of these screens are based on my imagination? They do look like my computer screens back in the office.
*I turn to Adam, but he's just staring at the screen, scrolling some screens himself.*
"It's a rather convenient way to read and store things, I see."
Uhh...Adam?
"Hmm? Oh, my apologies. Do you have any questions for me?"
Yeah. Is there anything I should do first? I can start reading about everything here, but I assume that by the time I finish, Aearth will already be long gone.
*Adam held his chin in thought.*
"It is true, but I recommend reading through some of it. One of the most important things to read is the events in your world."
*Adam points to one of the screens displaying some news articles.*
"I suggest understanding the key players and the major events shaping the world right now... I must say, all this is extremely useful. I could most definitely use some of these in my work. Is that okay, Mr Donald?"
Uhh...you can if you want. Aren't you like the god of worlds?
"Hmm. I must remind you that my title is 'Administrator of Worlds'. While I am capable of many more things than most administrators, I, too, am an Administrator. I can't just willy-nilly steal another administrator's work style or work. Neither can I interfere with worlds that I have no control over. There are many rules for Administrators, and I am no exception to them."
Hmm...is that so? I've always wondered why the gods never did anything to fix Earth and stuff, but I guess there were rules that they had to follow.
"Oh, Earth doesn't have an Administrator. It's the birthplace of many Administrators, that's all."
...what? So, we don't have a god?
"Something like that. But Earth does manage itself just fine, and I've been here since its creation, and it turned out just fine."
Uh-huh. Sure. What you said just blew my mind, but I guess it's just me.
"Hmm, strange, many Administrators from Earth before you said the same thing."
I would think so. Anyway, enough about that. What were you saying before?
"Hmm? Oh right. You should get to know the key players in your world and the major events affecting the world the most. For example..."
*Adam flicks the screen with the news articles and continues until he finds something.*
"There, see this one? Betrayal! King Romero Dies Due To Assassination By Hero Prince. This was one of the major events that propelled Aearth to collapse. When something as unnatural as this happens, a world gets destabilised due to the events it leads to."
Hmm? Hold on. King Romero? I don't recall...wait. Romero? My main character in the game?! He became the king?! Since when?! He was supposed to have died during the final boss fight...
"Well, that's what we Administrators call a timeline anomaly. When events in worlds don't happen according to what the original creators intended, the world steers off-course to another set of events, which are completely random and unpredictable."
Can we do anything about it? If it's so severe that it changes history, I think the rules allow this, right?
"Unfortunately, no. Once an event happens in the world you manage, it has happened. You can't change what happened in the past, after all. We can't control time, after all."
Ah, that makes so much sense I can't argue at all. Wait, how about those worlds that have invented time travel? I've read a lot of stories while I was alive on Earth. Weren't those worlds able to manipulate time?
"Those worlds get filtered out automatically. When a world has concepts that will definitely jeopardize reality itself, it will not manifest because reality itself will not allow this world to have the power to destroy itself."
...I am speechless at how this whole world system works.
"I don't know why you even doubt it wouldn't. You were part of the system not so long ago. But let us move to the important thing."
*Adam points to the article and pinches it, manifesting it into a piece of paper.*
"You see this piece of paper? And you see these details underneath this main title here? These are the key players, their role in this event, and the rest of the paper, are the events that led up to this event."
So, you're saying it can give me more information about this particular event? Can't I just view it on my screens?
"You can. I'm just showing you my way of looking at these events."
Ah, right. So, just like this?
*I imagine tapping the article and the article blinking on the screen, and I imagine the screen will expand itself into a wider one, displaying all the information on one big screen. As I do so, it all happens according to my imagination.*
"Hmm, well done. You're already getting the hang of using your powers."
Thank you. I think I can just read these for now. Romero becoming king and dying seems really concerning to me. Must be one of the fanfics or something.
"Well, if you need me, just yell my name, and I'll be right with you instantly."
*Adam turns, walks away, and fades out of existence while I stare bewildered at what just happened over the last few moments.*
Wow. It's still so crazy to think Aearth is a real world now. How did Romero survive the last boss fight and become king in the first place?
Anyway, let's get to reading this thing.
