"I have to sacrifice my life," Malia finally said it out loud.
Zedicus widened his eyes at her. Malia nodded her head at him to assure him that she was not joking. That she was very serious about what she was saying.
"I know I'm scared but I have to do it. There is no other way Zedicus," Malia told him.
"Malia are you sure about this? You're still so young. I never asked you to sacrifice your life. Isn't there another way? There has to be another way to work this out," Zedicus tried to talk Malia out of it.
"There is no other way. This is the only way. We both know the truth," Malia told him.
Zedicus exhaled sharply as he stared at Malia. Malia saw a cloud of sadness come over his eyes but just as fast as it came, so did it go.
"You are brave. Just like Diane was. I will forever respect you," Zedicus finally told her. He avoided her eyes in the process.
