"...As I'm sure you're all aware, the more understanding you have of a magical circle, the easier it will be to cast. It is already simple enough to cast magic with a staff or wand; but if a magic circle is well understood, if one has enough talent, they may be able to cast magic without a staff..."
Licht frowned as he turned to his right; there Matt sat with his lips in a scowl and his brows scrunched up. He scribbled on his notebook occasionally, muttering lowly to himself. It made Licht's ears irritated.
Licht's scowl intensifies as he turned to his left, a purple-haired, pink-eyed girl stared down at the blackboard with a dazed expression. Licht huffed as he remembered earlier this morning, he had come into the classroom quite early considering last night.
He walked to his seat when he saw her seating in his usual position. Licht walked up to her, "Hey, you're on my seat." He had said, but she turned to him with a smile. It looked sweet from the outside, but when he looked into her eyes, he could clearly see her assessing him. Licht knew; he knew lots of people who gave him that look.
"Really?" She asks with a pout as she placed her finger on her bottom lip, trying to act cute. "Well," she exclaims before continuing. "It's not like we had permanent seats to begin with, so I don't mind if you seat next to me."
Licht clenched his fists; she had wanted this since the beginning! He didn't want to be anywhere near any of the noble and their obnoxity. So, he had two options, stay up here and ignore her or go down and endure the noble's obnoxiousness.
…...Obviously, he picked the former. It wasn't as bad as he thought, at least she kept her mouth shut. Still, it irked him. Why would someone go so far just to sit next to him?
Licht clicks his tongue loudly and turns away. Alice turns with him with a wide grin, "Oh my! ~ Did I hit a nerve?~" She teases without fear as she pokes him with a finger. Still, he continuously ignores her.
Matt notices them both, "Huh? Since when did you two get so close?"
Licht shuts his eyes tightly as he desperately tries to ignore them, but it was proving difficult.
"You fiend!" She uses her sleeve to wipe her eyes, "It isn't polite to ignore a woman." She sniffed as if trying to make her fake tears known.
Licht huffed as he slammed his palms on the table; he stood up abruptly and his chair clattered behind him. He walks down the stairs angrily; "Young man, where do you think you're-"
"The bathroom."
*Slam*
That's how he ended up here, on the rooftop. He stared up at the clouds with a dazed yet satisfied expression. It was boring, but at least it was quiet.
"Isn't it dangerous up here?"
'Are you fricking kidding me?' Licht thought to himself. He hadn't even finished his thought when someone had interrupted him. Was it so hard to find some peace and quiet?! He turned towards the voice, to meet a man. One with ash-grey hair and bright green eyes. He looked middle-aged and handsome with a bit of fuzz on his chin.
Licht sighed but didn't reply. Sure, the rooftop was slanted and steep, hence dangerous, but he was fine with it. It meant that fewer people had access to it.
"Fine. You don't have to reply." The man replied sarcastically as he inhaled smoke from his cigarette. He....wait, what? A cigarette? They had those here?!
Licht had never thought of this, but ignoring the fact they didn't have cars and TVs and phones; this world might be more advanced than the previous world. And that's all thanks to the magic they always try to improve.
He bit his lip as he ran this piece of information in his head continuously. The sun shone into his eyes startling him, but it was soon blocked by the strange man from before.
"You okay, kid?" His gravelly voice asked in concern. It was the voice of a true man. "I was calling you earlier but you didn't reply. Don't you have a class to be in now?" His eyes were tired as he looked down at the bustling students of the Academy as they rushed to their next class; the bell had already rung.
Licht took a quick glance down, but quickly met the man's eyes. He had noticed since a while ago, but something about this man's mana felt...off. Licht didn't know how to explain it, but the man's mana was different from any human he had encountered.
"Mister," Licht called slowly as he gradually got up to a sitting position. "What are-" Something pale-looking peeked out from his grey hair; it was pointy. And it was connected to his skin; was that …..his ear?! Does that mean...
"Ah, crap. Viscar's gonna give me hell," He says putting out his used cigarette. "Gotta go now." He says with a grunt as he got to his feet.
"Wait-" Licht called but he was already gone. All he left behind was a magic circle that glowed a dark blue, indigo to be exact. Licht knew this skill, [Teleport]. One of his most used magic.
Anyways, ignoring that, was that man really an elf? Elves?! They exist here?!
