Chapter 35 - Upgrade

Chen Long was the name Long Chen had adopted, the same name he used to register as a hunter.

Hun Yun had felt that since Long Chen was not only more powerful than him, and also more talented, he should rather resign and let him become the leader instead.

After all, strength and potential rules within the cultivation world.

As for whether or not he is trustworthy, the eyes at the gates to their souls. Hun Yan had met many people in his life and has experienced quite a few betrayals.

He could be said to know who could be trusted, and who should not.

Long Chen's eyes were pure and void of ill-intent, and he was sure that Long Chen did not harbor any malicious ideas towards them.

A few of the gang members quickly expressed their dissatisfaction at this. Hun Yan was their leader for many years, and they were all loyal to him.

But thinking of Long Chen's strength, the protests swiftly died down.

They also believed that their leader was doing it for a reason, so they trusted his decision.

Long Chen was stunned by this sudden turn of events, as he froze there for a few moments, before he regained his composure, as he politely rejected, "I'm sorry, but I have no intentions of becoming the leader. I'm only here as a normal member of this gang who hunt down monsters."

He was a disciple of the Moonlight Sect, and he was only here in a disguise. How could he become a leader of the gang?

Most importantly, it didn't give him much interest. Their strength was too low, and judging by the rate he was improving, he would easily leave them behind.

To put it harshly, they were useless.

However, he could not and would not directly say that, which was why he opted out for a polite excuse instead.

He was not going to stay within the gang for long anyways.

Hun Yan was quite disappointed by Long Chen's response, and he continued to pester him for a while, but Long Chen still gave him the same resolute answer, and he could only give up.

They stayed in the Wailing Ghost Hill for a few days, branching out into different groups as some hunted the Grade 2 Monsters, while Hun Yang and Long Chen teamed up together against some of the Low Grade 3 Monsters.

Each time they gathered and collated their gains, Long Chen would also stop beside each and every one of the corpses.

Although they did not know why Long Chen did that for, by he was by far the strongest, so it didn't really matter to them.

And Long Chen, on the other hand, was joyfully absorbing talent by talent unrestrainedly as he crouched by every single Grade 2 Monsters.

Being in a gang was indeed different. With so many people working together, they managed to kill more than he usually did.

Although he did not get the experience of killing the various Grade 2 Monsters, it didn't really matter to him right now, because he was focusing on enhancing his talent.

Each time he absorbed the respective talents, he would always allocate it to his Alchemy Talent.

The gang had hunted down around 80 Grade 2 Monsters, and with the talents between Tier 3 to Tier 6.

While him and Hun Yan had hunted down a few other Grade 3 Monsters.

This allowed him to successfully break through into the Second Elementary Realm.

And Long Chen was thoroughly stunned during this entire hunting process.

He was only in the First Elementary Realm, and yet he was able to easily deal with Grade 3 Monsters.

In the past, he was able to faintly jump realms and fight, the normal capabilities of a usual genius.

But now, his strength right now could even faintly compare to the mid-stage of the Elementary Realm, the 4th Elementary Realm!

And he did not remember doing anything out of the world. His proficiency of his skills did not improve much, and neither did he train his battle prowess against any monsters

The only thing he did was to breakthrough into the Elementary Realm.

Unless, his ability to surpass multiple realms was because of his breakthrough? Did he do something special during his breakthrough, which others never did before?

He scratched his head and tried to contemplate on this matter, but could not think of anything else.

As he absorbed one talent after another, he felt his affinity towards Alchemy increase bit by bit, just as though it was dripping water into a pot, and filling it up.

[Alchemy Talent Mortal Tier 6 levelled up to Mortal Tier 7]

[Alchemy Talent Mortal Tier 7 levelled up to Mortal Tier 8]

[Alchemy Talent Mortal Tier 8 levelled up to Mortal Tier 9]

His alchemy talent managed to break through 3 times, as Long Chen revealed a huge grin after he was done with all this, his heart filled with utter satisfaction and pleasure.

As the gang members saw Long Chen's sudden smile that came out of nowhere, they were totally bewildered.

Was there something to be elated about after crouching down and placing a hand on each and every one of their monster corpses?

This action of his was simply crazy. But they didn't dare to say that out aloud. Who knew if he would be angered?

They just shook their hands and turned their gazes away.

Long Chen did not bother about their strange stares.

How could they possibly think that he was actually increasing his talent?

And as his Alchemy Talent broke through to the Mortal Tier 9, another notification rang out.

[Cultivation Talent Mortal Tier 12 levelled up to Mortal Tier 13]

As the voice landed, his entire body felt like it was floating on clouds. He was thoroughly rejuvenated and felt refreshed throughout his body.

He spread out his arms wide as he manipulated the surrounding Qi to enter his body, and he was completely startled by the result.

His cultivation speed has at least increased by 50%! This meant that his two days of cultivation in the past will equal to his current one and a half day!

Although this may not seem like much, by as the scale enlarges, the difference also increases.

It seems like as the tier of the Cultivation Talent rises, the difference between the rates of cultivation speed will also increase.

Long Chen couldn't help but let out a hearty laugh at this moment.

Not only did he upgrade his Alchemy Talent, his Cultivation Talent has similarly risen.

He was in a really good mood right now, and as the gang gathered around a camp fire and started cooking a few of the monsters to eat, he similarly participated.

The atmosphere that day was especially warm and vibrant, with everyone letting their nerves loose and having fun within the forest.

They were currently gathered within the outer depths of the forest, so there was not really a need to worry about danger right now.

After the campfire, they collected all their materials and stored the monster bodies, as they all prepared to leave the forest.

Their spoils were quite abundant this time, and with the addition of Long Chen, the Elementary Realm master, they managed to hunt more than they usually did.

With smiles on their faces, the entire group treaded out of the forest, and as their presence was somewhat strong within the outer depths of the forest, none of the monsters dared to come forward and attack them.

Along the way, Long Chen abruptly opened his mouth to ask, "When do you think the Wild Wolf Gang will come to attack?"

Hun Yan thought for a while, before he answered, "They can't openly attack us out in the public. They should be attacking us before we leave the forest."

As he said down, he heightened his senses as he looked around the four directions, trying to see if they were nearby.

"That's true. I can sense them coming already." Long Chen turned towards Hun Yan, then gripped his sword in his hands.

The sword was still stained with the blood of monsters, with faint red dots decorating it, giving it a slightly baleful aura.

Hearing Long Chen words, Hun Yan's face immediately tensed up, and he shouted, "Prepare for battle!"
