Chapter 9 - Shadow Sword Skill

The next day.

Long Chen woke up, refreshed.

He had already figured out his plan.

Kill monsters, then come back in a magnificent fashion, making a name for himself on the Heaven's Pride Ranking.

Even though he was now standing steadily at the 3rd Qi Refinement Realm, he did not believe that he would be able to win against those at the 4th or the 5th Qi Refinement Realm.

His cultivation period could only amount to a few measly days, how much combat prowess could he probably have?

Even if he had already spend 2 to 3 days to kill Beast, how could his combat knowledge and experience be comparable to those who had trained for years?

Not to mention surpassing Realms to fight, he was sure he was unable to fight against those in the same Realm.

He was akin to a weak little flower who looked nice, but was ultimately, yeah…weak.

He was about to leave the sect, when he realized something.

He had revealed his talent out to the entire Wind Cloud City, and he was sure that he had alerted many powerful individuals.

Although there most would treat him with a friendly attitude, he was sure that a select few were dying for him to be killed.

Jealously, hatred, fear for his talent. Whatever. He was definitely going to be targeted.

He pondered for a while, then turned his back and walked toward the direction of the Combat Skill Pavilion.

Within every Sect, there was will definitely be a place meant for storing all the different combat skills that the sect had accumulated through its years of deep history.

They were the representation of the Sect's lifeline. If that place was burnt down one day, the Sect's destruction will come soon after.

The Sect's inheritance and history, burnt to disappearance.

Who would still want to stay in the Sect.

This was how important the Combat Skill Pavilion was to the Moonlight Sect.

Thus, there was always a mysterious elder who guarded the Combat Skill Pavilion unknowingly, protecting it from harm.

The majestic pavilion appeared within his eyes.

It was decorated with elegant designs, and two dragon like statues that were placed at the entrance, radiating a peerless might, as though it was warning the visitors not to try anything funny.

As he had worn a green robe that signified his position in the sect, the disciple standing guard at the entrance barely paid him a glance as he signaled for him to enter.

Long Chen felt that his journey within the Sect was missing important.

What happened to the arrogant young master who walked around as though they owned the Sect?

What happened to the strong bullying the weak?

What happened to the people who unknowingly didn't like his face, and decided to insult and beat him up?

His current situation, was far too quiet.

It was not that Long Chen was being paranoid, but it was far too strange and quiet.

Just then, he saw a figure suddenly appear out from nowhere, as he stared at him with deep and profound eyes.

Because the Pavilion was rather dark, he was unable to see the other person's face clearly, but he was still able to feel a sense of oppression from him.

It was not specifically directing against him. It was the natural oppression that a strong person exudes when he meets a weakling.

This person, is as unfathomable as the Sect Leader. Long Chen squinted his eyes.

Before he was able to say anything, the figure spoke in a deep voice

"Bone age of 13, 3rd Qi Refining Realm, Mortal Tier 11 Talent. The real person is even more impressive than the rumors itself."

The figure apparently, possessed goodwill toward him. This lowered his guard.

"It is all luck, as well as my hard work." Long Chen humbly replied.

This man could kill him with a single palm strike, of course he had to lower himself.

"Luck is a part of strength. But your unordinary talent cannot be denied. Don't belittle yourself."

The figure said in a wise tone, his voice seemingly to contain a lot of stories.

This was a person who had deep experience.

"Yes I will. I will respectfully learn from your wise teachings." Long Chen bowed his head.

By now, it was evident that this figure was the mysterious wise elder who guarded the Pavilion.

The Elder looked at him with rather shocked eyes.

His talent was enough for him to boast of his entire life, but instead of being full of oneself, he was instead willing to learn from his mistakes.

What an exemplary character! The Elder couldn't help but praise.

Of course, he didn't know what Long Chen was thinking, if not he would have immediately sent him out of the Pavilion with a slap.

Not only is he the guardian of the Pavilion, he also possesses deep cultivation. I forgot to fish for rewards from the Sect Leader previously. What a dumb mistake!

This Elder should have something to make up for the loss.

Although dignity was important, but his life was even more so. If the Elder actually managed to take out something that could help him, then he could better protect his life outside.

As for seeking for protection from others, no way. He always acted alone.

Suddenly, the Elder turned around and looked like he was about to leave, when Long Chen called him out.

Why was he going to let off his precious gold mine run away from him without being excavated yet?

"Elder…You see, I am currently lacking something to protect myself. Do you have any treasure or skill to allow me to better protect myself ?" Long Chen lightly coughed out, trying to dispel of his embarrassment.

Black lines immediately appeared on the Elder's forehead.

With his many years of life experience, how was he unable to tell what was happening?

When Long Chen saw that the Elder was not speaking, he quickly added.

"What if I meet with trouble outside the Sect, and is unable to protect myself? A Mortal Tier 11 Talent, mysteriously dying in a forest, killed by a random beast? That doesn't sound nice…does it?"

The Elder was rendered speechless, his year of accumulated wisdom and eloquence disappearing into the air.

This was a blatant threat! Long Chen knew that he was the Sect's most precious treasure right now, and he was making use of this to threaten him.

And he actually complimented him for his character just now.

The fox had finally showed its tail!

Sighing deeply, he could only helpless take out an antique looking book that was stained with dust, and passed it onto Long Chen

"This is a sword skill that I had picked up from the Ancient Ruins a few years ago. I had spent a few years to comprehend it, but was only able to comprehend half of it. At my current cultivation, this skill is not much use to me, but as for you, it may provide you some aid"

Long Chen raised his gaze up from the book to look at the Elder with gratitude.

"Thank you for your blessings!"

"You are lucky that you are able to learn this skill. If you didn't remind me, I would have already forgotten about it." The Elder casually waved his sleeves, showing his indifference.

"Luck is a part of strength. I believe that with this, at least you will be able to see a complete piece of me when I come back from my trip." Long Chen replied.

What greeted him was just a faint shadow disappearing into the darkness.

The Elder had left.

He lowered his gaze down onto the book, and a alert appeared within his mind.
