Tears started to pool in my eyes as I looked up at Nick. He came closer to me and hugged me as I cried on his sholder. "Why would she do this to me?" I said my voice breaking.
"Shhh, It's going to be okay, we're going to find her. Everything is going to be okay." he said softly.
"How.. How will you find her?" I asked softly.
"The police got one of the guys that were...With your mother. He got injured and couldn't run away. They're trying to get some answers out of him right now." He answered. I calmed down a bit, but continued to cry softly, He cupped my cheeks with his hands and wiped away my tears then kissed my forehead, "you're going to be safe with me, okay?" I nodded and stopped crying completely, wiping my eyes. "You must be hungry...I'll get you some food, alright?" I nodded and he stood up and headed out the door with one last look towards me. I sighed and rested my back on the hospital bed, a tear fell from my eye but I wiped it away quickly as Ethan and Grayson walked in the room, each carrying one of the twins in their arms.
"Hey.." I said softly and flashed a small smile at them, they smiled back and came closer to my bed side. Grayson went to hand me Melody as she was in his arms, I winced when I extended my arms to hold her but covered it quickly so they wouldn't notice, which thankfully they were too distracted, by Angel to do so.
After a little while of playing with the kids and talking with my friends, someone knocked on the hospital door. I looked up to see someone I thought I'd never see again through the small glass window, when it opened I felt my heart stop beating for a second as they looked at me. Once Ethan and Grayson looked up from the babies, they stood in front of my hospital bed protectively.
"Hey..." She said awkwardly.
"What are you doing here, Madison?" Grayson said angrily through gritted teeth at the girl, spitting her name out like it was venom.
"I h-heard what happened with the house and everything so I came here to check on he-" she answered startled by his tone but was soon interrupted by me saying, "well, as you can see, We're fine. You can leave now," coldly.
"Look I know you hate us for what we did but can you please hear me out?" She said pleadingly as she stepped closer towards me and the boys. I searched her face for a minute. I didn't want to give in and I wasn't thrilled about the idea of her being in the same room as me but I sighed and nodded my head nonetheless.
"Hey, Guys? Can you please give us a second alone?" I asked him. They glanced at me and gave me the 'are you sure?' Look. I just nodded and they left. Madison grabbed a chair and dragged it to one side of the bed and sat on it. I lowered my head, finding the bruises on my arms interesting all of a sudden.
"Look, I know we hurt you and that person...and that wasn't right, we really didn't want it to go that far but it did, and we...we want to take it back, we do! But i-it's impossible. We feel horrible and we want to make it up to you and then maybe everything will go back to normal and we can go back to how things used to be between us, all of us." She said her voice cracking.
"Nothing will go back to normal Madison. Everything that you've done, it...It's just hard. My future could have been ruined, you know that, right? I wouldn't of been able to graduate or go to Harvard, have a job..hell I could've been in jail right now for something I didn't do! And THAT person's life is ruined because of you!" I screamed the last part at her as I put a hand through hair.
"I get that, I do! But you didn't, and I feel guilty and horrible because I was the reason that, that person's life is ruined, but now my brother's the one in jail, Bella. And he's innocent! No one seems to believe that he was there at the wrong time in the wrong place. So please, just give us both a chance to make it up to you." She said pleadingly, a tear rolling down her cheek. I sighed again and said, "okay, but it won't be that easy." She smiled softly and nodded then said, "so, what the hell happened to you?" I glanced at her and told her what happened. Everything felt normal again, it felt like old times.
It would be very hard and it will take time, but at that moment I couldn't help but think that maybe everything can go back to normal.
