I remembered what I wanted to write yesterday, but I'm changing the content into more of a rant.
So... the pacing I'm talking about is the original novel ones. If you have read them here on Webnovel, you might have noticed that a lot of novels just slow to a crawl at a certain point.
The best sample of it is Mech Touch. I must admit, the first 300+ chapters are one of the best you can find anywhere. The problem starts at the war arc. This are is over 800 chapters long and it covers 5 years of story. And every thing after the war arc covers 2-3 years, in over a 1000 chapters.
I must add that not only does the story slow down so much, the overall quality of it also lowers with the start of the war arc. Trust me, I have read it all. I was an of reader, when it had less that 100 chapters, and I continued to read into the 500s, but dropped it so I could pick it up.
In the summer last year I picked it up again, and binged it. I was very disappointed... no, dissatisfied. Disappointed isn't the most correct word. It just feels like the author got greedy and stopped caring about the quality, only about pumping out as many chapter as possible with as little plot progression as possible.
So the guality I'm talking about is the plot and story, and not so much the writing, although it too took a hit, a small one, but still.
This can be seen in a lot of novels, even not the 'original' novels, so if you see one that's over a 1000 chapters long, you might as well prepare yourself.
But don't be scared off by my words, Mech Touch is just the worst case scenario.
If you want to see a good case, look at the Birth of the Demonic Sword. This is a good novel in my opinion, it isn't the best, but it has a unique spin on it. I can't really say much about the pacing, since unless it annoys me I don't pay attention to it. So simply said, it didn't dissatisfy me like Mech Touch did.
This problem is also very noticeable in the newer novels found in energy voting. But then again, there are good ones as well, so don't dismiss them.
However, if you have been on this site/app for some time already then you should already know these things.
I feel like I expressed my self badly in this chapter, and brought up bad examples, but that doesn't sound like my problem. You should check them yourself to either prove me wrong or correct.
