Centuries ago, in the Shuto empire, the Dunwich family of guardians arose, who were direct descendants of the creator god, a being worshiped and revered by the beast people and demons.
They were so coveted that countries captured them to seize their power, but their excessive desire made the life of the Dunwiches shortened to extinction
As there were no more guards, it was decided to use saints to stop the Charix. Candidates were taken as pupils to the temple of Lior and in a selection ceremony they were awarded the honor of being the next saints for each country.
Applicants from all walks of life spent years training to awaken their power, and among them was the orphan Capella Nova. Her desire to help combat her threat led her to come out of hiding and run. But when she finally enter the selection list, the envy of those seeking the position exceeded logic.
Suphi Queeny, the daughter of a Perz nobleman, in cahoots with others, drugged her, into the ranger area in the mountains to be savagely raped and thus ruined her honor along with the right to be a saint. After being left to her fate to bleed to death, the Kiddos found her and rescued her.
She got up a week later and as far as she could she came to the ceremony. Rumors destroyed her reputation, calling her a low-class prostitute and the high priest turning a deaf ear to her demand for justice denied her entry. Hurt and furious, she cursed the kingdom of Perz, as her name was erased from the registry.
Waiting at the door for Suphi and her friends to come out, she used a shotgun hidden in a Kiddo`s ring to blow their heads off. The girl who lost her mind and was about to be arrested, looked up at the sky and announced that Perz would disappear by provoking the wrath of God. She showed up as a Dunwich, and a Jabberwocky came up to take her away.
The terrible mistake that Perz made reached the ears of all countries and panic seized them, when the next day, three charix opened a rift in the middle of Perz to end the entire country.
Capella enlisted in Juno's army and King Cooper, who was Sheldon and Thomas's grandfather, gave her full immunity and a place among his people, as long as she dedicated herself to closing the cracks. The countries allied with Juno in order to obtain protection from the guardian at the border.
She fought like a madman with extreme hatred earning the title of Butcher and that even though she was pregnant she did not stop at her duties. When Russell was born, she vowed to protect and train him at all costs so that no one would try to take him away to use as a puppet.
They had no titles or land, just a shack in the slums and the citizens hailed her as a hero. All that she received as rewards she poured into the community center that she created to help the poor, mostly orphans. Russell befriended many children and especially the princes who came with his grandfather and ran away to play with him.
Cooper gave her more money for her restructuring projects, but the good was short-lived and the king's time came. His son Bruno took power, ending the glory of the kingdom. He raised taxes to finance his absurd expenses and left the defense at the border at the mercy of the Charix.
She went out to fight with the few men she counted on, but she was seriously injured creating fear among the allies who demanded that they comply with her conditions.
Finding himself cornered, Bruno contrived with Prime Minister Oswald Vixx to take custody of Russell, to use it for his benefit. Bruno promised Capella to give her son a title and protection in exchange for him going to fight on the border and in his absence, she would receive financial aid.
She loved her son so much that she wanted to give him a future and he longed to give his mother everything she deserved, but if they had read the contract, it would not have even occurred to them to sign, since for the Vixx, having not generated heirs, Ross would not he would be entitled to nothing until his majority.
Capella's illness got worse and due to lack of care she relapsed on several occasions. When Ross returned, her health improved a little not to worry him, but it broke her heart to see him overexert himself and she relapsed again.
At the age of 19, Ross was fighting in Shuto when simultaneously another rift opened in Juno, releasing parasite-type charix that possessed the citizens. Bruno and Oswald besieged the place, withdrew all protection troops and left the town in the middle of a fire.
Ross returned urgently by closing the rift in Shuto only to find his hometown in a pandemonium where people ate each other. He deployed his men to take down the parasites and saw Capella fighting so others could escape. He went to help her but a charix was about to possess him from behind. With what little strength she had, Capella used her speed to be the one possessed and not her child.
To Ross's horror, his distraction made his mother a victim of the enemy. Her consciousness was fading fast and she didn't want to become a freak so, she brought the barrel of the shotgun to her temple but her son stopped her.
Through tears she asked him to flee but he refused, hugging him gave him his last wish, to seek his predestined companion and to be happy to complete the Dunwich mission. Unbeknownst to him, she had taken the gun from him and in a struggle the gun went off.
Shock paralyzed him and when he reacted, the blind anger he carried turned into pain and bitterness. The soldiers saw his commander holding the corpse of his mother and at the same time all the Charix ran towards him.
Ross let out a heartrending scream and a light exploded devastating all the charix around him. When clarity returned, Ross's lament caused all of his comrades to fall to their knees to cry. Sheldon ran desperately to stop his commander from shooting himself and he just cried in his arms nonstop.
No one tolerated the death of Capella and pointed to the crown as responsible for the massacre by blocking the escape routes. The soldiers for their part, declared in mourning for their former commander and refused to follow the orders of the kings.
At the mass funeral, Sheldon had to carry his cousin who did not react and refused to talk from crying so much.
Thomas and Sheldon swore in front of the grave of his aunt, end the tyranny of his parents and uncles, planning a coup to give relief to Ross, who under the promise of revenge went back to work as if nothing had happened past.
Betting on the future, Tom persuaded Bruno to place Ross as prime minister and supreme commander to appease the masses and avoid the wrath of the allies, while Shel was granted clemency for attempting to assassinate him and stripped him of the crown prince title. They were only paving the way to his revenge by getting support under the table before toppling him.
Ross never forgave himself for pulling the trigger, and guilty was slowly consuming him. He agreed to everything they told him to comply with the will of his mother, but he found himself betrayed again.
He found a way out by being alone in the demonic forest atoning for his guilt and when he reached some peace, Edaleen fell on him.
He thought that by being a fairy godmother he could give back to his mother but the answer cut off his hopes. It was only later that he realized that the fairy in front of him was the woman he had been waiting for all his life.
The day he found out he was going to be a father, he saw his mother smiling at him on the balcony. When he approached there was a blue butterfly, he knew that she was always by his side and through tears thanked him. He was finally able to free himself from the burden on her chest to continue on his way giving the long-awaited goodbye to his mother when the butterfly flew away.
