KIMBERLY POV:
My name is Kimberly Grant. I am the first child and only daughter of David and Rebecca Grant. We live in a small town called Bedford. It was a very peaceful town but my parents fight like cat and dog throughout the years we lived there. Mum really tried to be there for us but it wasn't enough because she was always looking battered, tired and lifeless most of the time. I pity her because the man she called the love of her life, as she so called him, turned her into punching bag mostly everyday.
I left the home when I turn 18 and I made a promise to Nathan, my teenage brother, and Mum to get them out of that house, since then I worked three side jobs to help Mum and save money for the house I want to buy for us to live in and I already made an enquiry for one. The real estate manager I contacted said the owners just vacated and need people who can take care of the house while living there, hence reducing the market price of the house. I was so happy and I realised it's been so long since I had been this happy.
Due to my straight A's result from school, I was given a full-time scholarship to study at the Bedford University here in my hometown and that reduced my expenses. I have to pay for Nathan's school fees because I want him to get the best which I was denied and he is a very intelligent, humble and smart boy with a cute face. I don't want there to be a trace of David in him and him that's why I'm so happy that after this month, the money for the house will be complete and we'll be able to get away from David at last.
I'm in my third year of Business Management in Bedford University and Nathan is in his last year of high school and will be graduating soon. He excelled far than his colleagues. He's just 18 years old while I'm 20 years old.
NATHAN'S POV:
A little introduction of myself my name is Nathan Grant I am the last child of David and Rachel Grant I have an older sister whose name is Kimberly Grant. I don't really know much of that but all I can say about me is that he is a bully who beat Mum at everytime I get and Kimberly tries to provide for us at home by a working three side just together while on a full-time scholarship in Bedford University my sister is a third-year business management student and one of their top ranking students there.
"Brat, go and get me my shoes before I slap your face and make sure you polish them for me. You and your mother are useless to me, so make your me feeding you in this house balanced and always tend to my shoes since I provide for this house and I'm the head of the house. Am I understood?" My father shouted. I quickly went about the task I was assigned to avoid being beating.
The monster left home not long and I quickly dress up for school. I met my three friends: Noah, Alex and Tyler, at the school entrance including Amelia,Tyler's sister.
"Man, why are you always late? You gonna make Mr Starspring mad again. I already suggested picking you up every morning but you don't me down." Alex said. The reason why I turned him down was that I didn't want the guys to know what's going on in my house.
"Just leave the guy alone, from the bags under his eyes I can say he woke up on the wrong side of the bed." Amelia said.
I have to be careful around Amelia, she might start suspecting something but I'm just glad for that statement because the way she's glaring at the guys right now, they're going to drop the matter. How I so love you, Amelia Crust for saving me this morning.
"Let's meet at the cafeteria during lunch break and do not be late especially you Monsieur Nathan Grant." She said with a smiling yet glaring face and then walked away leaving us behind.
"How do you cope with her at home she's like the devil's daughter?" Noah asked Tyler with a serious expression. He chuckled but replied. "Hey don't call my sister that, she can be a sweetheart but you won't wanna get on her bad side or mess with her during her period."
"I'm off to class. Bye, I'll see you guys later." I quickly ran to class.
Few hours later
"If I get my hands on Mrs Lockwood, she'll regret ever messing with me." We laughed at Tyler's statement. is always having problem with Mrs Lockwood because it doesn't turn in his assignment on time which made in our favourite student.
" Who will regret ever messing with you?" Amelia asked from behind me.
"Don't mind them your brother is just being lazy." I told her.
"If I was Mrs Lockwood, I would have failed you a long time or invited your parents to my office." Her response made us all laugh but only Tyler wasn't.
"Are you sure Mum did not mistakenly bring another baby home thinking it was my younger sister?" Tyler said angrily.
"Don't worry about that. Dad actually donated blood for me last year when I was hospitalized for being in an accident or have you forgotten?" She spat. Tyler had a remorse expression on his face
"I'm so sorry Lia. That came out the wrong way. I'm so sorry." Tyler apologize profusely and hugged Amelia would she also reciprocated. Their exchange made me miss my older sister, it's been long since I've shared that kind of relationship with her.
I've been aloof with everybody in the house since Dad started his maltreating and moreover Kimberly isn't normally around. She's always busy with school stuff and I work schedules, that's why I'm trying how to excel in my grade so that I can get a scholarship which will decrease the workload on Kim's shoulder.
