The humidity in the room was pervasive and coupled with the cold, it made the air unbreathable. The stone floor, rough and damaged in places, froze the bare feet of the children, cornered in a corner. Snuggled together, only their glowing red eyes were perfectly visible in the dimly lit room by the lanterns. The soldier stepped forward and barely had time to hold out a hand when the children threw themselves on him. A knife approached his eyes and the child raised a hand, ready to punch them when another soldier's voice rose at Nyx's request.
"Stop it!" he cried fiercely. "Stop, don't do this!"
"He is not himself!"
"Put down that knife now! It's not good, you shouldn't do that. "
