Orthon knew that life would not be easy and that things could not return to the way they were before. He knew it perfectly; he was not a fool. They hadn't needed those gods to know something was wrong with his brother. His demeanour had so changed. Learning that he, his vampire cousins and his uncles were drugged didn't surprise him. Never had his brother spoken to him so coldly, so harshly, as if he was a stranger. But even though he knew it was for their good, that Minndt guaranteed they would be okay, he was fearful for them. They were with those gods who had destroyed his life, they could trample on the remains to reduce it to a pile of dust.
