Chubbles' interest was piqued by the cave guardians' mysterious words. He had never thought much about humans but seeing one wouldn't be so bad. Chubbles thought for a while and said, "Hey, I'd like to see that Golden Queen of yours!"
The cave guardians snorted in anger, "What do you mean 'that' Golden Queen of 'ours'?! The Golden Queen is the one and only living being who can command the other superior life forms! Of course, no one is better than Her Majesty, Golden Queen! Besides, no one would dare to even claim to own her! Simply ridiculous bumpkins..."
Crumples blurted out, "Hey! We're not bump----pumpkins! We're much more beautiful than those hard stone-like stuff."
The cave guardians sighed and beckoned the trio to follow them. They moved on and began exploring the interiors of the cave.
Chubbles' eyes twinkled in awe at the sight of hundreds of shiny gems as big as pigeon eggs. The cave was mostly inhabited by mushrooms which constantly moved to and fro in a vibrant and lively mushroom city. The numerous holes in the cave allowed some rays of sunlight to illuminate the place which made it look like a Dreamland for fairies.
"Oi.. Those are some new guys! That one has a golden cap! So rare!" said a small brown mushroom.
"Wow! A purple cap! Such a beautiful color for a beautiful lady!" whistled a thin white-capped mushroom.
Agua narrowed her eyes and said to the white-capped mushroom, "He's not a lady! He's a guy!"
Chubbles sighed and rolled his eyes. He pouted and said in frustration, "Damn Agua, I have made so many pranks and you smashed through all of them but I can't believe you thought that I was a guy this whole time."
Agua and Crumples were mind-blown, " WHAT?! You're a girl?!" Crumples took a closer look at Chubbles and she really thought that Chubbles looked more like a boy than a girl.
"What made you think that I was a guy?" asked the slightly amused Chubbles.
Agua thought for a while and said, "Well, you're manly... And uh... You're too fat to be a girl! Girls are usually thin you know, like Crumples and I."
Chubbles was enraged, "What fat?! I'm not fat! I'm just chubby! I was born plump and nutritious! And you're chubby too Agua!"
"Hey! I'm not!"
....
A few minutes later, the group continued to explore the cave. The hot-headed Chubbles ignored the irritated Agua throughout the whole journey. The cave guardians sensed the tension and tactfully decided not to ask anything about them. They'll let Golden Queen do all the interrogation for them. Hehehe.
"----And here is the Sun Spot! This is the reason why our cave has become so popular among mushrooms and other living beings! "
Agua gasped as she took in the sight of a beautiful work of nature. The holes in this part of the cave coincidentially (or perhaps intentionally) allowed sunlight to hit specific gems in the cave. The rubies reflected the sunlight which casted a faint red glow on the surroundings. A part of the cave suddenly looked like a bloodthirsty moon, beautiful and eerie at the same time. The direction of the rays of sunlight were so precise that only rubies were hit and the other gems were untouched.
Agua gathered her scattered thoughts and asked, "The light only hits the rubies?"
"Not really.. It's morning now so only the rubies will be hit. In the afternoon, it'll be the emeralds then at night it'll be the sapphires, " said a cave guardian as he paused, " There was one time when the sunlight hit all three gems though. That was when Golden Queen emerged."
Agua noticed that the cave guardians would have a look of worship and reverence whenever Golden Queen was mentioned. She was about to ask a question when a cave guardian said something.
"Alright, it's almost... 12 o'clock.. Well, probably. Us cave guardians eat early so you'll have to come with us too since you don't know the ins and outs of the cave yet, " said one of the cave guardians as he speedily guided them to the cafeteria.
The cafeteria didn't really look like a proper cafeteria. It was more of a storage room than a cafeteria. Dozens of decayed material were stockpiled in one space. It was simply heavenly food for mushrooms.
The trio's eyes sparkled in amazement and hunger. They immediately dived into the heavenly paradise. Chubbles chomped on dead bugs while Crumples and Agua swam in the sea of withered leaves.
"SECOND BEST DAY EVER----- I mean, the second day which is best.. Uh, another best day comparable to yesterday's best day! "
