After leaving Axel and Alejandro to be the gentlemen they are and pay our bill, Cole and I got some ice cream from Baskin Robbins and left the mall. Cole got cookies and cream with mint chocolate chip while I got cotton candy and mint chocolate chip. We hung out for a bit after that and eventually headed home.
It's Monday and I'm back at school and in a good mood. I walked in with a smile on my face but that immediately dropped when I saw Snape looking at me with a glare that would put me six feet under. I smiled sheepishly at him then headed towards where he was standing.
"Hello, Snape!"
"Don't even try! Weren't you supposed to stay at Axels yesterday?" He asked me while raising his eyebrow.
"Maybe... But I really wanted to go home cause you know how much I love home, don't you?" I tell him with the same sheepish smile on my face.
"Don't try and bullshit me, Danielle" geez he must have been really mad because he hardly ever swears around me.
"You just swore. Back to the point, I left because Axel was being such a grouch. He wouldn't even talk to me so why should I have to stay in his house?"
"Why wasn't he talking to you?"
"I don't know! I woke up and he was ignoring me" I finish off with a shrug.
"Did you think to ask him why?"
"What's with all the questions?" I whine.
"Did you or did you not?" Clearly he is not amused with my childish antics.
"No, I did not. But before you say anything I have a reason" I say while putting my hands up as if I'm surrendering.
"And what may that be?"
"I did not WANT to ask him. He's always being such a grump and he ignored me the whole day yesterday so I didn't want to give him the satisfaction of knowing it was bothering me"
"So it was bothering you?" He asked me with an amused look on his face.
"Of course it wasn't" I tell him defiantly.
"But you just said it was? Did it bother you or not?"
"No, it did not bother me"
"Then why did you say it did?"
"Do you want to know the truth?"
"Danielle, don't annoy me"
"The truth is... I'm just really dumb"
"Who's really dumb?"
I turn and come face to face with Axel. I back up a little bit till I'm standing at Snape's side and look at him trying to see if he'll acknowledge me.
"Oh, it's her" he says with disdain while looking at Snape. He is clearly talking about me so he might as well look at me.
"Axel, don't be rude" Snape reprimands him.
"She made me pay her stupid bill yesterday, you know that right? Or did she not tell you?" He tells Snape while looking at me with a scowl. Hey, at least he acknowledged me, so that's a win, I guess?
"How can she make you pay her bill? If you didn't want to pay it, you shouldn't have paid it" Snape says simply while looking at Axel with a confused look.
"She left the restaurant and made sure the check was given to Alejandro and me. I told her to come back but she just left"
"Alejandro was there? And Danielle pay Axel back would you?"
"Yes, he was. And I don't want her money!" He exclaims.
"Axel, if you don't want her money then don't complain" Snape says looking incredibly tired and annoyed with us. "And what was Alejandro doing there?"
"Alejandro was there to keep me company"
"Did I not tell you to stay with Danielle?"
I heard Axel mutter the word shoot and looked down at his shoes like they were the most interesting things in the world. He looked like a five year old! Adorable. Axel's A-DORA-BOWL!
"I can't deal with you two right now. Go to class" Snape shoos us away. I look behind me and see Vera walking through the gate. So that's why Snape wants us to leave.
Smiling, I make sure I'm a safe distance away from Snape before shouting.
"Tell your girlfriend" I fake coughed and paused then said. " I mean Vera I said hi!" Snape look at me like he wanted to kill me but I just smiled at him and looked away. I looked at Vera next to see her blushing and looking embarrassed.
I felt a sharp tug on my hand and I was immediately being dragged away from the basketball court. I looked at the person who thought it was okay for them to touch me and frowned.
"Axel" I paused before continuing. "What are you doing?"
"Shut up"
He drags me up the stairs while I struggle to break my wrist out of his grip. He practically throws me into the classroom and tells me to stay.
"Excuse me?"
"I said stay"
"Oh, that's what I thought" I walk around him and out of the classroom. Ok that's not what happened. I literally had to shove him out of the way to get out of the classroom and lucky for me I didn't have to look like an immature idiot who only did that because I didn't want to listen. I spotted Cole walking towards the class and immediately headed towards him.
"Cole! Hi!" I exclaim quite loudly. I look back and see Axel rubbing his face as if he had a headache. Trust me, bud. You give me a headache all the time.
"What's up?" Cole looks at me. then at Axel and he looked as if he wanted to say something but decided against it.
"The sky"
"You're lame" he chuckles
"I am not! I am amazing!" I act offended and when he just laughs and walks past me I take that as my cue to follow him.
"What were you and lover boy talking about?"
"Lover boy?" I ask confused.
He gestures towards Axel with his hand and I burst!
"He is NOT lover boy! Maybe to someone else but not ME! How dare you insinuate such a thing!" I spew out as if the very mention of Axel and I dating is a complete horror story. Which it really is. I look at Cole like he's crazy but he just rolls his eyes at me.
"Jeez, I didn't think you'd have a mental breakdown about this"
"I did not have a breakdown" I say with an annoyed look. "I am only telling the truth" I point out.
"So tell me then, what were you and AXEL talking about?" He asks me while emphasising Axel's name.
"I wasn't talking about anything with him. He just dragged me to the classroom and told me to stay"
"I'm not even going to ask if there's a reason"
"That's probably a good idea" I nod.
We made our way to the class, left our bags and went our separate ways. I had a free period first so I wandered around the school and stopped outside Alejandro's class. He was practically half asleep while writing the notes on the board. He had chemistry right now and I didn't know if I wanted to mess with him while he was in this class. The teacher, miss Sherrine, is ruthless when someone disrupts her class. But instead of doing the sensible thing I looked at him with an evil grin while hiding behind the window and then used one blast of ice to shove his chair out from under him.
He hit the floor with a loud thud and I had to cover my mouth with my hand to stop myself from laughing too loud. I could hear the laughter of everyone in the classroom and the teacher scolding everyone and telling them to be quiet. After the class went quiet I heard the teacher asking Alejandro what happened and him responding in a stunned voice.
"I-what-I don't know" I could just imagine the stunned the look on his face. It made it even harder to contain my laughter but I managed in order to stop myself from getting in trouble.
I crawled underneath the window thing so I wouldn't be seen and stood up after I had gotten a sufficient distance away from the class.
I started walking towards the class again and just as I was walking past the door, he stood up with a start and pointed at me.
"She did it!" He exclaimed and I acted surprised.
"Me?" I ask pointing at myself. "Did what?"
"Don't act dumb" he tells me with narrowed eyes.
"Miss Sparrow. Did you use your powers to push Alejandro off his chair?"
Well technically I didn't use them to shove him off the chair, I used them to shove the chair from under him so I'm not lying if I say no.
"No, miss. I was just passing the classroom"
"Don't lie, Danielle. If you tell the truth now you won't be in trouble" oh, please. I'll probably be in more trouble for lying the first time.
"Miss, I swear I didn't. I just came upstairs"
"Ok, then, you can leave. Alejandro sit down, we'll talk about this after class" she says annoyed.
I just smile at both of them and walk past.
I got through the rest of the day without causing too much trouble and I was about to leave school but someone shouted my name from behind me.
"Danielle, wait up"
I look behind me and see Alejandro running towards me. I'm surprised that he's willing to talk to me after this morning but maybe he's let it go. Alejandro is known to have the best temperament out of the three of us, he hardly ever gets mad and even when he does it dissipates with a snap of your fingers.
"If you're wondering why Axel's being a grump. Don't ask me cause I have no clue" I say to him after he gets to me. I shake my head and turn around then start walking towards the gate again so I can leave. I remember what happened during interval and stopped.
Axel and I had gotten to the canteen at the same time and he groaned. The kid in front of us left and I pointed at the counter with my hand and said go ahead.
"You can go first. It's fine" he said while looking at the food in the glass case.
"Axel, just buy whatever"
"Can you stop being such a pain and listen for once?"
"Can you?" I retort with an annoyed look.
The canteen lady asked for one of us to order and I looked at Axel but he stepped back with a smug look plastered on his face and tilted his head towards the canteen. Annoyed by his sudden change of attitude I step forward and order a sausage bun and a chocolate milk. I give her 500 and tell her to use that for Axels food as well. I swear this time I was only trying to annoy him a little bit, otherwise I was just being nice.
I'm passing the reception when Axel storms up to me and spins me around.
"Take it" he says while slamming money into my hand.
"I don't want it, Axel" I say with an eye roll. I put the money back in his hand but he steps in front of me before I could walk away.
"Can you stop being so stubborn?! Maybe if you weren't so stubborn nothing would happen to you!"
"Axel. What the? What the hell? What even?" I sputter and ask confused. "Axel" I say calmly. "What the HELL are you talking about?"
"Just take the freaking money" he says with a tired sigh.
"No, Axel. I want to know what you mean. What the hell are you talking about something happening to me? Nothing happened"
"You seriously don't know?" He asks confused and annoyed. "It doesn't matter" he says looking more bashful this time.
"Axel, would you just tell me?"
He walks off with the money and just before he walks up the stairs he did this. And I'm not even joking. He stops. He puts his middle finger up at me and he walks up the stairs as if nothing happened.
"Bi-polar ass" I mutter and shake my head.
"Danielle? Can you please answer me?" Alejandro looks at me annoyed and I snap back to reality.
"Yeah, sorry. What?" I ask with a shake of my head.
"I just wanted to know if you would come hang out with us today? Axels being a grump again?" He asked me confused. "He's been walking around and smiling the whole day today though?"
Now it was my turn to look confused. I'll never figure out Axels mood swings so I just sighed and started walking again.
"Axels bi-polar and no thanks" I tell him while walking towards the gate.
I hear him shout something to me but I was already out of the gate. I put my hand in the pocket of my track bottoms and realised there was money in there.
"What the fuck?" I ask myself. I pulled my hand out and saw 5000 Rupees sitting on my palm.
"Jeez. What the hell? Where'd I get this?" I figured my dad gave it to me a while ago and I didn't use it so instead of pondering over it anymore I just shrugged and pocketed the cash once again.
"Snape, Snape. Severus Snape. Dumbledore!" I mumbled the words while walking to coffee bean. Just as I was about to cross the road I remembered I left my phone in school and darted back towards the gate. After bumping into about a 1000 people I got to the reception.
I found the box where they usually keep the phone's and opened it as fast as I could.
"My phone, my phone, my phone" I mumbled while pacing the floor because it wasn't in the box.
I look towards the receptionist and a brilliant idea pops into my head.
"Miss, can I make a call please?"
She just nods at the landline, barely acknowledging me and gets back to work. I dial my number as fast as I can then put the phone down so I can begin the search for mine.
It wasn't a very long search considering I heard it ringing just behind me. I spin around and see Snape holding it up between his thumb and pointer finger just waving it to either side.
"My phone!" I exclaim while rushing towards him but he holds it higher just so it would be beyond my reach. I'd use my powers but he'd probably kill me for using them against him.
"No" he tells me with a stern look.
"Why not?" I pout. At least I think I do.
"Do you know how careless this was?" He asks me while putting his hands behind his back and taking my phone with him.
"I know, I know. I was pre-occupied" I say with a look of exasperation.
"And what exactly were you pre-occupied with?" He asks me with a brow raised.
"Ummm...." I didn't want to tell him since I would get a lecture about how Axel and I need to sort out our differences but decided against a lie when I realised he probably knew the truth anyway and I would be in a whole lot more trouble for lying.
"Alejandro asked me if I would hang out with him and the grump, I said no because Axel is constantly mad at me and then Alejandro told me he didn't seem mad today. In fact he was incredibly happy which I found weird cause he's usually so grumpy, hence the nickname, the grump"
Snape sighs and looks over his shoulder and that's when I realise Axel was standing there. He looks down with his hands in his pockets and starts shuffling his feet.
"Axel give me your phone" Snape says making Axels head snap to him.
"What? Why?" He whines.
"Give me your phone, Axel. Now" Snape says incredibly annoyed.
Axel hands his phone over reluctantly and Snape makes him stand next to me.
"Until I see you two acting civil to each other, I will keep your phones"
He tells us to switch them off since we had to enter our passwords or in our case fingerprints and he puts them in his office.
"Now leave before I strangle both of you. Danielle, I suggest you run because of that stunt you pulled today"
I took his advice and sprinted out of the office and out the gate. I looked back and saw Axel looking at me with rage and I decided to run. No, I'm kidding I didn't run. I should have but I didn't, instead I blasted the basket court with ice. Not a good idea since there were other kids there but hey since Sri Lanka is so freaking hot maybe they'd enjoy it. The kids that were on the court fell due to the ice but quickly got up and grinned. Everyone was having fun and some people looked at me with shock and surprise.
Before anyone thinks people don't know I'm the ice elemental, they do. It's not something that's kept a secret but it isn't publicised either. There's one magazine that will take a picture of us all together when we reach a certain age but until then no one writes about us. I strayed off topic again, didn't I? Welp, back to the point.
People looked at me with shock and surprise because they were wondering why I did that. Axel stopped so that did delay him but before I could do a happy dance he melted the ice with practically just a wave of his hand. People immediately frowned at him but I just waved and and jetted once again.
Stopping at Coffee Bean was a bad idea. A very bad idea. Before I could even order my coffee Axel dragged me out by my forearm and started shouting curses at me.
"You're coming with Alejandro and I"
"And why would I do that?" I ask him while still struggling to get my arm out of his iron like grasp.
"You're buying us lunch"
"Excuse me?"
Alejandro popped up beside us and repeated what Axel said.
"He said... You're buying us lunch!" He smiles at me but then frowns at Axel.
"Axel, stop dragging her. She's perfectly capable of walking"
"She'll run. Trust me"
Alejandro tried his best at arguing with Axel but Axel was so freaking stubborn. I got tired of these boys acting like I wasn't here and being dragged like a rag-doll so I shouted at them both.
"I'm still here, you know?"
"You are, are you? Guess what?" He asks while feigning enthusiasm. "We don't care!"
While we were talking I hadn't realised we walked to Mc Donald's. Axel tries dragging me in but I dig the bottom of my foot into the cobblestone that was outside and stopped myself from moving any further.
"This is not fair!" I exclaim.
"It's perfectly fair, you spoilt brat" He says while looking at me annoyed and trying to pull me to the entrance.
"Axel, let me be!"
"Don't be such a baby" he says in an annoyed tone.
"Axel, unhand me!"
"Danielle?"
