Hello.
This isn't much of a preface but... I'd like to give a few explanations of the story background.
The world was created by the creator, obviously. There are many worlds, each in their own realm apart from the two divine realms: the heavenly realm and the abyssal realm (the heavens or paradise and the abyss or hell), which are inlaid over every mortal realm, which are all the other realms in existence.
This means that regardless of what world, paradise and hell can be accessed through a simple portal or summoning rite. Moving through mortal realms is more complicated than that, but the need to explain it will depend on if this story will continue that far after the end of the competition.
So, angels live in Paradise, ruled by the Realm Lord. However, he rules Paradise as an emperor of the topmost empire in the realm, named the Heavenly Empire after the realm itself. There are other weaker empires, but the Heavenly empire is the ultimate superpower in Paradise. Angels are ranked in angelic power (consider it holy or light magic) by their wings. The lowest rank are wingless (citizen angels), followed by those with a pair of wings (winged angels), then two pairs (cherubs), then three pairs (seraphs), then in addition to the wings if they develop a halo they are Archangels, the most superior rank of angels before the divinity ranks (which is useless for now).
However, the abyss is quite different. I won't go into detail since that's the job of the story. But I wanted to discuss the demon ranks as well. Demons are simpler and simply call themselves low-ranked demons, mid-ranked demons, high-ranked demons and devils. However, unlike angels, demons copulate with almost anything, thus bloodline purity is an issue. Depending on the rank of a demon's racial ancestor, they could be born with bloodlines of low to high rank in purity. The rank of devils is not determined by bloodlines.
Another thing is that the rank of one's bloodline, while it can directly make a demon born at that rank, their power levels would not correspond. Their bloodlines only make it easier and faster, depending on the purity level to train their demonic energy (take it as darkness or shadow magic). So, a young demon with a high-ranked bloodline, would still have to start out as a low ranked demon, although no one would address them as low ranked.
Also, the copulation rampage of demons was a long time ago, so most of the demon clans are aeon-old existences. Besides, the demons in clans, the abyss also has a special birth cycle for demons at the various levels. But, those demons wouldn't know their parents, only that they would be able to join demon clans through hard work. Basically, all demons now have standard bloodlines from specific bloodline ancestors. There is Atan, the highest and the father ancestor of the pure blood demons. Then, the various races which copulated with Atan including bats, spiders and tigers (considered the highest ranked bloodlines), and other creatures, have their specific mother ancestors. Of course, pure blood demons have their mother ancestor as well. Her name is Meyrick, and she is unimportant (for now). So all demons currently have the bloodlines of Atan and one of the mother ancestors.
The final thing about demons is their basic appearances.
Because demons copulated with a vast number of creatures, the appearances can vary, however there are markers for identifying demons by their bloodline purity. First, all demons have tails, it is their pride. The descendants of a low-ranked demon would have no distinguishing feature. Even if they have the body structure of the pure blood demons, as long as they don't have the features of mid or high rank demons, they can only be considered as having top-level low-rank demon bloodlines.
Mid-rank demons are distinguished by demon horns. The redder the horn, the better the bloodline purity and if they have two they can be considered as having very pure mid-rank demon bloodlines.
High-rank demons have dark-red horns and wings. The bloodline purity is determined by the number of pairs of wings (3 at most) and the colour of the horns, how dark they are. Of course, the horns will never be black until they power up and become devils.
That's it about Angels and Demons, I guess. Hope you enjoy the story.
