Chapter 11 - Awake In An Unknown Place

This bed feels too comfortable. The soft mattress makes me feel like I'm in the clouds. Not only that, but it smells good. What fragrance is this rosemary? It smells good. I slowly opened my eyes and sat down on the bed.

I looked around my surroundings and see many unfamiliar things. This must be a dream; there is no way I'm in a rich lord's mansion. I closed my eyes back, thinking it was a dream, but once I opened my eyes back, my surroundings were still the same.

A large room filled with expensive-looking furniture and decorations. To add a shelf filled with books. I pinched my cheeks, and it hurts. This isn't a dream. If this isn't a dream, then where am I? I remembered being locked up in the closet, then I saw Yustaf then m head turned blank.

I flinched when the door opened and saw a girl entering the room. She was wearing round glasses and a maid uniform. Our eyes met, and the first thing she did was to give me a smile. I smiled back at her, then she said.

"You're finally awake. You have been asleep for two days straight," She said while I looked out of the window, thinking it was already afternoon. But to sleep for two days straight, my body must have been tired.

"Where am I?" I asked while touching the mattress as it still feels like a dream to sleep on something soft.

"You're in the mansion," She answered, making me shocked.

The mansion? Now you think about it, she doesn't look normal. There is a small horn growing out of her head. This must be the demon lord's palace. But why am I here? It can't be that Yustaf's master is the demon lord.

"Where is Yustaf?" I asked the maid.

"Sir Yustaf is with His Highness. They have some business to do."

"I see…" I muttered, then looked down at my hands—closing and opening them as I wondered what's going to happen to me.

This room doesn't look like a demon lord's palace. The rooms were bright, and there isn't a piece of decoration that looked dark. The demon lord sure has a nice taste. I heard my stomach grumbling, and I rubbed the back of my head out of embarrassment.

But the servant in front of me giggled then said, "I'll bring some food for you to eat."

As the servant left the room, I thanked her softly and got out of med. I placed my foot onto the cold marbled ground and felt my legs go weak. It has just been two days, and yet my body feels tired as if it never took rest. But this is also the effect of not eating that day. It's basically three days of not eating.

Despite feeling weak, I pushed myself to walk towards the window, and out the window, I see the city from afar. It was a breathtaking moment that I wished to picture in my head and engrave it in my head for eternity.

So this is the wasteland or the land where the demons reside. I thought it would look dark and scary, but it's just like any other town. The only differences in the wasteland were the flag. A skull, wrapped around with thorns.

I turned my head when I heard the door open. It was the servant earlier. I wonder what her name is. I don't want to keep calling her servant, or whatever.

"Can I ask something?" The servant turned to look at me and nodded her head. "What is your name?" I let out an awkward laugh after.

"Ah! I'm sorry, I didn't mean to be rude. My name is Bianca."

"No, it's alright. I didn't tell you my name either," I said and expected Bianca to feel relieved, but instead, I saw a panic expression from her. I tilted my head in confusion. Did I do something wrong? All I said that I, too, was being rude since I didn't tell her my name earlier. "What's wrong?" I asked Bianca.

"I forgot about this. Do you know about the etiquettes of the demons?" She asked while I shook my head. Even demons have etiquettes; I never knew that. Maybe it's because I don't read many books about demons.

"Since you are a special guest of the demon lord, you cannot just say your name to anyone. Us servants are supposed to know your name. That is why I panicked back there…"

"It's alright. I didn't know. Thank you for telling me," I gave her a smile, and Bianca smiled back.

I never knew about etiquette, especially if they are considered royals. I'm not a noble and only know a few of the human race's etiquettes. If they had a book about their etiquettes, then I wouldn't have made the same mistakes.

"That's right. Please eat the bread and soup before it turns cold," Bianca called, which I have almost forgotten about food.

After filling my stomach with the delicious piece of bread and the warm soup, Bianca helped me change into new clothing. Though at first, I told her not to help me, she looked down, which forced me to let her help me.

I am not scared about the demons but just scared about the way they will judge me. Bianca didn't look like the type to judge. She looked kind, gentle, and didn't look like she had bad intentions with a human like me.

I was busy reading a book, not until I heard a person announcing someone's name before the door opened. The book I held slipped out of my hands as I saw a familiar man making his way towards me. It was the man who I saved, and not only that, but his clothing looked different from the others.

Perhaps he's the demon lord?

For some reason, he didn't walk further into the room and look surprised. His eyes were wide opened, and his mouth was slightly opened. It was as if he saw me like a ghost.

"Flora?" The black-haired man asked as he slowly approached me.

He called my name, but I've never told my name to him. His black hair and black eyes looked familiar. I'm sure, but he was the man in my dreams. His name, what is his name again? Think Flora, you know this. The light bulb in me lit up. I now remember what's his name.

"Kaeden?"
