Samantha
We soon got interrupted by none other than our two besties, Brandon and Kim.
Protesting a bit, we had no choice but to get up and get ready.
Through mischievous looks and smirks from the two, we managed to change quickly and we were off to the festival in no time. Of course, Kim wasted no time as she tried to make me talk. I knew she could sense something had happened between Russell and me, but until I knew myself what was happening... my lips were sealed.
I couldn't help but smile, I blushed like crazy every time Russell looked at me. I could still feel his lips on me. His warm, big hands caressing my body. God, I wish we were back on that damn couch. He's by far the best kisser ever. Far better than Craig. Craig was a biter, and not in a good way.
The music was loud, and people walked everywhere, forming lines to get food or play a game, it was awesome. We of course joined in all the fun. Russell and Brandon bought the all-access passes. We could ride any games, get as many drinks as we wanted, unlimited popcorn, and cotton candy.
We have been stuck here for the past ten minutes seeing Brandon fail to make all shots to win the big stuffed panda bear. He's determined to win that big panda for Kim. I have a feeling she's into him too. I have never seen her so happy and comfortable around any guy.
Her old boyfriend ended things with her because the whole long-distance relationship wasn't working out for him. It wasn't a big shock to her to find out he was already interested in someone else. Her intuition was correct when she flew out to Cambridge to visit him.
She was heartbroken for a really long time. I tried being there for her, but being cheated on by her first boyfriend really had a big effect on her.
She and I have gone through thick and thin. I don't think I can ever see myself without her in my life.
Russell pulls me by my waist, embracing me around my shoulders as my backrests on his chest. I can feel his warm breath on my neck, giving me goosebumps. I sigh, closing my eyes as I rest my head against his shoulder, cupping his arms with my hands.
I can see Kim eyeing us, and I can't help but bite my bottom lip as Russell lifts my chin with his fingers making me turn sideways, placing a kiss on my lips.
Her eyes widen, and a huge smile lifts on her lips as he turns me towards him and kisses me more, resting his hands on either side of my hips. "Being honest here... I wish we were back on that couch right now," he says in a low husky tone.
I smile, wrapping my arms around his neck and standing on my tip-toes as our kiss becomes a bit more intense. I don't know what's gotten into me, but I can't help what I am starting to feel for him. It's as if we were meant for each other. The pull is so strong, it's been strong since the minute I first saw him.
"Ya-oooh, get a room you two!" Kim says from beside us making us both chuckle.
Brandon shouts out of nowhere as he finally makes enough shots and gets his prize handed to him. "Yeah, baby. That's what I'm talking about," he says as he grabs the big panda and kisses it, raising it in the air proudly as he walks towards us and hands it to Kim.
"M'lady... Your panda," he says as he kneels a little, bowing to her and making her chuckle. Kim grabs the panda hugging it, "You nutcase. I love it. Thank you." she replies kissing him on his cheek.
His cheeks turn bright red as Russell and I smile at him, unaware that there are eyes on us from unwanted guests.
"Russell Knight." a pretty girl with long blonde hair and pretty blue eyes says, making us turn.
Russell's face goes pale, and I can tell this was someone he was not expecting to see.
I glance between them, smiling as I feel a bit awkward at his reaction. She looks at him, locking eyes with him and ignoring the presence of everyone else around us.
"Oh....shit." I hear Brandon say, making me turn to him with my lips partially parted. I can feel Russell getting tense, as his hold around my waist tightens. His jaw clenches, and he stands tall, almost as if he was trying to maintain composing.
Just who was this girl? And why did she have such an effect on him?
"Rox. What do you want?" My eyes go wide in shock as it dawns on me. This was his ex, Roxanne. The girl that broke his heart.
"I see you got a new skank to play with." She says making me look at her dumbfounded. Who the hell was she talking about skank? Because if she's referring to me, she has got it all wrong.
"Watch your mouth, Roxanne. Samantha is no skank." He says making me move to the back of him. His right-hand holds me, making me hold his sweatshirt tightly, while he fists his left hand tightly. I can tell he's mad, given his veins around his neck looked engorged.
She chuckles, crossing her hands over her chest and giving me the evil eye, rolling her eyes as she smacks her teeth.
God, I hate this girl already.
"Whatever. I give you a month before you dump her, and crawl back to me. It's so obvious that she's not your type."
Ok, I have no idea who she is, but if she thinks I can't talk or fend for myself... she has got another thing coming.
"I don't need you to tell me how long you think we'll last, or"
"Who do you think you are? Just because you're back in the picture you think Russell will take you back? I don't think so, sweetheart. Russell and I are in love, and not you, or anyone will ever...break us apart. Especially someone as low and arrogant as you."
Wow, did I just say that? Fucking hell... what is going on? What is happening to me?
I have never been like this before. Where the hell did all this confidence come from.
She chuckles making me feel annoyed. She smacks her teeth one last time, eyeing me from head to toe.
"In love? With you? Please. Don't make me laugh. Russell will always love me, he may mess around with you for a while sweetheart, but he will always come back to me." She says giving me a stern look. She then looks at him, taking a step closer to him. His hold on me becomes tighter, and I feel uncertain for a second.
Can it be true? Will his feelings vanish for me, now that she's back?
They certainly have history, and he was so in love with her. Where there was fire...sometimes there are ashes.
"Believe me, I've heard it before. Yet...He always...comes back to me." She says looking at him with a smile.
But what made me feel bewildered more than anything, was his silence. What if she was right? What if... I'm just a temporary feeling?
Someone who he just wants a fling with, a temporary thing he can discard once he's fed up off and go back to her.
"Not this time, Rox. Sam is right. I love her, she makes me happy, she completes me in more ways than you can imagine. I don't need you. And if you think that you can come back to me just because Michael dumped your ass... you're wrong. I don't want you, I never wanted you. You were the one who I was using to bypass time, not the other way around." He says coldly.
In a way, I was glad he told her off, but, the way he said it to her... it was more than evident he was trying to hurt her. And if that was the case, it means he was still hurting. Still feeling, something- for her.
They exchanged words again a few times, but by then, I was not processing what either one said. I was numb, confused more than ever.
Russell and I were not even a couple yet, and already there is so much drama.
I can deal with my mom and the Craig thing. I'm over Craig, I know it.
But it's obvious that Russell is not fully over Roxanne. And how could I ever compete with his first love?
The rest of the night was only torture. We went from one place to another, yet I was not there emotionally. I masqueraded my smile, but I mostly just wanted to go back to my dorm. To get over this day.
I just knew the possibility of nothing happening between Russell and me was bigger than before. Just as the possibility of him going back to her we're greater than ever.
Seems as if fate had it out for us. The more I fall for him, the more struggles there are.
If I inky had a sign that it will all be ok in the end. That all of these struggles will be worth it in the end, would make me feel so much more at ease.
We went back home, and I had no desire to talk. I walked past him, closed the door behind me, and went to my room. I didn't take off my makeup, I changed onto my pj's and went straight to bed.
"Sam, can we talk, please?"
I sat on the edge of my bed, combing my hair as I hear the faint knocking and his husky voice. I sigh, closing my eyes.
He taps on my door again, making my heartache a bit. "Sam, please. Tell me what I did wrong? Talk to me."
God, I hate this. I don't want things to get complicated between us, and I know if I don't talk to him, things will be so awkward between us tomorrow.
I got off my bed and opened the door. His hand hung in the air as he was ready to knock once more.
"Hey," he says, smiling a bit after a pause.
I sigh, resting my head against the door, "hi."
"Can I come in?" he asks, tilting his head to the side and partially biting his bottom lip.
I nod, standing to the side.
"Sam, I want you to know I was being honest back there."
I nod, closing my eyes, "Russell, you don't owe me any explanation. I know you loved her, you have all the right to,"
He pulls me by my arm, wrapping his other hand across my waist and claiming my lips.
Our tongues instantly glide beautifully together. His fingers dig into my hips, pulling me closer to him.
I moan involuntarily, wrapping my arms around his neck. His hands grip my thighs, pulling me up, and making me wrap my legs around him.
Before I know it, he's hovering over me in the bed. My legs are wrapped around him, and I feel myself heating up...big time.
"I mean it Sam. She means nothing. I want you, Sam. You're beautiful, you're smart, you're everything that I want." he says in a husky tone as he leaves feather kisses on my neck.
"But, Rox. She's back, and I know you used to love her."
He chuckles, kissing my neck, and going a little lower, leaving goosebumps behind. "Correct. Used to. As in past tense. She's in the last, Sam. You... You're in my future, my present, my now." he says making me bite my lip. I can't help but feel better.
A smile forms on my lips as he looks at me, "I mean it, Sam. I want things to work between us, and for that to happen, we both need to be more open. Honest with each other, and communicate." he says. Obviously, he was talking about what was happening.
"That goes for the two of us," he says turning us around. I hovered over him, my legs on either side of him as he pulled us to a sitting position making me straddle him.
In between kissing and heating things up, he confessed so much to me, from how many girls he had been with, to why he slept with them. He confessed to me about his fighting, which left me wide-eyed.
I would have never guessed he was an underground fighter, or cage fighter, whatever he calls it. But it worried me, I didn't want him getting hurt.
There was just so much he was hiding behind the handsome face, the nerdy look, and the thick-framed glasses. Russell was so much more mysterious. More intriguing, and made me want him more.
We stayed talking for hours. We talked about his uncle, his childhood, how he came to love fighting, and how bullying made him want to learn more to defend himself.
When it was my turn, he was attentive, listening to every word, and by the end, making me chuckle as he learned to despise Craig even more.
The more I see how different Craig and Russell are, the more I realize I was a fool to think Craig could love me.
Craig only loved himself, and frankly... I think Craig deserved to be with someone like himself, like Roxanne, who only looks for their own pleasure and satisfaction.
Russell slept in my bed that night. We cuddled next to each other, talking until we fell asleep.
