Chapter 21 - SMO Chapter 7.2 : Saved?

In the Shelter, there were about 300 People.

The Shelter was built Underground, and just about every Large Town has one in case of a No-Name Warning.

There was plenty of space, and even had Rooms for each individual Group.

LacX's group was put into Room 84.

Entering the room, it was about 2 Times bigger that the Room from the Guild.

It had 2 Beds, a large Desk, and a Round Table with 4 Chairs. There was even a Water Pump in the Corner, along with some Bowls, Plates and Cups that were made of Wood, and some Silverware that was all fitted on a Counter.

"This place feels quite luxurious for a Shelter. Are you sure this is the right room?" Nia checks the Room Number one more time.

"I think it's for those who are more afraid of the situation. I don't know how much damage a No-Name can cause, but I think there are some people here who have witnessed it before. So to keep them Calm, the Shelters are more Luxurious than most buildings."

Nodding her head in agreement, Nia heads over to one of the beds and lays down.

Also laying in the bed, sudden exhaustion overcomes him, and LacX was nearly unable to move.

'Well, aren't I tired. I guess I did do a lot today. I should take a quick nap.'

And just like that, he falls asleep, not knowing what was happening on the surface.

. . .

Waking up, LacX gets up for a drink of water, noticing that everybody else was asleep.

Getting some water, he checks his System, which seemed to have a Message.

[Event Notice]

[Due to this "No-Name" incident, the Event will continue next week. We apologize for the inconvenience, and hope that you can continue with this event. Sincerely, The Event Master]

'So the event won't be held until a week from now? Well, that's a bummer, but I guess that would make sense.'

Another Window appeared directly afterwards.

[Daily Copies Restored]

'So it's In-Game Time? I guess that would make a bit of sense. I guess we'll see what I can copy later.'

Walking back to the bed, he noticed something off.

Laril was sleeping on the floor next to his bed.

'Why is she on the floor? Why didn't she sleep with Nia? Or at least with Mana?'

Looking closer, he noticed that she was shivering, and had a few tears running down her eyes.

'A nightmare?'

He knew nothing of her past, but he guessed that she was recalling a bad memory.

Lifting her off the ground, he puts her on the bed. She didn't seem to calm down, so he lied beside her.

She seemed to have stopped shaking, but still continued to have tears in her eyes.

Not knowing what to do, LacX held her hand.

She stopped crying altogether.

Afterwards, he went to sleep next to her, still holding her hand.

. . .

Next morning, he wakes up to a small yelp.

Opening his eyes, he realized that the yelp came from Laril.

"Umm, good morning." LacX lifts his hand, realizing that he still held Larils hand.

"G-good morning... umm, may I ask, what is this?" She pointed at her hand that was in his.

"Well, you seemed to have a little trouble sleeping, so I tried to help, and fell asleep like this. Are you alright?"

Not knowing how to respond, she just nods her head.

"Good. I think the No-Name should have passed by now. Them again, I know just about nothing about it, so I could be wrong."

Releasing her hand, he gets up and heads towards the Plates and Silverware.

'I wonder if they have a kitchen, or somewhere I can cut and prepare some food.'

"Laril,"

Laril jumps, being dragged out of her own little world.

"Please wake the others up. I'm gonna head out and see if there's somewhere I can prepare some breakfast."

"Yes, Master." Laril gets off of the bed and begins to wake everybody up.

'I realized that only Nia wears some decent clothing. Laril seems to wear some pretty tattered clothes. I'll see if I can get them some new clothes when I get the chance.'

Leaving the room, LacX looks around, and noticed some people heading in the direction of what seemed to be a kitchen.

'I guess I'll follow them.'

Heading towards the kitchen, he noticed that there were about 20 People in there.

Some were preparing food for ohers, and a few were making food for themselves.

'I'll find a spot, then prepare some food for the others.'

Before he did so, he noticed one cook that was working in a different way than the others.

She was using Magic.

Using Water Magic to clean the Ingredients, then using Wind Magic to Cut them, and finally using Fire Magic to start a fire and begin cooking.

'Magic. I only know Water Magic, so Fire and Wind shouldn't be too hard.'

Finding an empty spot, LacX sets his necessities on the counter.

'Now first up, Water Magic to Clean the Vegetables and Herbs.'

Using the image of a Ball, he was able to successfully make a Ball of Water to Clean the Vegetables and Herbs.

'And now, the tricky part. I've messed with Wind, but not by myself. So I need to have a clear vision, or else it will all go to hell.'

Thinking really hard on it, he does his first attempt.

Immediately, he is stopped. Or more like, he was forcefully interrupted.

"You almost had a disaster on your hands. Have you ever used Wind Magic before?"

Looking to his right, he noticed that the person who was using Magic earlier was walking towards him.

"Sorry. I only have experience in Water Magic, so I don't really know how to use other Elements."

"Then it's a good thing I caught you. You were about to unleash a small whirlwind, and that would trouble more than just your ingredients."

Slightly embarrassed, LacX thought of an Idea.

"If that's the case, then can you teach me? I'm pretty good at learning, so I think it will take just a moment."

Thinking on it, she then gets an idea.

"Alright, but on one condition. If you can't learn either of the Elements, then you have to treat me to a meal sometime."

"Done. I'm LacX by the way. I look forward to learning from you."

"The name's Amy. I'm a Multi-Cast Magician who uses Magic for everything."

'Multi-Cast? What does that mean?'

Using Appraisal, he then understood.

[Appraisal]

[Name : Amy]

[Race : Human]

[Job : Adventurer]

[Guild Rank : B]

[Class : Elemental Magician]

{Level : ? }

[Unique Skill]

(Cast 1 = x1 MP, Cast 2 = x2 MP, Cast 3 = x3 MP, etc)

[Daily Copied Skills : 1/3]

'Wait, isn't this a bit too OP? Being able to cast as much Magic as you want seems a little too overpowered. Then again, the MP Cost is pretty high. Wait...'

Sudden realization hit him as he realized what he has done.

'... I don't use MP when I cast Magic... does that mean that I can just use as many as I want? Oh boy, let's not think about that for now. Do what I always do ; Ignore my Troubles and go on with my day.'

"Hey, are you there? You seem out of it."

Noticing that he was staring blankly at a wall, he turns back towards Amy.

"Sorry, I was thinking of something. I'm fine now, so please teach me Magic."

"Well, if you say so. Which do you want to learn first. Wind or Fire?"

"I think Wind will be a little tough, so Fire please."

"Alrighty then. First of, an Image. Imagine a Flame as it glows and crackles after combustion. Think of the Heat and Color, as well as the Shape and Felling that it gives off. After you have am image, pour your Mana into it, and watch it bloom."

Doing as she says, LacX paints an Image of a Flame into his head. After doing so, he uses the same feeling for Water Magic, and begins to create a flame.

Incidentally, the Flame began small, and slowly began to grow, turning into a small ball the size of a fist.

"Not bad. You did say you learn quickly. Now, watch this."

Just like before, his Magic was interrupted, and the Flames went out.

"Woah. What was that? You did that earlier as well, right?"

"Yup. That was 'Mana Disruption'. It's a Skill that uses your own Mana to interrupt another persons Magic. Wanna learn it? I'll add it in as a bonus if you let me try some of your cooking after this."

"Sounds good. So, how does it work?"

"Well, in the literal term, I'm just tossing Raw Mana at the Magic. My Mana and Your Mana don't Mix, so the Magic will grow unstable and disappear. As long as it's not Mid-Grade Magic or higher, then it won't explode."

'So it's just throwing Mana? And did she just say explode?'

"Can I give it a try?"

"Sure, go ahead." Amy makes a Ball of Fire the same size as LacX's from before.

Concentrating, he tries to gather Mana into his hand. Just like trying to use Magic, he gathers the Mana from his surroundings, making something appear faintly in his hands.

'What is that? Is he compressing Mana? And a lot of it as well. He doesn't seem like he knows what he's doing.' Mana keeps her Fire Magic a good distance from her.

Taking the Mana, LacX throws it at the Fire. Instead of making it disappear, it instead did nothing.

'What was that? Shouldn't the Fire be gone by now? What exactly did he throw?'

To get rid of the flame, Amy snapped her fingers.

. . . ?

The Fire remained.

'Why isn't it going away? Shouldn't I be able to get rid of it?'

Trying again, she snapped a few more times, only to fail.

"So, did I do it?" LacX couldn't see the Fire, since Amy was covering it.

In a desperate attempt, she uses 'Mana Disruption' and successfully purged the Flame.

"Well, yes. You seem to have done it, however, it was a little delayed, so this time, don't use as much Mana, just throw a small amount, okay?"

Nodding, he prepares himself.

In the second attempt, he succeeded in making the Flame disappear.

"Did I do it correctly this time?"

Amy nods, impressed that he got it on his second attempt.

Suddenly, there was a commotion at the Shelters entrance.

"What could that be? Is this incident over?"

Walking over, they take a look outside.

. . . . . Silence.

Stunned at what he was looking at, he almost wished it was just a dream.

The Entire Town was Wiped Out.

Not a single building was left in sight.

There was not a single soul to roam the no longer existing streets.

The No-Name has completely erased the Seaside Town of Mardeal.
