Chapter 42 - Jun finds his rap style

"Ganggyeong" "Jochiwon" "Gangjin" "Gampo" "Seoul" "Daejeong" "Buyeo" "Busan" "Geumho" "Hayang" "Pyeongchang" "Seongju" "Dolsan" "Incheon" "Onyang"

On the 14th floor of the training facility, Jun was continuing to recite the names of the towns and cities of South Korea.

He was reciting so fast that at least five to six words are coming out of his mouth before the brain processed the information of the first word.

After crazily reciting them from first to last, he then, went on reciting them in reverse order.

A few hours earlier;

13th floor, Room no. 1303, Genesis Training facility;

"So, you have never done the rap?" YG was stumped as he stared at Jun. After watching hours of Jun's practice, YG regretted choosing Jun and Yuju as partners.

He realized that he had forgotten Jun was in a vegetative state for four years. So, he only had three years of training where he was trained to be a Vocalist. And ZC Entertainment is an agency where the idols are only allowed to do what role they were assigned to do.

"We can't do anything about it. Anyway, everyone in this program has to face all challenges. I won't make an exception for you. Since you don't have a problem with lyrics, then, all you need to work hard to show decent rap skills.

Listen to all kinds of hip-hop songs and try to imitate their style. Find one that's comfortable for you and imitate that rapper's style until you find your own.

As for rap practice, start with writing the names. It can be the names of people, brands, dishes, plants, or even cities and towns. Just make a long list and recite them from front to back and then, from back to front in the style you have chosen.

After you become familiar with the rhythm, try the random paragraphs you can find on the internet. After that, go for songs…"

Following YG's suggestion, as soon as he went to one of the private training rooms on the 14th floor, Jun took a seat and opened the YouTube to search for hip hop songs.

As a few popular western names appeared in his mind, Jun shook his head, "no, I'm not a rapper and I won't be rapping in English in the future either. So, let's just stick to our artists… Hmm, let's see… there's Zico, Jay park, Mino, Loco, San E, Simon Dominic, and who else is there…

Oh! There's also RM, T.O.P, Chanyeol, bobby, B.I., Suga too… Ugh… there are too many names even on my tongue. Who knows how many good ones there are that I don't know.

In any case, let's see how many of these are still around in this world…"

Jun started with Zico. After watching a couple of videos, Jun groaned and complained, "What good about rapping, anyway. I don't understand why people go so crazy while listening to them."

One after the other, Jun forced himself to continue listening to them.

"No." "No." "No" "No"

None of them manage to pique Jun's interest. Even though Jun felt a few of them feel good, he still felt their styles aren't a match for him.

After two hours of continuous watching, Jun seemed like he lost all the interest. He randomly clicked on a music video that was on the search list.

The quality of the video seemed like it was shot in late 2000s and it started with a piece of violin music in the background. Jun felt like the song he was watching might be an R&B genre.

"Hmm? Did I click on the wrong video?" Just as he was about to close the video, suddenly, the song started.

"sangcheoleul chilyohaejul salam eodigassna

gamanhi nadudaga kkeunh-im-eobs-i deosna

salangdo salamdo neomunado geobna

honjainge museowo na ijhyeojilkka dulyeowo"

Jun suddenly sprung up from the seat upon hearing this fast rap. He took the seat and continued to watch the video.

Three minutes later, as the song ended, a glow can be seen on Jun's face. "This is it. This is how rapping should be done. Who this guy this, anyway."

"Hmm? Outsider? I think I might have heard this name in my past life… What is his real name?"

After searching it on the web, Jun mumbled while looking at the Wikipedia page, "Shin Ok-Cheol."

Jun went on to hear his other songs. For a vocalist who doesn't like rap or rappers except for Chaeyoung and Dahyun, Jun was really intrigued by Outsider's style.

After listening to like five to six songs, Jun nodded to himself. "Okay, I have decided."

After choosing the style, Jun started to follow YG's suggestion. He wrote all the towns and cities he knew and started to recite from top to bottom and then, bottom to top.

After one round is over, Jun then, increased his speed. After three rounds, once it started to sound like rap, the emergency quest progress was no longer at 0%.

At the same time, due to his low skills points in rap and maximum talent, they also increased steadily.

Taking a small break once for every couple of rounds, Jun continued his practice.

In the meantime, the rest of the staff and the contestants that were practicing in their private training cabins like him also left to sleep. Only Jun continued to practice, forgetting about time and sleep.

Four hours later, finally, he received the notification.

*Ding! You completed the Emergency Quest. You received "Rap God" skill. Check out the skill tab for details.

*Ding! Skill tab has been added to the character.

"Aria, Open Skill tab"

The holographic screen displayed the acquired skills. For now, there's only one on the list.

Rap God (Level-1): Temporarily enhances rapping skills to the maximum level for five minutes. CD: 24 hours.

Next level- 100 credits

"I see… so, the so-called skills are like the ones in those games, huh. But, the only problem is that I only have 300 or so credits. Is it worth enhancing the skill? Currently, my rap skill point is at 3.8.

By the end of tomorrow, I can reach 4, and by the next evaluation, if I really work hard on it, I can even reach 6. It is a decent score for even a professional rapper. Not to mention, I think five minutes is enough. I can just activate it during evaluation if needed."

Upon deciding to not level up the skill, Jun stood up and stretched his body before looking at the time. "Oh! It's already 2. Hmm, let's practice until I reach 4 and then, go to sleep."
