Chapter 17 - Treasure Campus Day 1 part-2

Genesis Training facility, Seoul;

On the second floor of the building, more than 37 boys gathered. Every one of them has atleast 1-year of training experience.

Although the youngest of them was only 14 years old, the average age is still above 19 years old. There are five trainees who are even two to three years older than Jun and one of them even debuted before.

When Jun saw this group, he was relieved that he was in the middle of this group.

The eldest person here seems to have experience in taking the lead. He spoke as he clapped to get attention, "there are eight rooms on this floor, which is sufficient for all of us to train. So, there's no need to feel anxious about the training space. The most important worry is about forming the right groups before thinking about performance…"

Everyone nodded as they too think like him. Jun wasn't worried since he planned to register as a solo if doesn't work out with the groups.

"How about we sort ourselves according to our positions before forming groups?"

Jun also agreed with his suggestion.

They sorted themselves out into three groups. Vocalists, Rappers, and dancers.

Unfortunately, for Jun, of 37 former trainees, only 10 chose Dance, 12 chose Rap, and the rest of them chose Vocals.

Just because they chose them doesn't mean they are good but they are confident that they can do a great job.

The easy part's over. Now, comes the hard part.

The eldest Hyung, who suggested this method earlier, once again took the lead, "JYP-nim said we have to choose a category, right. As a former idol, I have experience regarding this. Can I suggest something, if you don't mind?"

At that moment, Jun immediately decided not to choose to be his group no matter what. He felt this Hyung is a control freak.

Meanwhile, everyone else nodded and Jihun spoke, "solo or duo doesn't matter. It can work out in any combination. As for groups, if we are doing a dance cover, there are many ideal combinations like 2:2:3, 1:1:3, etc…"

Then, Daniel interrupted, "but, the vocalists are more in number."

Jihun nodded, "Yes. That's why… it would better if there's a group with one music cover. A mix of rapper and vocalists would be better in this situation since there would be fewer parts to fight for."

"Then…how about introducing ourselves and show off our skills, and then, think about the groups?" Jun voiced out his opinion. "Then, we will know who to form a group with and would be easier, later, once we pass this round."

Everyone turned towards Jun. His appearance alone stole the attention that was on the former idol. Even though Jun wasn't the most handsome in this group, he can be considered the top 3.

Except for 5 people, everyone's appearances are below 7 if one were to consider Aria's parameters.

A few people thought Jun's visual can help them if they form a group with him.

Upon hearing out Jun, he said, "Since we are too many people to fit in one room, how about splitting half, first. 19 of us will go to room 201 and the other 18 will go to 202.

So, that means 8 vocalists, 5 rappers, and 6 dancers in this room and the rest in the second room."

As soon as he saw Jihun entering room no.1, he called out to Daniel and both of them entered the different training room.

In absence of Jihun, Jun took the lead to give a suggestion, "so, let's start with dancers?"

No one had any problem with it.

Everyone stands leaning against the walls to give maximum space for the participant.

Instead of a dance break, Daniel performed a 90-seconds cover of "Love Shot" by Resonance. His performance surely brought out cheers from the fellow participants, especially the highlight where it has sexy moves.

Everyone immediately chose Daniel as their first pick in their hearts.

Finishing his performance, he spoke, "I'm interested in either duo or five-member group, thank you." He bowed and backed off to his place.

After the dancers, the rappers had their turn. The atmosphere turned into fun because of their freestyle rap with dissing.

At last, Jun got his turn with two more vocalists left to show off their skill. "Hello. My name is Han Sung-Jun. I'm 20 years old. I trained at ZC for 3 years and then, had a 4-year break."

The room fell silent as soon as they heard Jun's introduction. They gasped in surprise. ZC is one of the top entertainment agencies in Korea. Just surviving 3 years alone showed his level and experience.

"I found a love for me

Oh darlin', just dive right in and follow my lead

Well, I found a girl, beautiful and sweet

Oh, I never knew you were the someone waitin' for me

'Cause we were just kids when we fell in love

Not knowin' what it was

I will not give you up this time

But darlin', just kiss me slow, your heart is all I own

And in your eyes, you're holdin' mine

Baby, I'm dancin' in the dark with you between my arms

Barefoot on the grass, listenin' to our favorite song

When you said you looked a mess, I whispered underneath my breath

But you heard it, darlin', you look perfect tonight…"

Meanwhile, in the control room, located on the ground floor, Brave brothers and YG are sitting with a couple of staff.

Before them, there are fifteen monitors lined up on the wall, displaying the situation on each floor. Each monitor is linked to all the CCTV on the respective floors.

Right now, they were focusing on only four of them.

YG laughed as he watched the fifth screen and the third screen, "the boys handled themselves while the girls are in a mess."

Brave brothers nodded in agreement, "Yeah. That trainee leads them quite well. If I remember correctly, he's a former member of Boyfriend.

On the other hand, newbies aren't bad. Look at those two kids… They probably knew the choreography before but still… their moves are sharp and good…"

"Oh! It's SungJun..." YG suddenly commented as he was staring at the third screen that's currently displaying room no.202.

Brave brothers stared at this guy who plays favorites openly. He didn't comment anything and kept an eye on other screens but then, YG did another thing that annoyed him a little bit.

"Minyung-ssi, play the third screen's audio."

As Jun started to sing, the staff even stopped murmuring and stared at the screen, silently.

There's no music in the background or a mic in his hand. Yet, they can hear how each word is smooth and pleasant to their ears.

It no secret that Koreans find it very difficult to sing an English song when compared to a Korean song even if it's a popular song, especially if they have to sing without any music.

Right now, they felt even well trained Korean singer can sing this well. At least, that was what the staff in the control room thought of it.

Meanwhile, YG laughed again, "I can see his voice is more polished than last time."
