Chereads / Olympus Reborn: Era of Hades / Chapter 10 - Back to Reality

Chapter 10 - Back to Reality

In the virtual world of Olympus Reborn, time went by faster, so several days in the game could pass in one in reality. In the corner of the status window, Hades could see a small clock that displayed the time in the real world. Every day, he had to take medicine by a certain time, and he could see that it was nearly time. "Hey, Ares. I need to go offline soon."

The warrior nodded once as he closed his status window. "What about Thanatos though? Will he disappear or something when you go?"

The demonic servant interrupted, not wanting to worry his master. "Do not worry. I will remain in this world as long as my master is alive. Once he reappears again, I will be brought back to his side."

In Olympus Reborn, minions and summons retained a sense of individuality, so if their summoner was killed, they would be able to live on their own. The system automatically granted minions this knowledge, though they didn't quite know about the players logging on and off. They would just feel that it was normal. When a player logged off, their summons would remain in the world, unless the player had an item that caused other effects. So when a player went offline, they could have their summons grind monsters, but they could risk the summon being killed.

"Hmmm, okay then." Hades nodded, trusting that Thanatos would be fine on his own. He was strong, and because he was a demon, the other NPCs probably would leave him alone as long as he didn't cause trouble.

Hades logged out of the game, pulling the VR helmet off. He stood up and stretched, feeling surprisingly well-rested. Just then, Briares entered the room, carrying a plate of food and a cup of juice. "Young Master, it is nearly noon. I have brought you lunch." Briares set the plate on Hades' desk with a bow. "Young Master Poseidon also wanted me to let you know that he will be visiting sometime this week."

Hades walked over to his desk, nodding once to signify his acknowledgement of Briares' words. Poseidon tended to visit more often than Zeus, because as the eldest son who inherited the Othrys Corps, Zeus had to deal with everything involving the company.

Whenever Poseidon visited, he always brought a new book, or several, for Hades to add to his library. Poseidon was also a lot nicer than Zeus, so Hades looked forward to the visit.

"Thanks for bringing the lunch." Hades started to eat the food as Briares bowed and left the room. Once he finished the lunch, he stared at the two small pills resting on the side of the plate. The blue capsules were vital to keeping his illness in check, but they tasted absolutely disgusting, even if he just swallowed them.

If he had to compare the pills to anything else, he would compare the aftertaste to a disgustingly stinky fruit called a durian. He had only experienced the fruit once, but that was one time too many.

With a sigh, Hades popped the pills into his mouth, taking a big swig of juice to wash them down. He made a disgusted face and continued chugging the drink, trying to get rid of the bad taste in his mouth. "Blegh. I guess what they say about how the worse the medicines taste, the better they are for you is true."

Having finished his lunch, he glanced around his room, looking for something to do. He didn't really feel like playing any video games at the moment, but he didn't really have a lot of things in his room. Finally, he decided to go read webcomics and webnovels on his computer.

His eyes lit up when he realized that one of his favorite authors had just updated their book after being on hiatus for a month. They had been taking a break because they had injured both of their hands, so he was glad to see that they were still okay to be writing.

Once he had finished reading the latest chapter in the book, he decided to browse through the fantasy section. After glancing through almost a hundred reincarnation/isekai books, he grew bored and switched to the gaming section. A stray thought wandered into his mind as he thought about all of the MCs of the novels that got stuck in a game they knew well. "Hah, if my life were a webnovel, maybe my author would be lazy and just follow the trends. Maybe one day when I became an expert in the game, I'd be transported into Olympus Reborn." Hades snickered inwardly as he mumbled his thoughts out loud. His thoughts turned to Ares and Thanatos, and he wondered how they were doing. As if reading his mind, his phone's notification tone sounded as it announced an incoming message.

{Ultimate Warrior}: i just logged out of olympus reborn

{Ultimate Warrior}: just letting u know Thanatos was doing fine when i left

{Ultimate Warrior}: mostly we just hunted some monsters

{SoulReaper}: Ah, thank you for letting me know!

{Ultimate Warrior}: np

{SoulReaper}: Hey, random question, what kind of webnovel do you think your life would be if your life was one?

{Ultimate Warrior}: with the amount of gaming i do itd probably be one of those apocalypse ones where everyone gains a game interface id either be the badass mc or the badass villain who ends up creating a group of thugs the mc ends up beating up in like the 10 chapter then comes back for revenge against the mc like 50 chapters later but still loses and ends up joining the mcs team

{SoulReaper}: That is... fairly specific... Can you even fight in real life?

{Ultimate Warrior}: yup u surprised bro?

{SoulReaper}: Well, with the amount of time you spend on video games each week, when do you have time to practice fighting?

{Ultimate Warrior}: u dont believe me?

{SoulReaper}: You're a gamer, just like me. So no.

{Ultimate Warrior}: ha next time in olympus I will show you my skills instead of just bashing away with a sword

{SoulReaper}: Alright, if you say so. See you tomorrow.

{Ultimate Warrior}: cya tmrw reaper
