Chereads / Atlantis: In Search of The Lost World / Chapter 2 - Drifted Ashore

Chapter 2 - Drifted Ashore

"Hmmm Hmmm hmmm~~" Wade hummed as he picked up some leaves and trashes that are drifted ashore from the storm last night. He still can't get what he saw last night out of his mind making him a little airheaded for a whole day. He can't get his work right, and even attended class when it is weekend. He totally forgot today's Saturday.

One time his grandmother asked him to fold the clothes on the couch. He took it all but didn't fold it, but instead he washed it again and only realized what he did after hanging it all. He was also tasked with the cooking for their breakfast but he just walked out of the house and left the kitchen on a mess, and came back with groceries. He can't even remember where he got the money in the first place.

His grandmother noticed his weird actions and just decided to let him be for the meantime and didn't push him to work for the beach, which he felt thankful.

It was also last night when his parents called his grandmother that they will be coming over in a week. That was the reason why he had to go home early, though it wasn't really a big deal. They just wanted to see their son and if the beach is on a good condition because maybe, he thought, his parents' friends are having a wedding held here? He's not sure. He just knew that they should maintain cleaning until they arrive.

This beach was actually supposed to be given to her mother who is a child of his grandmother who is currently the one managing, but she chose on working with the company instead, leaving the beach with no successor. This is also why he chose to stay with her grandmother, to have someone who will help her with the work. He's also lucky because this place is the closest one to his school, and the view is really relaxing when you need to clear your mind, especially during sunset.

He looked at the sky and saw that there are no clouds and it is clear blue. The weather is also very clear that it feels like the storm didn't happen last night. It was as if it's just like a dream, but it isn't. One way to prove are the trashes that was drifted to the beach. It wasn't usually this much trash when storms come so he is very much convinced that last night wasn't a normal one-- considering what he also saw.

He also tried telling her grandmother about it but she just laughed at him. Of course, who would even believe such happenings? Ocean, missing? Totally impossible. But he still can't understand why it happened and why he's the only one who saw it. He believed that it wasn't just his eyes tricking him because he 'clearly' saw it two times.

Wade disregarded it out of his thoughts and just continued picking up the trashes. Why are there so many seaweeds anyway? He always hated picking those up especially the sticky ones and those that are already decaying. Why does it have to be him who has to pick those up anyway? They have someone who hired as a cleaner during the weekdays so why can't they just also hire them during weekends? It would totally make his work a little more easier.

He was picking up another seaweed when he suddenly felt something clung onto his fingers. He moved his hand a little a saw a crab now hanging on both his fingertips.

"Ow! Ow! Ow! Ah!" he jumped around and tried pulling it off but it only bites harder. He tried slamming it on the sand until its claw came loose and ran away from him.

Phew. He looked at his fingers and found that it is already swollen and there's a small wound under his nail.

While sucking the blood that is coming out from his fingertip, he saw a large thing not far from where he stood. He looked at it and observed what it is. Is it a log? Maybe. It is big enough to think that it is just an ordinary tree branch. This is actually the first time he saw something this big drifted all the way here. There aren't any neighboring island around here so it is near impossible for a log this big to be drifted here. And considering its hugeness and how far it had traveled, maybe this wasn't actually that heavy, and maybe he could carry it alone. Though he really had no other choice than to do it either way.

He walked to it and started having another thoughts as he slowly look at it clearly. He then stopped for a second and got surprised when he finally saw what it really was. Wade started running towards it and immediately checked.

It was not a log, but a man. A naked man.

He is lying naked with only a large, brown seaweed to cover his lower parts and his face is all covered with sand. The skin is also pale that it makes him even more anxious. Is he dead? he checked his pulse and was relieved when it is beating normally. After recovering from the shock, he then thought, 'Why is there a man here anyway?!' He looked around and noticed that there are not much people going on this area of this beach. He had no choice but to carry this unconscious guy out of the shore. He wrapped the seaweed on the guy's hip first before moving him.

He is already near at one of the cottages whe he noticed something is off, so he looked at the guy.

"Ah--!" He tried grabbing it but he was too late to react. The seaweed around the guy fell off. He could now see the guy's peepee hanging loose.

'Well, this is awkward' he thought.

He looked around and saw that nobody noticed them so he just kept on dragging the guy until they reached the cottage. He also came back from where the seaweed fell off and took it, then wrapped it around the guy's hips again, now a little too tight. He made sure that it does not take off while he drags him to their house.

After arriving at the entrance he suddenly dropped the guy on the floor and catched his breath. Phew, they walked quite a distance. After finally catching breaths, he just realized what he just did to the guy. He looked at him who is now lying on the floor.

'Guess that doesn' t wake him up, huh'. He then carried the guy again until they're on his room. He can't just leave him in the living room and his grandmother doesn't even know about this yet so he had no choice but to bring him to his room.

He then rested the guy to his bed. He was planning to put him gently but then a loud thump was created-- proof that didn't really put him gently. Did he hit his head? He checked if the guy did but he didn't. He gave Wade a relief. He was actually thinking already about what if he hit his head and looses his memories? It would definitely be his fault.

"Well he's a guy anyway so that probably wouldn't hurt a bit" he said to himself.

He stared observed the man's figure and thought that this really wasn't a body suited for a man. Although he thought that he has the same height as him, his body looked really small and delicate. His skin are so soft and pale, his legs are so thin and so are his arms. And his face, he doesn't understand but it looked so feminine. He had a blonde hair color, a perfect shape of the face, he had long eyelashes, his nose is so pointy, and his lips are so red.

After few seconds of him staring at the unconscious guy, Wade covered his mouth and turned red. His eyes widened. What the heck was he just thinking about? he sounded so gay.

'Get youself together Wade. There's an unconscious stranger lying on your bed right now. How are you going to explain this to your grandmother if she'll know?' he slapped both his face few times until they turned red.

He sighed. He gave up on thinking possible ways for her grandmother not to notice this guy around their house. Her mother once told him that his grandmother hated when someone who she doesn't know enter the house so he really haven't invited most of his friends to his house yet, only Leo. But actually he haven't seen his grandmother became angry before just because some stranger entered their house so he can't really tell if it's true or not. Considering that he, for the first time brought another person to their house, an unconscoius stranger even more, he wondered what his grandmother's reaction would be?

He then looked back at the guy who is still sleeping. He sighed again. He can't think of anything from where this guy came from. Looking at his physical appearance, he doesn't seem like an ordinary commoner. Is he of wealth or something? Was he traveling or something when that storm from last night hit their boat and made him drift here? who is this guy? And where did he come from?
