After another long day of school, Margie couldn't wait to finish the book. She rushed to Tommy and asked if he could read it. Seeing the bright look on her face, Tommy couldn't even think about refusing. They read about all sorts of things; children eating lunch together, going outside for a break, and even having fun extracurricular activities! Margie had never done that! Thinking about how she was now made her feel empty. She wanted the older schools back. She couldn't live on knowing such amazing schools existed! She had to do something!
Right when they finished the last page, Margie was told to eat dinner and sleep. Margie was very satisfied and left Tommy after saying bye. The AI served dinner like always; perfectly balanced and nutritious. Margie remembered her grandma saying that people got sick due to unbalanced diets! She could never think of such a horrible thing! Margie was glad AI planned the diets and not humans. When she started eating, Margie's parents reminded her about her birthday. She had totally forgotten! For this year's birthday present, all Margie asked for was a birthday cake with candles. Her grandma had told her people used to blow on their birthday candles to fulfil a wish. Margie wanted to try it out and asked for one. She even had a wish in mind now! After finishing her perfect dinner, the AI took her dishes and left. Margie said goodnight to her parents and went to sleep.
Once again seeing an AI right in the morning waking her up, she got up and said "I am awake". It's necessary to say for the AI to shut off. The date was May 18th 2155, 8:00am. Other than the birthday wishes, Margie had her usual morning; going to school and inserting more homework in the slot. She completed another long day of school and got ready for her birthday! For the first time, her mother had picked her dress. It was beautiful; just like the night sky full of stars! Margie had always liked stars. She hated the clothing AI chose for her. They were never her style! Margie was glad her mother chose it this time. The AI brought in the cake and lit up the candles like any normal human would. When the candles were lit My grandma told me to think of my wish and blow. I wasn't used to having no guests on my birthday but, I liked it better this way. I thought of my wish; "to live without AI like the older generations" and closed my eyes. I took a deep breath and blew as hard as I could. Suddenly, everything went dark. I couldn't see a thing. Margie's consciousness faded and she was back. Back to May 18th 2155, 8:00am. She thought she dreamed of her birthday and got up. There was no AI to wake her up which was quite strange. It was always there. Literally every morning!
