Nie AnAn was a severe germaphoe when it came to what she put in her mouth. She never ordered takeout and never had others prepared her food for her.
As amazing as she was, she couldn't shine when there was nothing on hand. She went back to her room, grabbed the car key, and went out to buy some groceries.
The original owner has her own car, but after an accident, she seemed to have been traumatized and would only use Cucumber to chauffeur her around. But it was so late at night that Nie AnAn didn't want to wait around for anyone, so she went to the garage herself.
Nie AnAn mapped to a grocery store close by using GPS and passed a black Maybach on her way out of the mansion.
Huo YanXiao turned and gave the familiar license plate a curious look.
Nie AnAn, on the other hand, had no idea about the encounter. She had already arrived at the grocery shop and purchased a lot of ingredients.
Rice, noodles, condiments, vegetables, meats, and some cooking devices. Three big bags altogether.
As she was pushing the cart to the parking lot, she was a little upset at herself for buying too much. What if she couldn't lift all of them after she parked her car? To her surprise, she lifted up all three bags easily!
That was shocking for someone who had always been taught to be quiet, lady-like, and fragile.
She quickly placed everything into the trunk and drove away.
Once she got back to the mansion, she went straight to the kitchen.
She categorized everything. Her obsessive-compulsive disorder forced her to place everything in a very orderly fashion before she started preparing her dishes.
As it was already pretty late in time, she didn't want to make anything that might cause indigestion. So she only made three simple and common dishes –
Garlic and broccoli stir fry, fresh mushrooms and peas stir fry, and shrimp and winter melon soup.
The rice was done the same time her dishes were ready. When Nie AnAn carried her dishes from the kitchen into the dining room, she suddenly noticed that one of the rooms upstairs had the lights on inside.
She distinctly remembered that the lights were all off when she left the mansion.
Did that mean that Huo YanXiao was back?
She had planned on enjoying her dinner alone, but guess it wouldn't be right to do that now.
She carried all the plates into the dining room before she went upstairs and knocked on Huo YanXiao's bedroom door.
"Enter," said the man inside concisely.
Nie AnAn turned the doorknob and walked inside. Then, looking at the man sitting at the desk going through documents, she said, "Ge-ge, I have cooked up some food. Are you hungry? Would you like to join me?"
Huo YanXiao merely lifted his head slightly from his documents and said in a cold tone, "No need."
"But aren't you hungry?" asked Nie AnAn.
After all, he was over at the club from a lot earlier. Apparently, men don't eat when they were talking about business.
This time, Huo YanXiao didn't even bother looking up when he said to her, "Not hungry."
"Alright," nodded Nie AnAn before she turned and walked away.
She even nicely closed the door gently after her after she had walked out of his study.
The moment she walked out of the room, the man whose head was buried in the documents looked up suddenly and looked at the closed door. His eyes flickered obscurely.
Now that she had done her due diligence and asked him to join her, Nie AnAn could eat alone with a clean conscience.
She filled herself a small bowl of rice and began eating happily.
The taste was good. Perhaps because she had just transmigrated over and not yet used to this body, her shrimp wasn't as delicate as they were before, the peas were just cooked a tad too long, and a couple pieces of minced garlic on the broccoli were slightly bigger than the rest and not as evenly chopped.
As Nie AnAn was self-criticizing, she failed to notice a large shadow descending from the stairs.
