Shanti looked down and cried. She even couldn't deny what her savior said. The only thing that she really hoped now was this savior would really save her tribe and village.
The man looked his surrounding and tried to grasp the situation right now. He walked towards the elder and spoke to him.
"can you explain your situation here? I need information as much as I can have"
"yes, savior. Anything you need to save my people and our tribe"
The elder was speaking while kept bowed his head
"but... before that. Do something about those bodies. I believe they need a proper burial"
"understood. We will do that. Thank you for your kindness" the elder showed his gratitude
"do it then. As soon as you can. We need to discuss many things... hmm"
The man turned back and walked to Shanti's direction. He talked to her.
"do you want to keep crying? or want to help me instead?"
Shanti wiped her tears. She stood and tapped her clothes to clean all the dirt on her clothes. As a shaman, she wanted to look proper in front of their savior.
"forgive my tardiness. I am Shanti, shaman from half-beast tribe at Ohre village. I will do anything to assist you, savior"
"-sigh- it's Yana.."
"pardon me?"
"my name is Yana. You can call me that"
"Ya...na? so it's lord Yana?"
"no need for honorific or formal thing. I'm not someone like that"
"but you're our savior.... at least let us call you sir Yana"
"....do whatever fit you"
"understood, sir Yana"
"I'll need you to help with the burial for these bodies of your comrades. Then, gather all the people in this village and make sure they all get food and drink. Discussion won't go anywhere with empty stomach and despair surrounding your place"
"I... I understand"
"good"
Yana left the ritual place and headed to the village. He passed a small road with bamboos and other trees on its side. After walked for five minutes, he arrived at the village.
He saw similar buildings in the village. Their house built by combined concrete soil and wood. The design was also rather simple. All the pillars, windows, and doors are made from wood, and the rest was covered by concrete soil.
He walked till the center of the village. The layout of the village was really simple. The entrance, the blacksmith at the front, then villagers's house. In the east, a slightly larger building could be seen.
"that must be the elder house"
He decided to wait there until the burial process was done.
Ohre village located near Egi mountain. It was surrounded by the nature. River, a vast grass field, a lush forest, all things that you needed for life was provided.
-syuuuuu- Yana took a deep breath. The air felt so nice and cold. It was almost dark, maybe around 6 or 7 PM in his previous world time. He also could hear some crows voice at the far distance.
"-fuuh- been a while since I can feel this kind of fresh air and surrounding"
He was silent for a while. He bowed his head and closed his eyes. That was something that he would do when he tried to think or understand something.
"sacrificing their own fighters..... desperate....war against human... they do nothing wrong?... hunt?.. discrimination against races? That's mean human have numbers... they decide to do the ritual now..as their final resort..."
Yana opened his eyes. More or less, he could see what was happening here.
"there are two things that I need to ask to them"
After 30 minutes, Shanti could be seen walking down from the ritual place.
She saw her savior waiting at the elder house so she ran to his place.
Only need less than one minute for Shanti to reach Yana's position.
Shanti ran with incredible speed. It was looked like she only tapped the ground lightly, and then she bursted her way to Yana's place.
"so that's what half-beast is capable of"
Shanti kneeled the moment she arrived in front of Yana.
"sir Yana, the burial process is done. We will prepare the feast now. Where do you want it to be held?"
"this place would be enough. Make sure everyone know"
"understood. Then, I'll take my leave" Shanti bowed and ran again
"they can finish buried twenty bodies less than an hour.. that's two or three.... no four times faster than human would do.. I see"
Not for long, Shanti with a few woman came and prepared the feast. They arranged the place for put the meals and the drinks, also they spread a big mat that was made from some kind of animal skin. That mat was a place for their savior to sit.
All the villager was gathered there. The elder approached Yana and spoke to him.
"savior, the feast is ready. Anything else that you need?"
"no, let's begin. we don't want to waste time"
Yana sat on the mat with the elder beside him. Then, all the villager sat on the ground while made some circle position faced Yana's direction. Some of them showed afraid expression, while the others showed no expression at all. It was really clear how the situation was in the village.
"tell them that they can start to eat" Yana talked to the elder
"let's we start the feast! for our savior!!! for our tribe!!"
"for our savior!!! for our tribe!!"
The villager started to eat. Some old people, children, women, and men were eating with no enthusiast feeling. Yana ate a soup with some meat and vegetables that was in front of him.
"so before we start the discussion...." he looked to the elder
"I want to confirm something"
"sure, savior. What is it?"
"...your village.. doesn't have any fighter left. Is that right?"
The elder stopped his spoon. He didn't expect that's kind of question.
"....sadly it's true. Those twenty people are our last fighter" said the elder with bitter voice
Yana slurped his soup and drank his water. Then, he looked to the elder's direction.
"good, as I expected"
The elder just looked at Yana with confused expression while Yana continued eating his meals
