Chapter 2 - CHAPTER 1: The Missing Purse

Hakeem briefed the Devil himself under the pseudonym "Lucifer" on the project and contract made with the president of the Republic of Ghana and where they will be escorted to. Hakeem has been beside Lucifer since they were young. He was the closest and lasting person in his life. The only one he could trust and call "friend". But he was also his partner in crime, kept him in check. Don't get him wrong he didn't need any babysitter. Lucifer knew what to say and do in every situation. But there was one thing he couldn't control. " Torture ". When he sets a net, he makes sure it catches enough to torture. When caught in the devil's web, be prepared to experience hell. He didn't know what was right or wrong he did as he felt and he had no explanations. How can he know pain when pain has been his only companion all his life. Hakeem has always made sure that Lucifer's way of working doesn't ruin the empire he struggled to build. He had seen him in his worst form, seen his pain but don't know the feeling. They all lived in the same environment but Lucifer, he was an " exception " as his father's boss Akim would always say. He helped save his life as their plan to leave from the Underdog Mafia Lord as he calls himself in South Africa after Akim's death. With all the wealth from drug dealings, trafficking, guns and nuclear exportations, Lucifer became the most successful Mafia boss in South Africa. However he was not discovered by anyone except the the Underdog....

"Are you listening or sleeping"  Hakeem asked rubbing his forehead. "Adriel...."

His eyes flipped open to glare at his only friend warring an annoying "oh I know you hate that name" smile on his face." Lucifer shook his head and sighed. " We both had a long flight. So let's just shutttt uppp alright. We are about landing anyways ". He places emphasis on " shut up" to show his annoyance. He closed his eyes again not once glancing at him to see his reaction. "Fine". Hakeem spoke in defeat. He passed the files to his PA , a slander blonde lady in her late twenties. " Be nice when we get down. This is Ghana not a war zone". He  mumbled and relaxed.

Kara helped Uncle Kwesi unload her luggage from his SUV. Growing up, he was the closest family she ever had. From what she knows, he was the only one who accepted and helped her mom when the family deserted her. He already had his life in Accra and was not dependent on her grandparents, so he was not obligated to follow their decision. Beside, her mom has always been his favorite sibling. He was more than an uncle to her. She harboured no I'll feelings towards her aunties and little uncle. She realised they were in a tight situation where they had no say. The call once in a while to check up on them and that was enough for her. She didn't even need her grandparents in her life. Maybe her mom did, but she has never needed anyone in her life except her mom. She wondered why.

The Kotoka international airport was busy as always. She stood in between her two big suitcases wearing a lone look. " Kiddo, most girls your age would kill to get this opportunity. Here you are giving a sad look". Uncle Kwesi patted his head as his he was contemplating. " Why is my niece so strange". Kara smiled at his behavior. Well he achieved what he wanted. To put a smile on her face. "I have something better here in Ghana". She firmly proclaimed. This made her uncle give a smile as if she had said something funny. " There are some things that neither your mom nor I can give you. Remember that okay". Kara nodded although she thought otherwise. He hugged her and smile sadly and pat her head gently , his eyes filled with so much love. He never had a daughter. Three boys no girl. Kara has been her daughter since the day he picked Esther up from Circle. As soon as he saw his kid sister step from the bus....a rush of love and protectiveness kindled in him. It has been so even till date.

He felt that his niece needed to be unburdened before she left. She took on a burden the moment she found out about the circumstances of her birth. She never demanded for more nor did she complained. Everything she did clearly said" thank you for not aborting me." She was adorable. Too beautiful to let go.

"Live life Nana....you are your mother's daughter. But you...are not Esther. You are my lovely niece..." Kara went still in his embrace....
